The chatting is what makes a video enjoyable. It's nice to hear the thoughts of other crocheters. I can totally relate to comparing yourself unfavourably to others x

Thank you so much for saying that. I feel like I have gotten more confident in my own little niche and not worrying too much about what others are doing. I’m sorry you suffer from depression. I suffer from an anxiety disorder with occasional bouts of depression. It’s so hard but always thankful to keep myself busy with all my crochet projects!

@Tfwcrochet , thank you so much and thank you for being honest and open about your mental health. So many people can relate and it really helps build connections when we can talk and feel openly about our mental health. There used to be such a stigma on mental health and it left us feeling alienated and afraid to speak out. I truly enjoy your videos and content, and I love your crochet creations!!

I can definitely relate to the mental health struggles. I started this channel and a TikTok to promote an Etsy shop I don’t even have yet. I don’t have it because I keep looking at my pieces like…they’re not good enough. There are so many talented crocheters out there with beautiful patterns and FOs…who am I to sell my mediocre yarnlings?
But. That’s just imposter syndrome. Your stuff is all unique to you and no one does it quite like you!
Don’t let the negative self talk get you down. You can’t compare yourself to others because no one else is you. I hope you’re feeling better now since this video is three months old 🫶🏻

@@squittenchetdesigns yes imposter syndrome for sure! It inflicts a lot of us. Best luck to you with your shop! I believe in you.

It is so easy to compare yourself with others and feel like you’re not enough….but we each offer something different and unique. It may be the way you film or what you like to make. Be yourself, you’re doing great! I always enjoy your videos. ❤❤

Yay! Lucky that you already had the yarn! I think the colored one may look nicer in a bigger project? Like a shawl or sweater? But you made the right call cutting the different colors because the fox looked so cute! 🦊
And social media really just does that to you sadly 😞 but I do feel like there’s something to learn by overcoming those negative thoughts. Is it worth the stress? Who knows 🤷‍♀️ haha

    • @Tfwcrochet
      @Tfwcrochet  7 месяцев назад

I totally agree with the variegated yarn. It would look better on a big project. I’m such a bad judge of that for some reason! And yes trying to figure out if social media is worth the stress is exactly what I’m trying to figure out right now. I’m not sure yet haha

I'm 54 years old. I stopped comparing myself to others a while ago. I've been crocheting Since I was in my late Teens. my mom taught me, but never told me what the Stitches were. It wasn't until Covid hit That I took a deep dive into Crochet . I have Taught myself so much Through Videos books . and other people. I've since Taught my children, and my Grands To Crochet, along with several other people. I've gotten So many compliments on The Stuff I've given away. It makes me proud of myself for bringing such Joy To people. That's all I need, Just knowing how happy I made them.

Thank you for the video. I have been curious about this yarn for a while now. As for chatty videos: I like them. I have a problem with feeling like a loser. I crocheted since I was just a kid, but just recently got into making Amigurumi. I haven't done my first market yet, I had neck surgery so I put the crocheting away for a while, so now I feel REALLY behind.....I'm 61 so I have to make the years count, lol. I still intend to do a market, but it won't be until next spring.
OK enough of my pity party, lol! I love that you are so real, I really feel better after watching you and I love Shannon too :)

You are doing a great job, you have to remember when we started crocheting we didn’t have all the tutorials on hand like now not to mention crochet is making a big come back which I believe was from Covid. You are making customized orders so you clearly are just as talented as others. I know it is hard to get out of your head when mental health is an issue. There are many good u tubers to watch but try The rumimill, and passionknit Kelsey.

Hi Lili. I did sub to your moms channel a few weeks ago. Y'all have a good day. Talk about comparing. I'm 76 and just started about 3 years ago trying.....TRYING to learn crochet and watercolor. Imagine thinking: I'm old and will die soon so what's the point? THAT'S comparing at its ugliest! How can I EVER compare with younger more experienced ppl? I don't stand a chance!! But I have a wonderful support of gal pals who drag me out of my slumps, my lows. I've suffered from depression since HS and lots of pain since I was 2 with my 1st hip surgery. BUT I'm like a dog with her bone....I don't give up; I fight for what I like and want. You are very pretty and talented and I wish for you to be an overcomer of your struggles. I haven't managed a plushie yet as I struggle with seeing those stitches even though my eyesight is fine. just not use to such small needles with bigger yarn. I was so frustrated with rip outs that I have given that hobby and dream to make plushies, up for a little while. I will try again. Thanks much for your transparency, for sharing your cute, darling projects.

I have been crocheting since I was 7 or 8 years old. And I was only exposed to dailies and afghans and not amigarumi. I taught my daughter to crochet and she makes the toys. She is more accomplished at the toy making than I am. I find that awesome. I don't get upset because our journeys are different. Don't compare yourself to another's journey. Know that you are doing well with your channel despite how situated this niche market is these days.

Crocheting and knitting are my relaxation, distress tools. I deal with mental health struggles. I don't make my amigurmis for anyone other than me. They can have errors, they can be not perfect and that's ok. My mil keeps pushing me to sell sell sell. Nope. Can't turn it into a stressful thing when it's my relaxation tool.
I use to have an active channel and I basically had a mental breakdown. Deleted everything, ghosted everyone I interacted with. There was no pressure from anyone but myself and I couldn't do it. Now I don't even upload my projects to Raverly. I shocked myself when I posted a pic on
r/amigurmi the other day. Won't happen often. Love your openness and honestly.

Thank you for recognizing that. It is so important to me to only ever share my real opinions on things. I’ve turned down companies that wanted to work with me because they wouldn’t let me say how I really felt. I have been gifted items before but I’ll always disclose that and will always only say my real opinions. It’s so important to me.
