17mm socket to undo the main bolt on the roller shaft, then a 14mm to undo the next bolt that holds the height adjuster plate on, catch the 12mm nut that falls off the back. then you can pry the assembly off keeping an eye out for the 4mm woodruff key and the big spring so you don't lose that. then it's just a case of removing the roller itself and then a couple of circlips to remove and the gearbox should slide off the shaft. they can be stiff to remove if its rusty but persevere with some penetrating oil spray and perhaps some heat if required and a block of wood to help knock it off the shaft and it should all come off then. i have seen a few in the past that had either rusted solid where the splines of the roller meet the splines of the gearbox or have been welded by some numpty previous owner so hopefully your's hasn't been....if you do get stuck give me a shout and i may be able to do a quick video if you get stuck but i'm pretty busy at the moment with leaf season!...good luck
@@bidders77 Thanks for the detailed reply. Took it to local shop in the end. They used a brass headed serious hammer to knock the axle through. They got the big rhs one off but lh won't budge so left it with them. Yes, it was very rusted. Now they've got access will probably be OK with some Plus Gas. They didn't want to use heat in case of damaging the gearbox oil seals. Thanks for a great channel and good luck with those pesky leaves. I did a job today and they were falling faster than I could blow them up.🤨
Hopes and prayers? Unfortunately not really, tried all sorts but they are wedged in tight so require the specialist tool. Heating them up before removal helps as does freezing the new ones before installation. You can get a kit for 30/40 quid off eBay or amazon, search for ' inner bearing puller'.
@@bidders77 thank you for replying. Yes I guessed they would be a mare without the tool. I'll check out the amazon for the tool or maybe ask my local garage to do it. The freezing and heating for bearings drives my Mrs mad.....she keeps finding things in the freezer and oven 😄
@@x4dd I've heard of people driving them out from the other side with a punch but I tried and never managed it. Can't see how as there is a lip it seats into preventing it from going too far in when installing. Good luck with it. Pretty sure you can get cheaper sets I guess you'd just have to measure the bearing to find the size you need
your dogs barking in my ear making me think there is a dog in the house attacking me.
That's my dog Iza being tormented by the local pigeons
@@bidders77 good video though.
Really useful video, thanks. Could you do one for disassembling the roller to get to the gearbox? Or any advice: mine won't budge.

Is there a way of removing the 2 bearings if you don't have a bearing puller like you used?

It is really quite easy with the right tool though. Well worth the money
