Love this video, a great discovery for me. I picked up a few useful tips for my x100v use. You have a great way of talking and explaining. Thanks so much!
Hi from Paris. Very interesting and useful video thanks. I didn’t know about the joystick lock, so useful! I hope you are going to post more x100v tutorials. Bye.
The flash tutorial definitely intrigues me. Especially with the leaf shutter and the built in ND filter, it seems like the built in flash on this camera might actually be usable compared to other cameras
If you map AF ON to the fn1 button (next to the shutter button), then when you're in MF, you can just snap focus with the fn1 button, then get your finger straight onto the shutter release for the shot. Now that the focus is set, you can just click away without the camera trying to re-focus each time (as it's in MF). I simply never need AF-S any more.
Thank you very much for such a concise to the point tutorial, would you please make one about how to use the camera settings in long exposure and night or stars photography.
I’ll add that to my list, it’s not the ideal camera for it really with a 35mm lens. The main thing I can think of is to turn off the noise reduction slide!
Hi Goughie, this is great thanks. Tried to turn of Flash symbol and Dynamic range on the Display custom settings > EVF / LED but for some reason they still appear. Any ideas?
In the video you mention you had tried to replicate Acros 100 film with the jpeg settings curious to know what they were. Great content btw keep it up 👍
The flash with leaf shutter is the least talked about feature with this camera. Do you have any example photos showing fill in flash on a bright sunny day?
Lol RUclips recommended it after I found 4 separate answers, for me first weird settings were (going from Panasonic G80): * how the **** can i set autofocus point on touch screen, focus with half press and take photo with pressing button? - icon on screen, set touch function to area * how to see histogram, vertical line etc. (wrench, display, something, turn stuff on the screen) * how to switch optical viewfinder to electronic? - lever on the front * how to enter enter qmenu - tiny button on thumb rest - how to use touch screen with qmenu? hmm ... it really works better with joystick * focus peaking? * why the hell there is million video settings? i really don't know it's likely best to find first 4k, set it to 29.97fps/100mbit or to find first FHD and set it to 59.9? fps. 50mbit than trying to realize if settings are even different or it's just cycling through several of them. Now I have to realize what's tiny button on top or on front lever good for, but I have one mystery button on Panasonic that I discovered by accident and I don't remember it's function. But you answered all of it.
It’s the same as an old SLR vs a new mirrorless camera Electronic is the same as looking at a screen. It’s all digital The optical isn’t a screen, it’s like looking through binoculars, with like an overlay showing some information Sorry! Its hard to explain!
I turned on the „movie silent mode“ so it saves the movie settings if you switch between stills and movie mode. The settings have to be changed on the touch screen and the wheels are deactivated.
Can someone help me please. I’m new using Fuji.. idk what I did but the flash setting are not “selected”. I believe i deactivated that option and I don’t remember how to make it work again. Please don’t give hate.. I’m just new to this camera.
There are a bunch of videos on settings for the x100v already. Show us the technique you are using with the flash on bright sunny day and you will distinguish yourself from other videos. Do the flash stuff and you will teach/share something interesting. Thanks much.
Definitely not the right camera for continuous Af, I have found using spot focus and making the box the smallest setting improves speed and accuracy somewhat! But definitely nothing like a normal mirrorless camera!
@@Goughie but here is the thing - how does a $1500 camera in 2021 not have good continuous AF??!?! I switched to Sony four years back after 15 years with Canon, and it has spoiled me, as the AF is literally perfect. How is AF even still a talking point? 😂
I got my X100V just a few days ago, and this video helped a lot getting started. Thank you!
Just got mine yesterday, used, and your video helped me blast right through the setup. Thanks Goughie!
I was looking for this for so long, great video, sending good vibes from Mexico

Great video
Hi Goughie, this is great thanks. Tried to turn of Flash symbol and Dynamic range on the Display custom settings > EVF / LED but for some reason they still appear. Any ideas?
Can you explain the Drive Delete button and how to use it, not shown anywhere,

I do! But they’ve all just been experimental shots just in the garden at this stage! I’ll make a video at some point and share some of them

What's the difference between electronic view finder and optical view finder?
It’s the same as an old SLR vs a new mirrorless camera
Electronic is the same as looking at a screen. It’s all digital

What drive mode are you in, it could be that, a few of the drive modes don’t let you use flash
@@Goughie after a while I figure it out lol. Thanks for you advice and taking your time to answer :)

Continuous AF is absolute shit with this camera. For the money, not at all worth it

The flash mode I am is “M” but can’t change it to “TTL” I’m new using Fuji, I need help, please 🥲.
