You'll need to know how to beat Greninja's shadow sneak, water shuriken, double team, hydro pump, and its nasty dash attack and combos. This will help you on your journey to Elite Smash.

Thank you for the advice I have trouble with this character since I am a Byleth main. I struggle to keep up with the speed
Shield his attacks and D.I. his combos away.You should be fine.
Hehe, I think most of us forgot to mention this.
Greninja's recovery is probably the easiest one to two frame, since the hitbox where he grabs ledge is so low compared to the rest of his body.
He can angle Hydro Pump below the Ledge and ignore the 2 frame.However,i am a Greninja main.This is pretty hard to do it.
@@ordinarylittlebastard3248 Oh, there's a better way than what you're talking about. There's a grenjnja specific tech called bonking, its when you hydro pump perpendicular to a part of the stage. On town and city, its very hard, but on battlefield, its easy. Basically, it makes greninja's ledge grab animation happen way lower than if he hydro pumped to ledge.

@@mankdemes9209 only works on kalos and yoshis anywhere else your asking to get f smashed. Called head bonking and you have to crash into a wall or the ledge

I wanna point out some other stuff which may be useful:
*Greninja’s jab, which is multi-hit and comes out kind of fast. It is highly annoying against slow characters.
*Hydropump can be useful to some degree, because it can displace characters and objects. For example, it can push away WFT’s side-B, especially off-stage (making ball play useless), make Ness/Lucas’ PK thunder recovery difficult to maneuver, and can cause Marth/Lucina to lose stocks from their vertical recoveries (but like you say, they don’t always pull it off, but it can happen)
*Greninja’s other weakness are the attacks overall, most moves do not have huge hit boxes and require precision in order to combo. As long as your character isn’t standing around/not DI-ing, Greninja will work harder finding setups/combos.
Hope this helps to some, just some patterns I see when going against Greninjas online. As always, great video

SDI similar to Pika is really useful as well. It's super easy to fall out of Greninja up airs when all we're trying to do is combo lolol

Something i want to add is:
His Attacks are IMPOSSIBLE to break shields and the ones that can are too laggy. So,if you constantly shield,you should be fine.
Tho,make sure he doesn't grab you of course.

I second his weakness for gimping. As a Peach main I’ve had a ton of Greninjas try to gimp me with hydropump and they only hit me with it when I’m recovering high which I can just close my parasol to drift towards ledge faster

I played one of the best Australian Greninja players in tourney and they used the hyrdo pump to edge guard me many times. I was playing link. He was the only greninja player I have ever played who consistently edge guarded me with hydropump. It may be a difficult trick that only the best greninja players can consistently pull off and it may have to do with my linear recovery. It would be helpful if you covered how to increase your chances of avoiding this edge guard. Good video tho

As someone who is a Greninja main and talked with a better main, the advice given was pretty good, but with some problems and missing things. I'm only adding for more descriptive advice:
Greninja's fast fall also helps with its combos and air dodging before landing, which helps with avoiding combos. He's also fairly fast on the ground, so he's far from having one of the worst disadvantages as compared to heavies. It also has fair be a good combo starter at low percentages, while bair is more used for spacing and edgeguarding.
im a greninja main and my main weakness is my desire to kill the enemy at like 30 with down air. I always lose games because i lose stocks at like 0 because of my kamikaze play style lol
I used to do that.
But,i always keep in mind that if you Down Air right at the ledge's size and misses,you'll always SD.
So,i always save a jump when i try to Down Air unless i'm sure it's gonna hit.
And when i notice-
I missed
I immediatly try to get back to the ledge before the other player.It works and it can help against reverse edgeguards.

when I heard him say that up-b edge guarding was a weakness I thought "this guy is dumb" then I played a game and realized he had 1000 IQ.
At zero dash attack combos into upsmash and di in is probably optimal cuz we gren mains are used to people who di out. It’s really easy to catch
On the edge guarding with hydro pump part. It’s not that it sucks really, it’s the fact that people in general suck at using and controlling pump. Also if chrom goes low he lost his stock guaranteed.

You should absolutely try abusing yo-yo at ledge, greninja is very easy to 2 frame

Does Greninja have characters he’s weak or strong against to.
Strong against Heavies or characters that struggle with Close Combat.
Like Zelda,Sephiroth,Bowser,Ganon...
He struggles against characters who are unpredictable like ZSS or characters who can keep him away like Snake.
Also,extremely weak against Shield Pressure.
3:00 grens grab and dash grab are garbage actually, grab is slow and dash grab is easily his worst move. Pivot grab is melee Marty tho and can outrange getup options.
