hi bram, i notice on canon r7, the sensor is a little bit wider than what canon apsc supposed to be, can you measure with the another apsc cameras from canon? i dont think so canon r7 has 1,6 times crop factor
Hi Leonard! It’s definitely aps-c 😃 I think it’s the IBIS that adds an extra “border” around the sensor so it can move in there. That’s why it looks a bit bigger than on the R10 for example.
Nice video. I just purchased the lense but am about to return. The autofocus motor noise is too loud and picked up by my shotgun mic just as you illustrated. The main purpose of the camera for me is my hobby of family videos and pictures so run and gun. I don't know what other quick mic solution I could implement that would give me as much freedom as the shotgun mic without having to pay an additional ton of money? Remove somehow in post?
I know what you mean… it’s such a shame there’s so much noise. There are a couple solutions but nothing ideal though. You could not use autofocus and go manual, maybe that will help. Also, you could use a lav mic that transmits to a wireless DJI or Rode wireless mic. But that only works if you have 1-2 subjects. Personally, I often shoot family b-roll and just don’t use the sound, and add music on it. Really great to add another layer of emotion to your videos! Removing in post will just be too much of a hassle… like additional work you won’t want to do. Honestly, I use the Sigma mainly for studio and b-roll, either where I can control the sound or without sound completely. For run and gun, I just got myself the RF 14-35mm F4L. I think that might be my new favorite for on the road! Wow what a lengthy reply 😂

@@coppensbram Thanks for the tips. One day, I'll graduate to making interesting family videos but right now I'm just recording memories as they occur (hit record and cut/transition, title). So I need the audio. On top of it all, I just got a Lense communication error (Using Viltrox adapter) so I think that's a wrap and it's going back. Thanks again for the insights.
@@gmoneygmoney1018 ah yeah there might be issues with speed boosters… I use the regular adapter that came with the R7.
Try out the RF 14-35. It’s more expensive, but the quality is awesome, focal range is similar (but much wider), and future proofed for full frame too! Maybe I’ll do a video on it soon 😊
@@coppensbram Thanks!
At 18mm, does it have vignetting problem?
I haven’t noticed anything… I’ve recorded all of the A-roll in my recent videos with it at 18mm. I’ll take some photos to find out for sure! I think the vignetting only occurs when you use a speed booster.
