Do We Have Our BOOSTER GOLD? | DCU Booster Gold Rumored Casting

Booster Gold is kind of a super baller. The more I learn about booster gold the more I'm very excited to see him hit the DCU and potentially change it forever... in a good way! The cast however is something I'm still yet to be completely sold on. If true that is! #boostergold #DCU

I really believe we will be seeing an older Booster because of Ted's placement in the timeline and that being the case I think Kumil would be awesome in the role, its a shame that he isn't comic accurate to the design but that's the only downside and I trust James Gunn to cook with whatever he decides to make, maybe the series will even act as a sort of sequel to Blue Beetle and its post-credits scene, show us what Ted's been up to together with Booster, would be fun to have their dynamic right away

James Gunn also mentioned that he only chooses actors when the script is ready, and Booster Gold seems to be behind Superman, Supergirl, Waller, Peacemaker Season 2, and Lanterns, which will be released in the same year as Supergirl but is still in the process of casting the main actors. The fact that Kumail already seemed to have some camaraderie with Gunn and some of his friends makes me wary of this early casting-it feels like "favoritism, camaraderie of friends." I really hate when they choose actors based on their relationships rather than who best fits the character.

I'm guessing that's why he hasn't openly said it will be Kumail he just has had his eye on him for the role. I think he just likes working with people he is comfortable with and knows they can do the job. Lots of directors do the same casting friends. I do get the difference between doing that with OG stories/characters and prestablished characters though. We end up with odd casts, like his bro as maxwell lord. I think he's said cause some actors can be d-bags that hurt production, so he'd rather not put up with that if possible. Time will tell I guess.

Kumail Nanjiani seems like a cool choice, but the fact that he's almost 50 really bothers me. He could only play Booster Gold for a short time in the DCU. Booster's main story happened when he was young, and having an older actor would mean making some retcons to the character's chronology, which I don't like. You might argue that Batman has undergone numerous retcons, showing him both at the beginning and at the height of his career, but Booster has been almost untouched. He should be introduced from the very start.
For example, I don't mind the actor they chose for Perry White because he fits the proposed age. But I have similar concerns about Nathan Fillion's age for the same reasons I have with Kumail.

Yeah, the longevity of the character really worries me and the changes they'd have to make to facilitate that in live action. If it's good, I'm all for it, but they're going to have to be on point with what they are trying to do if he is in fact cast.

Honestly Kumil is a terrible choice for booster gold not only is he not white but he’s honestly not funny at all. not to mention he’s in his mid 50s. if this is gunns choice he’s done a horrible job at casting booster gold. So far gunns castings have been on point I hope this isn’t true.

@dro2k728 I find him funny, but I get if you don't. I'd be more concerned that he looks nothing like comics Booster if it wasn't for Gunns resume with characters. Plus, if Mcbride comes thru writing, I think that'll quell the people who're worried about gunns humor(even though I think it'd work for booster). But I get the concern, if the rumor has any weight, they're diverging so far the show has got to be undeniable!
