    Absolutely no bling bling RGB, instead rather sweet design, hazzlefree installation. & minimal, I like yes very much. went from x370 to this B550. The feeling of having a solid Board, makes the mind Relax,, as always i had problem with activating Windows 10, hehe typical Microsoft process.

      @@DigitalDavid Yes, absolutely update the BIOS! This board ships with a very old BIOS (dated January 2021) that does not have options like Resizable Bar and settings that Windows 11 requires. The latest BETA Bios has these and I've been running 24/7 stable for the last 3 weeks. Haven't shut my system down since I built it!

    Just bought this board this week during prime day for a major overhaul. Huge upgrade from my og asus b450m-a prime board. Got this, a 6800xt, 5800x, w/ a thermalright 6hp 120mm cooler, and a corsair rm850e. I'm coming from an asus b450m-a, 3700x with some crap low profile coolermaster rgb cooler , 2060ko, and cheap cheap apevia 600w psu. This board is a huge upgrade over what I had and tbh still very good in 2023 for the price. It has everything i need to ride am4 into obscurity.

  • @BeastofBourdon
    @BeastofBourdon Год назад +1

    I bought a similar board for my friends system, the msi pro b550-vc. Nice solid board, the only complaint I have is the board seems to automatically push cpu's past their power limits. Mine and my friends systems are identical other than the motherboard and his system sees almost double the power consumption on the cpu that mine sees under identical loads. Because of this, the stock wraith stealth cooler can't keep up with the heat generated by his r5 5600 and will cause some games to crash and one game (halo infinite) to overheat the cpu. The game doesn't actually manage to overheat the cpu while it is running but once it locks up the system and you need to restart the system to clear it, on restart you get a warning that the cpu is overheating, which could be because the restart stops the fans while the cpu is hot. Monitoring sensors showed me that my friends cpu was in fact boosting slightly higher on clocks and voltage, so a quick "undervolt" fixed that issue, its just strange that it would be doing that automatically out of the box with seemingly no thermal throttling... Any aftermarket cooler would also make this issue go away so its not a huge deal since most people buying a motherboard like this would be buying a decent cooler anyway.

      Yes, the MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries motherboard features a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for the graphics card, which is the slot where you would mount your graphics card. The PCIe 4.0 x16 slot is the black slot on the motherboard. This slot supports PCIe 4.0 graphics cards properly and can provide higher bandwidth compared to PCIe 3.0, resulting in improved graphics performance. Hello, would this be compatible with a Ryzen 7 5800x

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Год назад +2

      Hi there! Yes, the MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries motherboard is compatible with the Ryzen 7 5800X processor. The B550-A PRO supports AMD's AM4 socket, which is the same socket used by the Ryzen 7 5800X.
      With the B550 chipset, you'll have access to PCIe 4.0 support, allowing you to take advantage of the increased bandwidth for high-speed storage devices and graphics cards. The motherboard also offers robust power delivery and solid VRM design, which is suitable for powering the Ryzen 7 5800X.
      It's worth mentioning that to ensure compatibility, you may need to update the motherboard's BIOS to the latest version before installing the Ryzen 7 5800X. This can be done by visiting MSI's official website and downloading the appropriate BIOS update for your motherboard model.
      Overall, the MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries motherboard is a good choice for pairing with the Ryzen 7 5800X, offering the necessary features and compatibility for a powerful gaming or productivity system. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Happy building! cnl

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Год назад

      I apologize for any confusion, but the MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard is not compatible with 12th generation Intel processors. The B550 chipset is designed by AMD and supports AMD Ryzen processors, specifically those based on the AM4 socket. If you are looking to use 12th generation Intel processors, you would need a motherboard with a compatible chipset, such as the Intel Z690 chipset. Please ensure that you select a motherboard that is explicitly designed to support the specific generation and socket type of your desired CPU for optimal compatibility and performance. cnl

    How’s this work with a Ryzen 5 3600?

    • @TogonzoMedia
      @TogonzoMedia 2 года назад +1

      Beautifully! I have mine paired with this board, a GTX 1050, an Artic Freezer 34 eSports single, and two 8GB sticks of G.Skill FlareX F4 3200 DDR inside a Fractal Designs Focus G. Two intake fans, zero exhaust fans at the moment. But all fans are set to max in the BIOS. While I don't have my Cinebench scores handy atm, my idle temps are around 32c to 42c (ambient temp = 77f / 85f) and my max temp measured was 71.5c. I'll eventually add another fan to the Arctic Freezer and an exhaust fan behind it, and maybe come Spring, I'll replace the 3600 with a 5600x or so. The sweet spot with this board are 6 core CPUs with a max TDP of 88 to 120 watts, but I'd shy away from the hotter power hungry 8 core CPUs ...

    • @TogonzoMedia

      @@McDavis It should work. But I've seen so many threads by people on MSI's forums and subreddit that they're having issues on the boards not POSTing ever after they flash to the latest BIOS with G-series Zen3 procs. The A-Pro will ship with a BIOS that's 1 year out of date (mine shipped in October with a January 2021 BIOS). From there, you also have thier EZ-DEBUG system, which works very well but most people don't know that the VGA LED will light up even if your GPU (or IGP) is fine, but your other PCIE or M.2 devices could be the culprit. In these cases, both the VGA and CPU LED or VGA and BOOT LED.s could trip and leave you scratching your head for days or weeks. One person solved his woes by loosening his CPU cooler - some of the after market coolers don't bottom out, and over tightening is a possibility. This board is also very picky on power supplies - stay away from Antec, Enermax, etc. and go for a bonafide Seasonic or rebadged Seasonic from Corsair or EVGA. I would also pay just a bit more for G.Skill's FLARE-X instead of Ripjaws for this board because I've read so many threads where 1 Ripjaw DIMM died after 6 to 8 months, sparking a replacement. Ripjaw DIMMs are unbuffered and unregistered, but their Flare-X DIMMs are registered. There's not many boards that accept registered RAM outside of the high end server market, but this is one of them. In the end, I would lean towards an ASUS B550 instead of an MSI just because if things go south, you'll need the better customer support from ASUS and with you had it ...
