I love the brass chain lock connecting the left lapels of his two jackets. You can tell the props dept. and/or designers just grabbed the most absurd things they could find and were probably laughing non-stop putting this sketch together.
Overall it is actually a pretty sick costume. I assume Jordan keeps it on hand

Made sense to me
I love this sketch, cos its not just about a guy whose calling out how silly his friend is. The guy is frustrated by them being irrationally late and just so vain and seemingly out of touch, even if his clothes were from any other fashion or even modern and normal, it's still already a funny interesting setup. The steampunkery is just the batshit excuse that adds funnier icing on the cake.
mhmm Key does such great work here and it made me sympathize for him and feel a bit bad for him at the end
