    Thanks for the video....my Canon 80D shutter died and the cost to replace was too much to justify (as well as parts not available) so I was forced to upgrade. It was either 90D or R7....I have the Sigma 18-35 AND Sigma 70-200 2.8....I shoot a lot of sports and wildlife so the R7 was the choice....seeing this video makes me a little more comfortable with my Sigma lens on this camera.

    Hi Bram! Great video .One question, do you think the lens is too bulky or heavy for a person with back problems like me?

    • @coppensbram
      @coppensbram  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words! Hmmm that’s tough to answer… it depends how you’re using it… do you shout hand-held a lot? Maybe this helps: I’ve had 2 lower back surgeries over the past 5 years 😬 and I had no problem taking this lens out with me on short walks in the forest etc. (1-2h). I would not treat this lens as my take out anywhere all-round lens though - it doesn’t even fit in my sling bag (peak design 3L)… I mainly use it at home to shoot A-roll for these RUclips videos. On the other hand… if you start looking at full frame RF zoom lenses… they’re also heavy. My favorite all-round lens is the RF 14-35 F4L at the moment. It’s only around 500g, nice and wide, full frame (so good once you upgrade) and the quality is excellent. It’s only F4 though, and it’s definitely more expensive… but I absolute love it! I’ll do a video on it in the next weeks 😊 Hope this helps! Maybe buy and try the Sigma? You can always return it!

    Hey Sir. Fantastic presentation and editing. I rock an 80D body and really consider the Sigma 18-35. I am very used to Canon, but the FX30 makes me want to switch, about which I am not sure, since I am a very small creator with a budget. I also doubt my audience would notice let alone appreciate the full frame of the Sony. So maybe getting something like the R7 in the future would be a better idea. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. Btw You are a top creator to me, and just gained a new sub!

    • @coppensbram
      @coppensbram  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the kind words 👊
      The FX30 is actually also an aps-c camera, not full frame. It is an excellent camera though… from what I’ve heard. Keep in mind though that it’s intended for video only. Sony has a way better lens selection, with cheaper alternatives from Sigma and Tamron.
      The R7 will be a better hybrid camera, excellent for both photography and video. The RF glass is expensive though (but very very good), especially if you want wide aperture L-glass. But the combo R7 + Sigma 18-35 is excellent for video, and doesn’t cost a kidney 😂
      Personally, I prefer the ergonomics and interface of Canon… even at the premium.
      It all depends what you want to do with your camera! Hope this helps 😊

      @@coppensbram Hey, thanks for the amazing insights and the correction. Actually, I am mainly concerned with video.
      Yet, currently, I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on an FX30 and a lens for it. With something like an R7 in the future, on the other hand, I could improve my videos now with the 18-35 and then get the body later. I'd be happy to know what you think of that.
      Also, whether you also mess with Sony. Your channel deserves to grow ASAP.

    • @coppensbram
      @coppensbram  Год назад +1

      Honestly, I’ve used the R7 and Sigma combo for a ton of videos both on YT here, or even for client work. It handles everything just great!
      I’ve learned so much by using it on daily basis. Personally I think it’s an awesome stepping stone to get into videography (or photography… or both). I’d say just get started! It’s not about the gear but how you use it 😉 you can always upgrade the gear if you feel it starts to limit you!
      And yes… I’d love to try Sony gear too… but it’s tough to justify the cost of another ecosystem 😂 maybe if my channel gets a bit more traction haha!

      Thanks for this additional reply. I really appreciate it. I understand what you mean, but I kinda decided on the Fx30. That doesn't mean the Canon is less awesome, nor that I won't make up my mind.
      But based on my research it seems that the Sony is the best for what I do and want to do in the future. Although, it's also almost twice the price where I am based, which is a bummer.
      Regards!

    Do you have any problem with the IBIS for handheld shoot? I heard some people having jittery video comes out of it while using the ibis with the sigma 18-35.....
    and how about adapting other ef lenses that have IS? i also heard that the r7 ibis and IS of ef lenses will "fight" thus making the video unusable... do you have any experience with adapted EF lenses with IS?

      I haven't noticed any trouble with the R7's IBIS and this specific lens. I've used it for many videos and b-roll and haven't had any jitter. And I mostly shoot handheld too, works like a charm!
      I haven't tested many EF lenses since I try to only get the newest RF lenses. But I did try the EF 17-55 f2.8 though. Worked fine too, no jitter... however the focus motor was so loud that I returned it.

    Hello Bram , i need your help if is it possible..
    Recently i sold my Lumix S5 because i don't like so much the AF and also, is not-necessary ( to me ) have an a fullframe camera.. ( atleast, at the moment )
    So, like i said, i sold it, and then , now i have money to get another camera..
    I am looking for the best money/quality camera, as usual.. that's what all we want..
    Then, watching YT vídeos i find this one and i have doubts about wich cameras i should buy, Canon Eos R7 and Sony Zve10..
    I can buy the sony about 650€ plus 500 more or less about 11mm f1.8 lens.. 1150€ +/-
    Then the Canon is about 1550€ body+18-150mm+EF adaptor + 2battery extra. ( i want to sold the 18-150mm after then buy the 16mm f2.8 )
    What do you think.. wich one do you recommend more..
    The money is not the problem because i sold the S5 more than the price of the canon.. so i can buy one of this without problem..
    thanks!

    • @coppensbram
      @coppensbram  Год назад +1

      Hmm I haven't used the ZVE-10... but I'll try to give you my 2 cents 🙂
      Actually... you didn't mention what your use case... I'm assuming it's video?
      The R7 is a fantastic camera for the money. The video quality you get out of it is fantastic, with IBIS, 7K oversampled video, 4K60 and CLOG3. It is also fr superior to the Sony in terms of photography. I would not purchase the kit lens though, just get the body. And instead of the 16mm f2.8, I'd buy the Sigma 18-35! This is the weak point of Canon's R cameras: no 3rd party lens support at the moment. So if you want awesome lenses, you'll need to use older EF lenses with an adapter, or shell out for the L-series RF lenses (cost a lot... but are really, really good).
      The ZVE-10 will be cheaper and lighter, and will have much more options for lenses (Sigma, Tamron, ...) that are both great and not too expensive. But... it's not great for photos. And... while the video out of it will be good enough for casual vlogs, and RUclips videos, you'll probably hit the boundaries of what it can do rather quickly.
      So it all depends what you're looking to do...
      Hope this helps! Just my quick thoughts 👊🙂

You get a lot of the sharpness by using good lenses 😊 I mainly use RF 14-35 and 24-105 F4L for B-roll and Sigma 18-35 for A-roll. But… a lot is about lighting too… like a key and fill light. The main purpose of the camera for me is my hobby of family videos and pictures so run and gun. I know what you mean… it’s such a shame there’s so much noise. There are a couple solutions but nothing ideal though.
      You could not use autofocus and go manual, maybe that will help.
      Also, you could use a lav mic that transmits to a wireless DJI or Rode wireless mic. But that only works if you have 1-2 subjects.
      Personally, I often shoot family b-roll and just don’t use the sound, and add music on it. Really great to add another layer of emotion to your videos!
