    I bought my a7iii from you guys and love it trading in some of my gear. I was very pleasantly surprised when a YTer I respect Marcuspix said it was his favourite stills camera.
    I just bought my a6700 from you guys. It was another seamless transaction trading in more of my gear, and I'm enjoying that.
    I will be back for some lenses I want after Christmas in 2024, so see you then!

    Did anyone win one of these for the gear competition mpb held? I didn't see a winner update.

    As this video shows it's not that much about putting it against newer cameras because it's obvious in most categories it would pale in comparison, but for me being a 7a3 user and eyeing every year for a (and what) potential upgrade, I am always pleased for videos telling me that I'm still OK with shooting with my camera in 2023 :))) And again, it comes a lot down to what you're shooting and what you need it for. I own my camera since 2020 and still feel I haven't explored the full potential of it!

      I definitely agree! I am a Sony A7 III user myself and I still think it is a great camera, especially if you've used it for many years and know it well.
      Another proof of this camera's capabilities is this video, entirely shot on an A7 III. After using an FX3 for a few years, I thought it will look terrible but I was wrong, I'm really happy with the result. Thank you! - Jakub

    Still love my A7III. Film a lot in ITU709 and Pro colour as a lot of RUclips peeps say that's the best for 8 bit when not dealing with high dynamic range conditions.
    EVF SENSOR "ISSUE" not enough people say this but if you just tilt the screen a little bit out it disables the sensor. A friend of mine got rid of their A7iii because they found the grip a little comfortable for their wrist problem and complained about this EVF sensor being the last straw. Shower them the tilt thing and they had no idea it was that easily fixed.
    Powering via USB has been a godsend. So glad that the A7Rii brought that in and it's only gotten better.

    Very nice video, you have energy and a good rhythm when you explain technical details. I like your accent as well, it's clear for a non-native speaker like me. I will watch other videos of your channel

    8-bit color looks way off compared to the newer 10-bit Sony cameras.

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  Год назад

      I think it may be caused by a few factors: it was shot in S-Log 2 which is a bit harder to grade than S-Log 3 due to the colour shift and also the latest Sony cameras have a more pleasing colour rendition (in my opinion). But yes, with 10-bit footage there would be more room for heavy grading. Thank you for watching! - Jakub

    Could I drag my Canon glass over and use it with an adapter? Is the sensor covered when the lens is off?

    • @thirdmort
      @thirdmort Год назад +1

      Use the Sigma MC -11 adapter. It focuses really well with the Canon lenses. I came from Canon and even 4 years from switching, I still use 2 old Canon lenses regularly on my a7iii

    • @edshotsdotcodotuk
      @edshotsdotcodotuk Год назад +2

      I can also attest to the Canon lenses working well. My Canon 70-200mm f4 can even be relied upon to pick out a face quickly with the MC11.
      The sensor does not close but with almost 12 years of using mirrorless it's not as big a deal as people think. My original 5D got dustier than any of the 20 or so mirrorless I've had (an unusually high number due to picking some bargains up and needing multiple cameras to film comedy gigs). An air blower with the camera facing down is all you need.

      @mpbcom  Год назад +1

      Hey Phil, a few of us in the office have used Canon lenses with the MC-11 that @thirdmort recommended. It does work really well, but the sensor is not covered when the lens is off (which is the same for the majority of mirrorless cameras). As long as you're careful, there aren't normally many problems with dust. Thanks for watching! Amy

    I couldn't justify to myself to spend an extra 1K on the A7IV. Yes the age is there, however I don't see some revolutionary tech that I wouldn't be able to work without. Bought an A7III instead and a good lens. The only next big step worth upgrading for me in photography would be an AI camera, that would be like Iphone vs Nokia.

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  11 месяцев назад

      In my opinion the biggest advance between the two is in the video, 10-bit 4:2:2 codec in the A7IV is much more versatile and having 4K 60p is useful as well (even if it's cropped). So unless you use the camera for filming, the A7III and a lens is a great choice! Thank you! - Jakub

    I love Amy! Please let her host more videos! Ironically, I just ordered the A7III from MPB the day after this video was released but had not seen the video first. I called in to cancel my order because my concern is that the A7III won't fit the bill for the occasional wildlife that I'll shoot during travels due to autofocus and wanted to cancel my order for an A9. I'm also planning to use it as a second camera for events. However, this video seems to indicate that the A7III might be able to fit my needs.
    My second concern - the wildlife lens that I would purchase might make this a super heavy kit to use. Currently I use the Fuji XH2s and the native 70-300mm with a 1.4x TC, which is about the weight I can manage on travels. I wonder what could match up weight-wise if I do stick with my original A7III purchase?

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  Год назад +2

      That's lovely to hear thank you! I will definitely be hosting more videos soon.
      The A7 III's autofocus is fantastic, but its worth pointing out that the A9 does have a much faster processor powering the system, therefore it will out-perform the A7 III. I'm not sure what lens you'd be looking to use with the A7 III, but full-frame lenses are generally bigger and heavier than their APS-C equivalents. You could look at the FE 100-400mm, which is a heavier lens but the quality is great and it is designed for that full-frame sensor. You could also think about a 70-200mm with a Teleconverter, or possibly a 3rd party lens like the 150-600mm.
      It definitely a balancing act! Thanks for watching! Amy
