What is everyone's issue with front panel audio connectors? Some people still use wired headphones and some premium motherboards even have built in dacs.
??? Almost all motherboards have build a build in DAC. The cables of front panel audio connectors are prone to pick up interference and the extra cable is untidy. I use an extension cable that plugs in the audio out at the back of the PC if I don't use a separate headphone amp. AMD is having a hard enough time trying to get 4th gen Ryzen to work with B450. There's basically zero chance that it will work with 5th gen Ryzen, so anyone who follows your advice will have to buy a new mobo whenever they want to upgrade their CPU. At that point, you might as well just tell them to buy Intel. @@HotCrossJuns B550 mobos have am4 sockets right? Wasn't AMD going to change to am5 or whatever the successor of am4 should be called right after 3rd gen 4000 series?
@@HotCrossJuns that depends on how long they plan on keeping the PC, if the person is going to keep the PC for 3 to 5 years, I think it is worth it to save money on the motherboard. Also, intel may be matching ryzen in thread and core count but their multithreaded performance in cpu heavy tasks is still behind. The Z490 boards are also a lot more expensive and B460 is not going to allow XMP settings which further decreases performance.
@@HotCrossJuns B450 and B550 use the same AM4 socket. B550 will be the last motherboards using this socket, 5th gen cpus will use a different one (AM5?) and eventually you will have to upgrade your motherboard as well...
So if someone for example already has a B450 there's no point to upgrade to B550, he can just save his money and upgrade his system when 5th gen cpus and supported motherboards (don't forget DDR5 RAM as well) get released.
@@StanleyHir Recommending Intel was sarcastic. I was mocking them for constantly changing chipsets. I wouldn't actually tell anyone to buy an Intel motherboard unless they wanted to spend $2000+ on a PC that's just for gaming (and I don't generally talk to people with that kind of disposable cash)
Just bought this today for $179.99. Free shipping and no tax from Newegg.
I can't even find the b450
Newegg haves them 299$
The B550 is 179.99
Yeah most the parts I was going to order are all out of stock
Meme Surfer the only reason there so overpriced is because there high demand, if you just wait to find them there normally 110$ for standard and 115$ for the Max version. So honestly just buy the 450
Meme Surfer the 550 is overpriced even normally
@@beastgamez5296 but 450 won't support 4000 series. For future proofing, 550 is much better
Man! So close to 2 million subscribers!
Great unboxing, going to use this MB on my future build. Thanks
As part of you full review, can you please look at how large air coolers like the Noctura Nh-D15 or CoolMaster 212.
0:17 wow that hand is super realistic!
I have the B450 Tomahawk, while registering it with MSI I suggested S/PDIF out, pre-installed I/O (extension of heat sink), and a way to disable the LED on back of board through bios 👍🤓 Man I love MSI!! Once I upgraded my case I suddenly found my self wishing for an on board type C, Boom MSI for the Win!!
Question - does B550 have support for faster RAM speed then X570?
Nice to see that they used the pins from stock for something different than COM and LPT ports!
I can't believe TosLink has been an actual standard for more than 10 years! Actually very cool!
Love my tomahawk. Put it in my very first custom build.
Love how newegg started preorder a few days ago and now most are sold out . I'm glad I got my gigabyte board at that time . Very unfair to others though .
Yeah I got a pre-order on Friday and I got the email today they didn't get enough in to cover all pre-orders... I might tell them to remove the hold on my CC so I can get something else
The one handed show and tell king is back! 🤙🏼
Will done as always!
Would you consider giving us the specs of the HDMI and Display ports (like you do with USB) on this or future reviews? A lot of the websites do not offer these specs readily and it would be relevant in instances of using APU's for HTPC use. Things like 4K HDR 60 for movies etc. Thanks!
Not gonna lie i was super excited to see a million fan headers because im putting in 10 fans total in my case and in a month or so ill drop in a 5700x3d
the lack of a chip-set fan and the large number of USB connectors (wish there was more on the back) make this my new choice for upgrading. I was going to go for the Crosshair VIII WiFi, but i have a wifi card, and the price lets me upgrade to a 3900x over 37/800x.
With debug LEDs, all those fan headers, rgb, and the pci e 4 support, I am shocked it's sub 200 price point. I just hope I can get my hands on one.
The first computer I ever built was with the msi b350 tomahawk so it's nice to see the successors to be so awesome
that price compared to what youre getting is amazing. $170 for that, when an equivalent intel 10th gen is like $300 (even the Tomahawk itself)
True. It's worth the purchase especially when you see it in real life. It's heavy and sturdy.
I ordered everything for my build. Im buying b550 strix f gaming tomorrow on launch hopefully I will get it
1:07 Just a correction; the Ryzen 3 3200G & the Ryzen 5 3400G are actually from the Zen+ architecture instead of the Zen 2 architecture.
Should I go with B450 Tomahawk or B550 with this build:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Powercolor RX5700 RedDragon
RAM: 2x8GB Corasiar LPX Vengence 3200MHz
SSD: Patriot 512GB Viper M.2
HD: Seagate Baracuda 1TB 2.5" 5400rpm
SUPPLY: Seasonic Core GM-650W Gold
Thanks in advance :D
@@Bird9600 Yeah, my RAM is 3200MHz
love it!! just got the b450 6 weeks ago... but i get to build my son a PC! every one been saying for years why don't they just make a full I.O heatsink!!! that thing will cool your house!!
Is compatible with ryzen 5 5600x cpu and rtx 3070 gpu.
I currently have the b450 tomahawk max and I love it so this is about to be crazy especially if they drop a max version
That B550 gaming plus is about to go HARD
Thanks again! another good video. - I'll sit tight for when you bench / test this board out.
I almost bought a B450 mobo a few days ago as I'm building a 3600 build. Needless to say, glad I waited to find out these are being released (However, no idea on release date in UK)..... guess I'll just have to wait and see. Delays my build by a few months I reckon tho as I'll have to wait for reviews and see which mobo is best for B550.
Maybe it would be worth it to setup an overhead or static camera for your unboxings and only use the handheld camera for some specific focused shots because if this one handed flailing and camera wobbling is a bit nausea inducing.
just ordered one a few minutes ago to replace my tomahawk max. already sold out again lol. reminds me of the ol ebay auction sniping days
I wonder how is this gonna impact the prices of B450 market. Might buy the Tomahawk B450 or the Aorus Elite one.
I'm pretty sure / hoping the B450 tomahawks come back in stock as the budget option at their current $120 price
3 years from this video and now I just ordered one that also came with the Ryzen 5 5600 for only 200 bucks
Tiny hand is the best addition to the bitwit cinematic universe
been running my b450 for over 5 years now. Got a 5800x3d and now im good for another 5 thanks amd!
im planning to get the same board for the same cpu as you, did you undervolt your cpu?
I gotta wonder how much extra the extra 2.5G LAN port added to the cost. Stuck out for me as an extravagance on a board that might have been expected to be a budget champion.
When you can test it. Would you please do a full tomahawk line up ? I love these motherboards . The price for this should be around 135 in my opinion. Keep up the great videos.
