      Wayne Essar Hi thank you, these get very dirty inside and like I said in the video, it's often overlooked and it's a job that doesn't take to long. I was pleased with the outcome of the video on the tripod, I plan to do much more of these type of videos if I can find the time. Thanks for watching🙂👍

    Hello there, how do you disconnect the roller from the mower? It’s connect with rod going from the engine to gearbox

    I hate circlips, Hayter use pins instead which I sort of prefer, the old side drive hayters had circlips, good video

    • @menditman2004

      Gregs Mowing Yes circlips can be a pain, getting the off can be frustrating at times when the tool keeps flicking off. That's why I really checked they were in the groove. But I'll give these pro Honda's One thing there much easier to work in than the HRX range, the HRX ones have so much to take off to do a job in them, Thanks for watching🙂👍

    I have an HRD535 - the drive works on it when I lift the roller off the ground and very reluctantly if you give it a push when on the ground - but mainly it sits there kind of ratcheting on the spot like it is trying to go but slipping ... do you think this points to the needle bearings being the issue?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  3 года назад +1

      Hi possibly but I’d say it’s more the clutch in the gear box or gears cog has worn out, but first check the lever where the cable goes to can slip there’s a little nut and bolt that hold it on have a look at that first ( you will have to removed the roller system to do that, the good thing is you can buy the parts to repair these gearboxes. Only way you will know is take it apart and strip the gearbox down. Let me know how you get on Thanks🙂👍

  • @paulbugden8573

    I put new bearing on my roller every winter mate the should no t be seal bearing should be a grease nipple on them so you put grease in the bearing and drive the wet out

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  5 лет назад +1

      paul bugden Hi Paul that's a good point a grease nipple would make much more sense. The problem is people who don't understand these mowers carry on using them with badly worn bearings, the the problems escalates and things get ruined. I've seen some pretty rough drive systems on these, but most is repairable, bearings are fairly cheap, it's the gearbox parts that are the expensive bits. Thanks for watching🙂👍

    Hi good video, im doing a similar model at the moment lawnflite 553hrs-pro-hs. ive just did a full rebuild of the gearbox and came to realise i cant find out online what grade of oil i need to fill it with as the old stuff was knackered, any idea as ive read people saying sae 90 iso 220? but no idea where to find it locally. thanks

    • @menditman2004

      Hi my local mower shop said use SAE30 that’s just standard mower engine oil. Mower shops should sell it. I’ve used it and haven’t had any problems. Hope this helps and thanks for watching🙂👍

    I have a Honda HRD536 QXE with rear self-propelled drive, which I am having a problem with. When I engage the self-propel system, the shorter rear roller rotates, however, the longer roller does not rotate, so does not drive. I suspect the gear teeth on the output gearbox drive and / or the gear teeth on the longer roller are worn or stripped. Appreciate your comments ? Could it be anything simpler ?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  3 года назад

      Hi I would say the best scenario would be the splines have worn on the longer roller, Meaning you would just need that roller replacement. Other than that it would be a gearbox issue, but saying that I would think gearbox issue would mean both won’t turn. You need to get that roller off and investigate. Hope this helps thanks for watching 🙂👍

    On the parts diagram the thrust washer and circ clips are the opposite way round to how you fitted them (washers first then the circs in middle)?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  4 года назад

      Hi that rings a bell when I looked on the diagram, but my way has to be correct as there wouldn’t be any point having the washer on there, it would just aimlessly slide along the shaft, Honda must have made a mistake there. Hope this helps🙂👍

  • @stuartwinter1387

    I bought a hrh536qxe the other day, it was sold with a judder when engaging the roller. I imagined it would be a slipping belt but googling it seems it’s warn cogs. However I tightened the cable and it kind of solved it. But I thought I’d clean it up. One of the needle bearings is knackered, How do I get a needle bearing out?? Been heating it, wd40, hitting it from the inside, no luck. Any suggestions?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  4 года назад

      Hi heating and hitting it’s out I find is the only way, the mower shops buy the shaft bit which has the bearings in, I don’t think they are stupidly expensive. But that does involve taking the gearbox apart. If you go that why you may as well put a new dog clutch in it as I find that’s what usually (not always) causes the judder. Hope this helps thanks for watching🙂👍

    • @stuartwinter1387
      @stuartwinter1387 4 года назад

      Life's Hobbies And Happenings have never removed them? As I’ve already ordered replacements. Is it the clutch that causes clicking not the cogs slipping?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  4 года назад

      Stuart Winter Hi again I have removed them once, but I had to heat them up red hot, the got them out with a punch, repair shop told me I wouldn’t be able to do it but I proved them wrong, it’s not an easy job though. The few I’ve took apart the gears weren’t to bad, you won’t know for sure the condition until you dismantle the gearbox, but I bought 2 mowers last year both juddered but when I replaced the dog clutch they were fine. You really can’t tell until it’s been dismantle though. Hope this helps.

      Life's Hobbies And Happenings clutch or gears don’t look very warn? There is about 5mm of play on the little cog shaft though should there be?

    I purchased a brand new HRH, and after the first 15 minutes of mowing it wasn't moving forward anymore... I found that little black cylinder with an axe on the ground, that black part on top here : ruclips.net/video/NbNF6TcFhIA/видео.html
    Back to the shop, mechanics told me it was the first time they had seen that. They put it back in place in 5 minutes, and I hope it wont happen again, imagine the blade hurts it when it falls ?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  4 года назад +1

      Hi I don’t think the blade would touch it as it can’t fail directly on the blade and you would be going forward. I imagine with yours someone forgot to put the pin retainer on, then the pin could drop out, but I would imagine it’s very rare it would fall off. Thanks for watching🙂👍

      @@menditman2004 Thanks for your answer. Yes, now can see it's behind the blade. It most likely felt while I was emptying the bag, with the engine idle.
