I use Red Heart a lot but my amigurmi now is all for me and sits on a shelf so I'm good with it. But I have also used it and gifted. My soon to be six year old nephew still carries around the bear I made him during his first year and it's in great shape and he loves it. I know if too soft of a yarn it probably would be a mess. I do have a lot of Big Twist in my stash which is softer but splits like crazy. Red heart hardly ever splits. I'd rather have rough yarn and no splitting.
Clicked because I wanted to know if someone liked Big Twist Living as much as I do! 🥰
Working on a pair of slippers using Yarn Bee Comfy Classic in white (which is very splitty but forgiven because the finished piece has excellent stretch without losing its shape), with accents in Yarn Bee Sassy Girl in the color Kaitlin. Very princess-y. 💕
It is one of those yarns you have to have the right project for but when you do it is so nice! I am actually planning on making rainbow hearts today! 😄 Your slippers sound lovely!
brushing Little Bunny out with a pet brush made it feel so much better for me!
I never thought of brushing it out! I’m going to try that.
Working on a beanie using two colors of Hobbii Rainbow 8/4 held double to make a 8/8.
That sounds lovely! What colors?
@@Tfwcrochet Prussian Blue and Burnt Orange.
Skane not skeen.
I'm getting overwhelmed with yarn and myself 😅
100% get it lol
Definitely make a video trying methods of making yarn softer!! I’ve always wondered if rough cotton yarns (like lily sugar and cream for example) get softer after washing, if fabric softener works on it (it works on cotton shirts?).. I’ve also wondered about methods to make itchy yarns less itchy- of course there’s nothing you can do about a super scratchy wool- I mean more like how some alpaca yarn is just sliiiiightly itchy if the fabric touches your bare tummy (at least that happens to me sometimes lol).
I am definitely going to compile some different ideas to make a video soon! I know what you mean about alpaca. I have a sweater I thrifted made partially of alpaca and it is comfy but just a liiiitle itchy.
@@Tfwcrochet exactly!! It’s such a specific feeling. Much better than any type of sheep’s wool for me anyways, and I get used to it over the course of the day, but for the first hour ish after I put on my alpaca sweater in the morning, It’s a little itchy :(
I can let you know washing does make it softer. I have a kitchen drawer full of dishcloth make with it. They are very soft after washing.
I noticed Caron simply soft did get smaller. It's a strategy alot of companies including food manufacturers use to keep the prices low.
Im not the only one who noticed. I realized afterwards I should have put Caron and red heart in skein in the neck. I have regrets. Haha I think the colors win me over every time. I am easy to please lol
Interesting Video!
Haha I’m sorry I put little bunny in the bottom tier. But I did put the dream chenille in the top one! Even though it’s not made anymore 😭
15:28 it makes a cute knitted beanie!
I hadn’t thought about it for a beanie! Does it color pool?
Since we’re dunking on yarn I absolutely hate red heart. Maybe with the exception of the soft fluffy hair like skein. I don’t know the name of it sorry. I hate everything about their yarns.
I totally get it! I think I’m blinded a little by nostalgia. But I also like that it’s affordable and accessible.
I agree….worst stuff on the market
I worked on a baby blanket for my cousin who’s baby is due this month ☺️ I was using the two of wands color theory yarn
Love that! Baby blankets are so fun to make. I have never tried that yarn. Is it nice?
I hate super saver stripes ( or any super saver to be honest) with a passion it's so scratchy even the colours are not that good
, I know you can make it softer by washing it but I'm not willing to do that there are plenty of yarns that are much much better
I agree for the most part but the fact that it’s accessible and affordable are the main reason I kept it in a higher tier. I think the part where I said that got cut out because my dog was being restless and walking around.
I live in the North of England we have lots of yarn manufacturers here Red Heart is expensive for me So I'll pass on it x
@@jacquieparryfabulousjaxx that’s really cool! I wish I had more options for local yarn here
@@Tfwcrochet I'm going to a local textile festival on Sunday I'm so lucky to live here x
I'm at my 9-5 😂 wishing I was working on a yarn project
Glad to keep you company at work. I hope you get to do a project when you get home!
Red heart becomes so much softer after you throw it in the wash. ❤
I have definitely heard that. I usually hand wash my plushies because I don’t want the eyes to get dinged up. But I will have to try it in the wash.
@@TfwcrochetI’ve seen “hacks” where people put the whole skein into tights/pantyhose and tie off on each end to wash it. Apparently it keeps the yarn from getting tangled in the wash.
@@sailorspaghetti2376 that’s a good hack. I should try it!
Red Heart Stripes is one I tolerate because of the colors 😅 not so fond of Super Saver texture. Bright Stripe is my favorite ever. I've also used Neon Stripe. I have yet to try Favorite Stripe.
Yes absolutely love the colors. I really want to get more of the variations!
im working on weavin in ends on 12 spiral coasters foir my friend as a graduation gift. its 8 ends per coaster so its 12 times 8 ends. alot but im almost done! ive got 4 left to weave
I’m glad to have (hopefully?) entertained you while you weaved in ends. 😆
I'm trying to make a new project bag to bring around to appointments and things. I'm still pretty new, and just winging it without a tutorial - crossing fingers it works! I'm using 2 strands of I Love this Cotton, in Pink/Green/Purple variagated and Amethyst. I was so eager to hear your thoughts on the Friends cotton, and I feel exactly the same. Funniest thing to me though, I also had just decided earlier today that instead of the amigurumi I'd planned on, I'm going to use all of the skeins (I say it same as you so the joke landed on me at least! 😂) I bought for granny squares too!
That’s funny that you had the same idea! You’ll have to let me know how your granny squares turn out.
I hope your bag turns out well! I have been in the mood to make bags lately too I’m not sure why.
@@Tfwcrochet Yes, I've been in such a bag making mood! I've got 3 of them at various stages of doneness right now lol (we won't talk about the yarn I've already bought for 3 more I plan to make). It always seems to alleviate my guilt just a little bit when I go crazy buying yarn if I use at least some of it to make something I will definitely use.
So far, the granny squares are turning out nice, and they will become yet another bag. I really wanted to love this yarn because the colors are so beautiful and it's pretty soft for cotton, but it just splits so much for me that it drives me crazy. I want to finish all of the squares in cream, but don't have that color in this yarn. Hoping that if I use I Love This Cotton for just the outside rings and bag straps, it won't look weird.
Great job using your new technology! It looks awesome! 🧶💕
Oh, and I’m working on a blanket for my son with Bernat blanket yarn. He’s 19 years old and 6’4” tall and I’m realizing as I go that this is going to be an expensive blanket! 🤦🏻♀️💸
Omg thank you! 🥹 I did my best! 😆
@@jenbrooke403 haha! Blankets do add up in price don’t they? I only ever make baby blankets these days.
This blanket is going to be the death of me, I swear. I am on my 3rd time restarting it bc I keep ending up going crooked. I had really thought I fixed the problem with the 2 try, but nope. So now I’ve decided to make giant granny squares with a circle in the middle of each one, then I’ll sew them all together. MAYBE it’ll be done by Christmas and I can gift it to him them. lol
I was making my version 2.0 of my May Monster of the Month. I will get it out for testing tomorrow and hopefully have it up on my blog by Friday.
Exciting!!! I love that!
Love the yarn tier list! I’m working on a Stitch amigurumi project for a family member 💙
Love that! Stitch is my older daughters favorite character right now. She’s been begging me to make her one
I was working on Christmas pickles for an upcoming Christmas in July market. I'm using Premier Parfait Chunky in Emerald at the moment. I didn't realize that you had tested so many yarns. Wow!
I can’t believe it either! Christmas pickles! So cute.
