Just got done watching your Oregon Wildfire videos (2020) and love going back in time to see this!! You have come a long way from rusty tank fire engine days!
I love it when a plan comes together!
Perhaps one of the best videos I have even viewed in RUclips. I did not want a pickup truck before watching this. Keep up the great work.
i love it when a plan comes together!
"I love it when a plan comes together!" , Love opening to this video! Awesome
Just like a big kid playing with his new fire engine! :)
Now you have to paint that old water tank, and put your Wranglerstar logo on the sides.
Nice to hear the family in the background. The best part of living is sharing it with the ones you love. Great video Cody.
Dude, sometimes I think you are living every grown boy's dreams!
I think it must be illegal somewhere, to be having that much fun!
God Bless you and yours!
And keep it up!
Any video that starts with The A Team theme song gets ALL the thumbs up
I agree with Captain K-man on the foam. As an alternative talk to your local fire departments about their foam. It has an expiration date and most times it is simply disposed of. If you were to get your hands on a cube of that you be set for life. Plus the AFFF foam will work on 3D and petroleum fires. A definitely good thing to have around if you have a building or vehicle fire
What a great video Cody. Lol at Mrs. Wranglerstar not coming close to watch the tank getting filled :-)
AMAZING I NEED TO SEE ALL YOUR OLD VIDS
A-Team Music :) YES :)
😂. Love it.
I love your videos! Not just for the cool projects you do, but mostly for the valuable lessons like "patience" and taking the time to complete the small details to do the job right. Thank you for taking the time to share!!!
Awesome! Great job, and great to see Jack driving.
This maybe be the best intro ever made : ) way to go too on getting the tank loaded after the tow motor went down. Good lesson in there about resourcefulness.
A very basic tip on welding Cody (I'm sure you already know), just pretend you're writing cursive "O"s until you reach the end of your weld. It's simple & the best advice I've ever recieved when I started welding. Your spot welds look nice brother. Keep up the great work!
Can you bend the top of the rod over so you don't slip and get impaled.
Been welding a while and that weld you showed on the crossmember was nice!
"Come on over and see what happens..." That phrase can get you in a lot of trouble!! LOL!! Very Cool (pun intended)!
Love the A-Team theme song at the beginning! Perfect choice!!!
What a fantastic prep!
Very cool and probably a much needed thing in your part of the country. Hope the fires don't get too close.
Great build!! Be careful driving when that tank isn't full... the water sloshing around can throw off the balance of the vehicle especially on hills. Dangerous stuff for such a nice pickup!
Cody first of all great intro to the vid. Second I would be on the lookout for a small boat trailer to mount everything to so that the take could be kept full and all you or the family would have to do is back the truck up and go. Third is keep up the great work brother. Because of you we are all inspired :)
You are so awesome, Cody!
It's not just the stuff you have, the workshop, the farm, etc - it's just as much what you make of what you have. I envy your ability to think something up, and then actually doing it. I think about making a lot of things, but it's that last step; to actually do it, that fails :)
I love the intro to this super old vid. Wow Jack has grown!
That is the coolest thing I've seen you make yet.
I wish I could "play" all the time! Love this cody and thank you for sharing.
I thought it was funny when Mrs. Wranglerstar wouldn't come close because she figured you would squirt her. LOL makes you even more like real people! I love you guys I learn so much from you.
LOL, They were both cool.
Great idea Cody!
Another awesome build!!! Keep up the good work.
Intro sealed the deal as this is your greatest video! LOL
Nice I like the pink I pad 5:42
does your neighbour have any belongings left? haha! great video mate, very informative!
Very very very cool!, Love the theme music, I love the A-team.
Superb work Cody. And if you mount it on a trailer it will be perfect, because if you need it in an emergency it will save you time from having to pick it up on to the truck. With a trailer, just attaché and go.
good job cody!!!
You talk about "it doesn't have to be designed crazy", but you played the theme from A-Team on the intro!! LOL!! Had me ducking for cover!! Now that you've "tested" the tank, what are you going to do with the extra water in the tank so you can unload it from the truck? Also, just to play devils advocate, what/how would you unload it, but keep it full of water? Always good to have a backup plan. JMHO. Great job McIver!
You are the ultimate man! Great work!
I would have never guessed that you'd put a Phish song in one of your videos. Great video.
He ain't gettin in no plane!
I just watched the video you made today about your fire skid and I got recommend this. You have really come a long way sir. I'm planning on doing one on my own now I really see the need. thanks for your videos. Good bless
Great stuff Cody.
that was a cool intro made my day
Okay at the end where you are showing us it works... You were telling Jack something... Was that so you could hit him with the water? ;)
Something you may want to do when you put this away for the winter is run a strap of steel from one rail to the other so the rails don't deform from the weight of the water and tank while the truck is bouncing around. Better would be two steel straps with D rings welded to the ends to attach the nylon straps to. This will save your nylon straps too.
First of, im a big fan of what you are doing, keep up the good work!!
as a tip
When we use a water pump we hang the input hose in an old washing machine drum, this acts as a filter against leaves and other coarse material
Don't forget some dishwashing liquid to help with penetration of the water! One quart dumped into batch mixing of the 266 tank will make it way more effective. But I guess you know this since I heard you mention you were a wildland firefighter in the past.
HAH! The A-Team. Great choice. Neat truck too!
You think of just about everything, The Great Wranglerstar.
Here's a tip. If you plan on pulling from a pond, get a 5 gallon bucket and drill some holes in the sides and on the bottom and tie it onto the intake hose. It's a good pre filter for the strainer that you have there. Keeps ya from having to reposition the hose.
I love it when I plan comes together...
I always enjoy watching your show. God willing one of these days My family and I will be able to become self sustaining. I am working on it. However, my wife is not too thrilled with the idea. I am still in the military few more years I will be retired. God Bless you and your family.....
I really like your video's, the Phish at the end of this one earns a double thumbs up
Very nice!
Watching your videos has shown that welding is a critical skill. Any "how-to" manuals you'd recommend on the subject?
That intro is epic for sure.
Just watched the video, great Job!!! Believe it or not, a pressure washer wand works great on those skid units, you can really dig into burning stumps and piled up undergrowth with them. Again, Great job from one FF to another.
cool setup, great video
Pretty slick!
Outstanding.
If you set up the truck where it had Nozzles to spray the water, it will put out a brush fire better then having a hose squirting out water a section at time. Location should be in front of the bumper and I would say having the spray nozzles about 6" apart and about 2' high. you will use less water. give it a go! there is a clip on you tube from Gears spike TV with Stacy David.
Great idea and nice work. Question is how soon can you have it ready from off the truck and being empty to being fire ready? Looks like you have good flow from your tower but nothing more frustrating then watching a fire burn and your tank isn't in your truck full of water. Trailer it and keep it full maybe? Just a suggestion. I have been buying IBC tanks from our farm supply for $20 and they are 275 gallon I can get three on my trailer but I keep one full on it. Nice steel tank!
Nice!!! Cant wait to see the Video.... I have alot of hours on a skid unit, Awesome addition to the homestead!!
I love it when a plan comes together
Perfect music!!
You have a well done solution for a real problem. I pray you never need it. I fear you may.
good job on the water tank, thanks for the video
Lool that intro too funny!
Pretty cool setup my buddy and I are both Volunteer FireFighters and were talking about building something similar but using one of those 270 gallon IBC totes and my 2" Monarch pump. I think for quick couplers what you want are cam-lock fittings but keep the threaded fittings in case you ever have to hook up to proper fire department equipment.
Nice build, I'm doing the same but using a 250 gallon IBC tote for the tank. I'mn still gathering parts. I'd recommend that you install a site glass so you can tell how much water is in your tank.
Well done Cody. I really like the size of the tank you used. Weight should be fine at reasonable speeds.
Awesome!
Good idea!
Awesome job Cody... I wish i jad half the resources you find. We dont have homestead like that on the ea
Great job! Are you eventually going to have that set up on a trailer? Very cool letting Jack drive.
Haha. Love the music and the opening.
Excellent idea mate. I watched a few of your videos and they are... how do I say this... just awesome. Truly awesome. Thank you so much for making these videos. +1 sub
NICE SETUP
A team! Awesome
WOWWWW This is really cool. Good work Cody.
Outstanding farm build!! Its a steel tank so it'll get rusty fast, If you can get some expired AFFF from the station or we used to use Arm & Hammer phosphate free laundry detergent powder 4 cups for 300 gallons kept the water in storage crystal clear, no more tomato soup and helps with the wetting action.
Haha the A team theme was prefect! Now do you also have to ability to stand in a hail of gunfire and not be hit?
Great video !! Somehow I never saw this before... Love the A-Team opening !!
yet another awesome video
Okay, i am officially jealous of you having a fork lift...also very cool fire fighting rig.
5:35 ... that's a beautiful ipad cover. :)
If you add a compressor or a air tank and inject some air into the hose somehow you could have a CAFS. That would extend your water by a lot. For class A foam just use Dawn dish soap. All class A foam is, is Dawn with a carbon binder. Even if you don't make a CAFS the Dawn might be good to add to your tank H2O. The Dawn will lower the surface tension of the water and help it absorb into the smoldering duff putting the fire out easier.
My Godfather was a Fire Chief and a horse rancher, he would have liked this concept. Great job!!!
Another great video and the theme song is the best. Great job all around.
Awesome setup. That will come in handy in a emergency.
Loved the Ateam intro
very cool this is something I havent thought about but should have
awesome man
Have you ever thought about foam?
Very cool.
Great Video!! Almost would've thought that you would've used some Jeep Wrangler set up. Something along the tv show "dune rats or desert rats" sort of thing. Still love the 250 though!!
To save water, if you can, get a high pressure pump with a lower flow of water. Dont need a 300gpm attack line. Waterax males a great pump line as well as a honda 2" high pressure pump. 2" hondas fo about 100gpm amd 100psi. Perfect for brush.
really cool
Def need some red paint on that fire equipment. And probly would be best mounted on a trailer. Wouldnt have to load it, it would always be ready to go. Just remember to drain before its freezing out. ;)
MacGyver @ 0.11 perfect!!!! Now all you need is a SAK !
