Hey, dude. I just bought myself a Canon R10 and was considering 2 of these lenses to buy until I came across your video. Everything is clear, understandable, cool told. I made my choice. For social media, I think 17-55 will be more universal, and Sigma will be more suitable for creativity

I'm looking for a good Cannon, then I could use this lens, but I'll have to save up a little. I have the money for a camera, I have the Lumix FZ 300 and I kind of grew out of it, just not good for doing on location stuff. I have the Lumix on a tripod in the studio so I rarely have to move it and adjust, but I have to focus it all the time, the auto focus seems to blur and then focuses in, but then when you move, it goes out of focus again. Frustrating, I'll get there one day... just have to find the right Cannon Camera. Well off to work now, but I saw your video and had to watch. Thanks for the great information!
Glad you liked it! Does your LUMIX camera have an option for manual focus? That may help if the depth of field isn’t too shallow. You could measure out the distance and set the proper focus manually and it’ll stay. As long as you’re not moving too much forward or backwards you’ll stay in focus.
@@CamberFilmSchool It does have a manual focus, I didn't know that it would stay, I think I also need to adjust my white balance. I just did an interview with my first national company and the video came out all grainy and just horrible. Yea, investing in some lights is the best way to fix the grainy issue. I'm about to get the R7 and the Sigma lens! I've seen many people making praise of this combo and I can definitely see why. Crazy that the Sigma lens is very old and is still the top choice for video, I wish Sigma could make the RF version with all the new recent tech.
That would be useful. I’m not sure why they haven’t yet, but I’d imagine something is on the way soon since it’s pretty obvious that Canon is pushing everything towards the RF mount system.
@@CamberFilmSchool I think Canon is stingy with Sigma and Tamron, but I saw someone in a forum say that this year they might give them greenlight to produce RF lenses. That would make this lens so much smaller

Thanks for a very insightful review of these lenses. I have the R7 with the kit lens (18-150) and want a wide angle. My question is in your opinion would the RF 16mm 2.8 be more useful over the RF 10-18 4.5 for both interior home family shots and architecture/travel/street/landscape. I know the 16 will be better in lower light, but I guess I’m wondering if you have experienced which of these would provide sharper pics in daylight with the R7? I can always use e a flash or increase lighting for low light while using the 4.5 if even need be.
The channel is about video, but the same lens would be good for photos. It really depends on the types of photos you’re wanting to take as well as your budget.
really good suggestions .. i am really thankful fr the sigma 24-70 fr my sony a7s3 which u gifted me. Its really helpful to hv all the focal lengths frm 1 lens and its my main lens and on my camera 90% of tte time. Really like shooting with the 70mm and 85mm focal lengths nowadays, like the new perspective frm these focal lengths and the sweet bokeh
The problem I've found with the Sigma 18-35mm when paired with the ef/rf mount, is that it does not fit my Scorp 2 gimble due to balancing and clearance.. which is why I came to this video! Have you had any luck with the sigma 18-35 and the added adapter fitting on a gimble?
I haven’t tried, but what kind of gimbal are you using? My gimbal has a really high capacity payload. But I also try to stick with prime lenses on gimbals.
Hi sir ! I just got used r7 on market just now! After watched your video, recently im using canon 600d,I thought just want to upgrade to 90d but it seems this is more better ya sir? Is it good decision i made? Oh btw currently im using 17-55mm (currently in this video),is it really good if im using this lens on r7 during portrait and wedding shoots? Appreciate your reply ✨
The R7 is a great camera. But it would require the use of an adapter for that lens to work with it since it’s an R mount instead of EF. I wouldn’t use that lens for portrait or wedding shots. I’d invest in a higher quality lens.
I’m new to the camera world, I’m planning on getting the canon r7 but Not sure which lens to get between the sigma 18-35 f1.8 or the sigma 24-70 f2.8. For a beginner which one would you suggest first? Thanks
I would go with the 18-35mm for a couple reasons. First is the equivalent focal length. The 18-35mm on the R7 is like using a 28-56mm whereas the 24-70 will be like using a 38-112mm because its an APS-C sensor and will make it a lot harder to get the wider shots with the 24-70mm. The other reason is because of the f/1.8 on the 18-35mm because that is going to get a lot more light into the camera and get you better overall shots on the R7.
Hey, so a few months ago I asked you what would be a good lens for a Canon EOS 70D, to make my videos even MORE crystal clear and you recommended the Canon Lens EFS 17-55mm F/2.8 IS USM. I haven't gotten the chance to get it just yet but I have it in my cart ready to go, before I do, do you still recommend this lens for a better more clear quality?
This one is definitely better because you’re going to have less noise from being able to get in more light with the f/1.8 aperture in a lower light setting. But the overall quality of the two lenses is fine when the lighting is sufficient.
Hi - thanks for the great videos! i’m buying an R7 and like sound of the sigma 18-35 f1.8 for vlogging inside with plenty of bokeh :) i need an adapter of course as you say - would you suggest a viltrox r3 0.71 speed booster (to give me even wider and lower f stop?) or a standard ef to rf adapter would be best for my use case? thanks again!!
Unfortunately the RF lenses are quite expensive and this one is a few hundred over budget. The 24-105mm f/4 would be good ( amzn.to/46mZjGj ). Otherwise you could get a cheaper EF version, but then you’ll need an adapter that’ll drive up the price more and the focus likely won’t work as well.
I wouldn’t rely on any camera or lens stabilization when it comes to video. You’re going to want to is a tripod/monopod/gimbal depending on the situation. That kind of stabilization is designed for photos.
@@CamberFilmSchool forgot to mention for the canon r7. I was thinking what would be the best zoom lens for that camera if you were taking night picture for a concert
I’m assuming you’ll be somewhat far away so I’d go with this Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens ( amzn.to/3Hkq2Zq ). They’re not cheap, but it’s a really good lens that’ll give you really far reach (it’s like a 140-300mm on your APS-C camera).
