Steve has a sword out of shield options for in front and behind him that hit on frame 7 (6 with gold). How is that a bad oos options? He can also Minecart a second time in air if he drops TNT between uses. Allowing him to recover from very low. Only way to deal with Steve is to keep up the pressure and not let him get materials.
His fair comes out on frame 7-8. His bair on frame 12. That is 10 and 15, taking jumpsquat into consideration. How does he have a frame 6 OOS sword option? I suppose his nair would work, but at the same time, it doesn't have that much range.
I would think platforms are Steves _best_ friend, not worst enemy. Maybe the platforms block the minecart, but what about stopping him from mining? If he were to retreat under a platform and place blocks, he now have protection from the front and above. Besides K.Rool (Who appears to be glitched right now), no character can walk over the blocks, which forces you to attack the blocks, attempt to thread the needle and jump between the platform and block, or go around the platform. Maybe you can hit Steve while he's mining from his own block, someone will have to test that as I have no friends to test with. Mobility doesn't seem to be that much of a weakness honestly. Even if Steve moves slow, his minecart easily makes up for that. Once he has Gold, he can make those powered rails, which will send him zooming on by, and considering each Gold bar counts as 4, he has 4 of those powered rails. All he has to do is get in the minecart, zip close, jump out. Early on mobility could be challenging, but as Salem demonstrated, if you master the instant short hop up-b, you could glide across the ground and grab ledge to escape. Maybe that's more advance tech, but it seems like something that would be helpful to master. On the topic of the minecart, his body is still a hurtbox, so if you're brave you can knock him out of the minecart with an attack. Risky if it's powered since it'll be going fast, but it can be done powered or not. On the topic of mining, Steve can mine his own Anvil, which will always give Iron, with chances for Redstone, Gold and Diamond. Even if you prevent him from mining, Steve still starts off with 3 Iron, meaning he could in theory get you off stage, short hop Dair an Anvil and mine it. From my testing, you can get 3 to 4 resources from a single Anvil (Being either 3 Iron, or 3 Iron and either Redstone, Gold, or Diamond). Each Anvil costs 1 Iron to make, so you'll at least gain 2 Iron from a single Anvil.
Trust me, Steve's forward-air/back-air cancels are amazing out of shield options. If the Steve player knows about that, they can get you out of their shield very easily with a combo and maybe even a f-air spike.
Move to look out for this move was not mentioned but his magma block does some pretty decent stutter damage but oh boy the resulting knockback is truly mind-blowing look out for this move this is coming from a Steve main
Found a strat against with Mii Brawler, using Mach Punch on the Craft Table is useful cause you can damage it but you can catch Steve when he’s close to the table. Reflecting the Minecart is a good weakness to exploit, and finally try using tilts, projectiles and other attacks to hit the TNT to send it to directly to Steve’s face.
Something to Note : While Mashing the C Stick will do nothing. It actually only counts as one input. Use the control stick instead, that will give you a fast mash.
Pit is the best fighter for steve: His arrows can stop steve mining and catch his jumps pits shield can reflect his cart, his down air ,and his down smash His shield can tank any hit and after u tank his moves go for the right punish When steve dose his combo around low percentage u can nair out of his combos If ur recovering and he uses the blocks to block u just recover on the other side of the map
7:29 He actually has a really quick backwards out-of-shield option, too - he can initiate a jab and shorthop backwards at the same time.
