I love printing photos, and love the classic frame, even a slightly widescreen print make me cringe, like you said, my weird quirk 👌🏻 I'm happy I helped you out on this one, the Mini 2 is an incredible drone I bought with my own money, much like the Mini 1, which right now is up for sale and I'm having a hard time selling it because it is what it is. Have you ever had a problem with the video transmission to your phone after switching on a record button?
After recording 2-3 short clips next time I switch on a record button I've got a video freezing on my phone for 10-30 seconds. Everything else works fine without warnings. But the picture is frozen. After 10-30 seconds of the recording is switched on it came back and works fine.
I traded up from the original Mini to the Mini 2 Phillip. I haven't got the new Mini 2 yet but I hope it'll be here soon! If I had known DJI was working on a Mini 2 I would never have ordered the original last January! I didn't have good connection with the original either, and its performance in just a slight breeze was iffy! The two main bonuses I see of the Mini 2 over the original is being able to shoot JPEG + RAW images and having OccuSync 2! Although I would've appreciated a choice between RAW or JPEG, not both. I came to drones with a photography background so the added feature of RAW on the Mini 2 is a welcome addition! (Always enjoy watching you manhandle your drones to see if you accidentally trash one!!)
Haha, I think I specially manhandle them now just for you guys to get kicks! So yes, the addition of RAW is awesome, and I wish I could turn off those damn JPEGs, so annoying, fingers crossed for firmware update on that one! The Ocusync 2 is amazing, the original Mini had terrible connection, that's my personal experience, so using the Mini 2 is so calming now I don't have to worry about it getting lost every couple of minutes. Now I can finally concentrate on filming. Thanks for dropping by, I'm sure you'll love it when you finally get it!

Oh gosh, I've had a cheap drone before, what a waste of money. This Mini 2 is the cheapest drone out there that actually works like it should, and it does a incredible job, I'm sure you'll love it!

All DJI drones are Wifi drones I understand. They all use either a frequency channel within either the 2.4GHz band or the 5.8GHz band. The ocusync is just a method to monitor rf interference and implement a protocol I think to effectively do a seamless handshake and jump to a define channel.
Sure, Ocusync is just a lot more reliable, I'm not an expert at either wifi or Ocusync signals, but I know that the difference between the Mini 1 wi-fi signal and the Mini 2 Ocusync signal is vast. I hated flying the Mini 1 due to that damn signal cutting out all the time.
I know.. I love my mavic mini but looking forward to buying the mini-3 😃

Yes, the portability was great, the feel of the new one though, another level.
for me it is the same they did a software upgrade that they could do to the mavic mini in the 4k camera and he functions
I don't actually care much about the camera to be honest, 2.7k was fine, I could even live with 40mbps bitrate, it's the Ocusync 2.0 that changed the game here. That's something they couldn't update in the Mavic Mini. To me, that's what is most important in this new drone, the fact I can film and not worry about the connection.
Still going to stick with the mini 1, personally I don’t have many connection issues where I fly in Canada, I guess I’m lucky 🤷🏻♂️and I think until they add a d-log profile or something I don’t see much difference in the footage, at least for RUclips. always appreciate your videos either way! 👍 thanks Phillip!
Yes Sean, if you have a good connection, not much point in upgrading. My connection was a nightmare, I was just stressed everytime I'd get this little guy in the air, so I'm very happy with the Mini 2! Thanks Sean!
I think the Mavic Mini set the scene for a great portable flycam - is still great for family trips and point & shoot in short range - but the Mini 2 is all that and then some - much more!
Yes, it's the Ocusync 2.0 that changed everything here, the Mini 2 makes me want to fly, the Mavic Mini just stressed me out that it would disconnect all the time. Night and Day!
@@PhillipSkraba I wonder what Ocusync 3.0 will offer? Flying for over 20kms without a signal drop - but then batteries need to break the 40min mark as anything less than you're not going to make it back!
That would be insane. I'm sure we'll see something like that in the future if laws allow it. A little beyond vlos though 😂🙈

Got the mavic mini fly more for $400, tried out the mini 2 standard, and for me the extra battery’s are a deal breaker, the mini 1 transmission I didn’t find that bad as long as it’s within eyesight, I’d say the mini 2 is a much better drone overall, but the mini does the job.
Hi Josh, yes, totally agree with you, the Mini does the job if it's in eyesight. It's a good drone and was a game changer when it dropped last year.

Mini 2. Hands down.
@Phillip Skraba - please check your raw 4k videos (otdoors mostly where there is more light) and check the top left corner - you will find what i believe its a mass defect for Mini 2 i have tested that and looked at a dozen youtubers videos with mini2 and all we have is the same strange artifact which is in yellowish color - look carefully.
Thats a problem and Dji needs to fix that - i have looked at videos from people in various countries - hopefully you can see the same ( i have checked some your videos and its there)..
Look at 3:43 in this video - top left corner in a bigger screen.

@@PhillipSkraba DJI promised with next firmware update that to be fixed,the only thing that bothers me in the M2 is the gimble reaction in sport :( that tilt is annoying

I think that's a pretty close match in terms of what you see, the finished image, but the Mavic 2 Pro is really a monster when it comes to power and advanced features. I might do this if I can find the time, sure Marcin!

Landing in funny places will update the Home Point... that means that if something will go wrong, the M2 will go to the funny place Home Point.
Can you disable the automatic HP update?
If you press update home point you should have the option to either update it to your controller position, so you should be fine.

Hi Phillip, I know you've been getting asked these questions before, but now I see an even lower price and I really am not sure what to do. There is a deal on eBay right now for a Mini with Fly More combo for $214.99, and everywhere else I look there is no Mini 2's for anywhere near as low as that price. I am aware that the Mini 2 is significantly better, but I am weighing which one is the better value because it sure would be nice pay half the price of a new one! In your opinion, which do you think is the better option? (FlyMore Mini for $215 or new Non-FlyMore Mini 2 for $450)
Hi Christian! So I would personally never want to fly the Mini 1 again, never ever. The signal strength was the worst thing about that drone, and I'm happy I'm finally rid of it. Every time I'd go to fly it I'd be met with the stress of it disconnecting, something that very rarely happens with the Mini 2, and I've had it in some crazy places. I would save up some more money and pick up the Mini 2, it's hands down one of the best drones I've ever flown in my life.

Mini 2 all the way but i have the M M its still great ,i already purchase the mini 2 and it should get it soon ,depending what you want some people can be completely happy with the M M but for me the mini 2 is the holly grail of under 250g
Mavic Mini was a serious game changer, I totally agree, but this basically took that game to the big boys playing field and now we can really fly without stressing about our signal dropping. You'll love it!

The Mini 2 flies almost as well as my Maverick air 2. It's a fantastic little drone.

I think of selling my bulky pro 2 and get a mini 2. is the pic and vid quality holding up with the pro?
Well, it's a little sharper, there is evident over-sharpening. The connection is as good as the 2 Pro. The image quality I'd say is pretty close, but we have log on the 2 Pro, that makes a huge difference in post, however, the Mini 2 holds its own when it comes to shadows and highlights, I'm actually very impressed. I don't think I'll get rid of my 2 Pro until the 3 Pro comes out, but it's good to have the Mini 2 as a backup, just in case my 2 Pro hits a tree.
Ive had normal beginner drones before. Now I want one of these. How water proof is it in rain
no official water resistance but ive seen people bring them out in rain before and theyve been fine

Ocusync not that great either it too losses video signal at short distances the remote is nice though.
Yes, there are times it can drop on you. My Mavic 2 Pro drops out on me in difficult situations where it doesn't have a clean view of the controller, it happens, but it's night and day compared to the original Mavic Mini. The remote is very nice, I Iove how it sits in my hand!

Can you tell me please about the maximum distance and maximum altitude for both ?
The maximum altitude is 500m, but you're not allowed to go that high in most areas. The maximum distance is different on both as well as different on each region.
I see on eBay mini fly more for around 400 brand new with coupons so is it worth 200$ price difference for a beginner
I would recommend going with the Mini 2, for a beginner it is much better as the signal is a lot stronger, so it will cause you a lot less stress.
Question: If I want to use my 10.1" tablet with the Mini 2 how does my USB cord connect to the controller if the original cord is located within the controller under the retractable antenna? I wouldn't want to use a phone. Also how many fps does the mini 2 shoot in? I know the mini shoots 1080p at up to 60 fps and 2.7k at 30 or 40. I heard you talk about megabits but how does that correlate to fps? Thank you for your help
It should reach the tablet, if not, I'd get a longer cable, it's pretty standard, so just a longer version for your device and you'll be fine. I use my phone, it's not that bad, I see everything I need to, but sure, with a larger screen it'll be much more comfortable to view. Yes, it films in 4K at 100mbps, so that's a whole load of information being recorded in such a small drone. I'd stick with 24/25 when filming, unless you're really looking to slow down some specific action. Let me know if you need any more info Drew.

And where exactly does it connect to the controller because from the video it almost looks non detachable and like the wire comes from under the antenna and inside the controller. I currently have the mini and a 10.1" tablet. That's why I was wondering about it. Would hate to buy the mini 2 and not be able to use it. Thanks for all the help
@@DrewVerdin it looks like it’s melted in there, but it’s easily removable so you can swap between IOS and Android, so you can no problem use a cable of your own, no worries.

I'm bummed cause I bought my mini in June and mini 2 came out. If mini 2 came with follow mode I would jump on it, but looking at mavic air instead
I think there is an app that allows this for the mini 1 (cant remember the name) and they are just waiting for the SDK to be released for the mini 2 and it will be available on there too apparently. Would be a great feature.

The Air 2 is what you want if you want a tracking option such as follow.
I like to land mine in the park a couple of blocks from my house.
That's just bad ass, be careful of people, oh and dogs that want to use it as a bite toy.
I really don't understand what will happen to the original mavic mini, or if it really depends on the firmware or the dated batch of output that China makes with each version, but I have taken my mini up to 1.5 kms, no more than that distance, and I have never had Those warnings or signal blocks that many have, my neighbor and I bought the same day at a DJI store in Mexico, the same models and we have no problems, but others bought it through Amazon, and they have the problems that you have, yes You like I give you the information of my packaging so that you can investigate it. I'm using a CE version which is a lot worse than the FCC version. I've also had mine a 1.5km, but in seriously open space, out here it really struggles, but the Mini 2 does a much better job. If you drone in areas which don't affect it's connection, sure, no point in upgrading at all, as the Mavic Mini is still a great drone when it works. Hi Emil! Well, it's actually technically categorised as a toy, not a drone. I'm afraid to say that out loud though as I get a world of hate thrown at me 😂 Bottom line, I love this drone, it flies incredibly well, it has unbelievable image quality and the connection is everything I could wish for in a PRO drone. So, yes, it's very recommendable!

All drones over 250gram hwos not got C-label, must be 150meters distance between houses, People, buildings. Thats why im maybe getting mini2 instead of Air2 combo. I cant descide. If I could get my money back on my Mini 1 then I'd upgrade in a heartbeat to the Mini 2 but that's not going to happen. So for now I'm going to keep the Mini but I agree the WiFi range kind of sucks however I always fly with a Yagi on it which helps a ton. Luckily I have the FCC version too. If I ever to upgrade I'm going for the MA2. Like they say "Go Big or Go Home" 😁
If you're flying with the FCC version and in pretty open space it should be ok, but here I fly with the European version, and have so much wifi and forest land, it barely makes it past 200-300m, so the Mini 2 is just amazing for me now. The MA2 would be the way to go, I agree!

These are the Polish Tatra mountains, it's a national park, you're not allowed to cut down trees. Recently there have been a lot of trees drying up around that area which you can clearly see, which they say is natural and is actually thanks to the European spruce bark beetle believe it or not. It's a problem, not sure what they are doing about it, but it looks pretty bad.

Yep, that's basically what this film was about, go out and get the Mini 2. That's why I did this video. I have been to a lot of countries with the original Mini, and I hated it, it failed me every single time. It would disconnect in the most important moments, not allowing me to get the shots I wanted. I've done films on the Mavic Mini, you can watch them if you want to find out more about the Mavic Mini Michael, this film was about the Mini 2, and how DJI fixed everything that was wrong with the original in this new version.
