Quick answer: Yes. More thorough answer: R8 is a fullframe camera and the Sigma 18-35mm is a crop frame lens, so the R8 will automatically use the 1,6x crop mode when this lens is used. 👍🏻
It's a video full of really useful explanations. I have a question, what is the ND filter you use at the end? I'm curious about the product name~ Thank you very much~~
Another great one! Should I regret getting the standard EF-R Adapter from Canon and not opting for the one with the variable ND? Also, what would you suggest for my situation? I may be wrong, but I think I can use 100 ISO in C-Log 3.
You can use it, but you lose a lot of the dynamic range. I am thinking about getting the adapter with the VND next, unless I pull the trigger with Sony FX30. So if you’re thinking about it, get it :)
@@potbtech if you have the VND EF-adapter, there is no reason whatsoever to use any other VND’s. The advantage of having the VND on the adapter (closer to the sensor) is that it has zero vignetting and it does not do that X shape even when used at the darkest setting. If you have the VND adapter and you add another VND in front of the lens, it is most likely going to cause a lot color issues and heavy vignetting.
@@timovehkaoja Hey, thanks again. I am fully aware of not using two NDs. I want to know which to pick between the adapter with the NDs from Canon and those made by Tiffen?
@@potbtech oh, my bad there, shouldnt read comments when you’re tired 😂 I would go with the Canon adapter VND. Hi! I tested it but because of the changing aperture I opted for 18-35mm f/1.8. I had some issues with the IBIS with 17-70mm also that I couldn’t resolve. Before R7 I used the 17-70mm with Nikon D7200 and it had no issues there, except for the chromatic aberration and softness at 60-70mm when shooting wide open.

I want to know this lens have 1.6 factor for canon r7 and And it converts this camera to 28-56? (Sorry, my English is not good and it has wrong spelling)
@@timovehkaoja So the actual 18-35 shows on the crop frames? Is it okay to use this lens on a full frame like the 6d mark ii? And do you think it can take the place of 35mm f1.4 sigma art for me?
@@hojjatjokar3065 The focal lenght of the lens doesn’t change, the crop factor makes it 29-56mm equivalent. This lens can be used on a fullframe, but it creates a very strong black vignette on focal lenghts from 18mm to 28mm. If you use it in crop mode, it works the same as it would on the R7.
I have to wait over two minutes for the video to actually start, really boring. Then, you forget you need to multiply the focal length by the crop factor: (35mm x 1.6 x 2) = 112. So, the minimum shutter speed at 35mm should be 1/125 for sharp pictures. Furthermore, 24 fps does give the "cinema" look, but for me it creates too much motion blur with the 180º rule (1/50). I like to shoot video at 30 fps and 1/60, I find it gives sharper results and you still get a natural enough motion blur.
Well, it is my way of making videos, terribly sorry if it bothers you. With my photography (and IBIS included), the basic rule has been working just fine, so I am speaking from my experience. Use which ever framerate suits you, as long as it is as close as possible to 180’. I use 24fps or 25fps and then it is 1/50.
