Great video mate I've been asking this question since this centre differential came out. Now would it fit vorteks 4x4 3s and what would the part numbers be for any part change ?. Ps running 4s plus on vorteks 😊
Based on what I was seeing when I looked at various chassis online I believe they're all identical in that area between the 3S and 4S cars up till the Mojave so it should fit the same way as it did in the video. If you look up the exploded view for the Mojave 4s You can find the part numbers on there. Thanks for watching!
If you go on the horizon website and open the page for the 4S Mojave about Midway down you'll see an option for shopable exploded view. They have one for pretty much all of their cars and you can use that to find whatever part numbers you need!
@DoRC I did manage to find it. I was having a really hard time finding it using Google but it ended up being easy just navigating from the support link on the website
@BradWorona Nice yeah when vehicles first come out googling new parts can be very hit or miss because until those parts start getting available on third-party sites I think Google has a hard time automatically crawling that information and making it available. It's always best just to go to the support for the product and look up the parts through the exploded diagram.
Cool vid, on the flip side yeas it will make the drive train less vulnerable in terms of stress,, BUT it will sacrifice some Of the snappyness and bitethat you had before = FUN
It can do that but if you're worried about that problem you can just put silicone ear plugs in it and it'll mostly lock it up giving you pretty much that same snappiness without sacrificing the drivetrain protection too much.
Absolutely. The center differential is far superior to a slipper clutch. That's why pretty much all modern RCs that cost more than a couple hundred bucks have them. Very good upgrade.
I think the increase in weight will be negligible. You're only talking about a couple of ounces at maximum. Not something that the vast majority of us would even notice.
If anyone is curious, typhon/bigrock arms are about 100mm. 4s hubs look like they have a bit more offset, so you may get about the same width, better driveshafts, stronger arms. I`m definitely going this way with my bigrock
Honestly, I would have argued against it being that easy! Well done, Sir! I was especially surprised about the center drive shaft fitting without modification! I would love to see you drop this in a Big Rock and give it a proper thrashing! 🤤
@@jerryvolpini7987 I was actually surprised any modification was required at all but I'm glad it was fairly straightforward. Unfortunately I don't have a big rock but I'll definitely be giving this under differential some abuse in the Mojave. Video will be out tomorrow!
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. They all take the same slipper module and where it installs looks identical on all of the different models. You will likely have to do the same thing I did on this chassis in order for it to fit properly but I don't see any reason why it won't be able to be installed in any of the 3 or 4 s vehicles
Yeah fortunately I had just bought a 500 piece attachment kit from Amazon. You can get them for like 30 bucks and they're really handy to have. Nothing in there will last that long but all of the choices means you'll pretty much always have what you need.
Yeah but did you notice how he didn't actually show it being installed? I'm sure you can jam it in there if you push hard enough but good luck getting it back out again especially once some grit gets in and does its thing like it usually does in the dovetails. He even said in the video it was super tight. That's not what you want. I would recommend making the clearance so that it installs easily. If you don't you're probably going to be pretty unhappy when it comes to time to take it out later.
Hi mate. That's a great video. But could you put part numbers so that I can fit this to my grandson arrma granite. I'm so sick os this slipper clutch 😢 😅😂😂
All you need is the center differential itself the power module and the motor mount plate. You can look at the exploded view for the fee 2.5 outcast 4S and get the part numbers from there.
@@DoRC I have the case and the diff. All I need is the motor plate (because the case doesn’t come with one and the plates are still on preorder with no ETA) and I fit it in the chassis with no motor or diff but the case fits and everything lines up. No trimming needed like yours did.
@PigglyWigglyDeluxe Yes without the differential it'll fit fine because you can put it in an angle. With the differential in there it becomes a lot more difficult because the splines on the differential have to line up with this lines on the rear diff input shaft. That's what was binding on me.
So its no longer a friction fit. It easily slides out now after removing the screws. They will iodate the current 4s and 3s to make it compatible. Im sure before xmas
No the fit is pretty much the same as with the 3S ones. When they're brand new they all come out pretty easily. It becomes more difficult as soon as any grit gets in the dovetails. None of them are designed to be a friction fit from the factory though. They're supposed to be held in by the little block that sits in front of them and the latch at the top. It will be interesting to see if they update the other chassis to be compatible.

Unfortunately no. The center differential is quite a bit thicker than the slipper clutch and uses different size bearings. It's got to be the whole module.
I think I've seen a couple of videos on RUclips where people did. The basic chassis design is identical between all of the 3S vehicles so it shouldn't be any different than this.
@@ruuster83 Yeah I've been itching to find out too. I was so curious about this I ended up putting this video out before my first video on the Mojave. That'll be coming out tomorrow so stay tuned!
There are two main advantages to a center differential. The first one is the allows you to adjust the fluid in that center differential to tune how the truck behaves. If you run thinner central differential fluid under heavy acceleration the truck will be less likely to wheelie because power will be allowed to bleed off to the front tires. The second and more important benefit is that it allows energy to dissipate through the drivetrain. For example without If you land a jump on just the back wheels when those wheels start to spin up or slow down the entire drivetrain has to take all of that inertia because it's all locked together. A centric differential decouples the front from the rear so that those loads can be dissipated so it really helps save the drivetrain.
Why not just use the Mojave chassis also? The 4s Outcast and Kraton chassis are dirt cheap. Won't the Mojave be the same as the Kraton and only a little longer than an Outcast?
Not sure about the length. I'd have to measure them. Hopefully they'll come out with updated chassis for the other two that already have the updated area for the spur gear
Based on the way the chassis looks I don't think the process would be any different. All the vehicles other than the Mojave appear to be identical in that area.

Hello! I saw that on the platform I saw that on the 4s v2 platform they say that it goes directly, without any modification to the chassis, what do you think? maybe you can make a video for the chassis of 4s v2..thanks
I don't have one currently but at least in the pictures I've seen of the chassis the V2 Outcast and Kraton appear to look identical to the 3S models. It may be possible to install the differential without modification even on the 3S models as I've seen a couple other people do it but I think creating that extra room will make life a lot easier especially when it comes to taking it back out again.
@@DoRC Thanks for the reply, all good'
All i can say is THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for being part of the channel!
Been wondering this ever since the Mojave was announced. Definitely getting this for my Granite. Bye bye stupid slipper clutch!
Yeah I think it's going to be a pretty popular upgrade!
Cool video, You've made me want to do this to my new Vendetta and you used the Infraction as a test which is based off the same platform as my Vendetta. Maybe someday i'll do the Center Diff mod to it plus a 4s system and the metal 4s front
ear diffs. One last thing which new 4s chassis would fit the 3s Infraction\Vendetta.
I think the chassis are different lengths so I don't think either one of them would.
@@DoRC Oh okay, Although i haven't driven mine yet so i don't how it will hold up but i can definitely look into a center diff swap someday if the stock slipper fails. It will just require some mods to make it work.
@@cjchannel12RC Yeah you might find that the on road cars don't really have too much problems and you won't need a center differential but it's always good to have :-)
Going in the 4s kraton for sure 😊
Let me know how it goes!
Working phenomenal
Did you do this?
Dang can't do this on my 6s powered 3s typhon. Won't leave enough clearance for my max 8.
Can you put the Max 8 on the receiver box or will that foul on the body?
@DoRC nah the body is in the way. It's been running 6s with a 2700kv TP 4030 cm in it for over a year now so if anything was gonna happen I'm sure it would have by now.
Hallo do you think I can use it on my Big Rock 3s
Yes it should work on any of the 3s vehicles
Great video mate I've been asking this question since this centre differential came out. Now would it fit vorteks 4x4 3s and what would the part numbers be for any part change ?. Ps running 4s plus on vorteks 😊
Based on what I was seeing when I looked at various chassis online I believe they're all identical in that area between the 3S and 4S cars up till the Mojave so it should fit the same way as it did in the video. If you look up the exploded view for the Mojave 4s You can find the part numbers on there. Thanks for watching!
Does anyone have the part numbers? I think I found the case but can't find the diff
Does a 4268 motor fits this chassis?
I'm pretty sure it will but I haven't put a motor that large in one of these in a while and I don't remember if I used an aftermarket mount or not
@@DoRC i am asking because the mega is available for Just 169€ and i got a 2500kv 4268 and 4s ESC in stock...
Cool vid, on the flip side yeas it will make the drive train less vulnerable in terms of stress,, BUT it will sacrifice some
Of the snappyness and bitethat you had before = FUN
It can do that but if you're worried about that problem you can just put silicone ear plugs in it and it'll mostly lock it up giving you pretty much that same snappiness without sacrificing the drivetrain protection too much.
already ordered the parts!
Nice!
So late to the party but its been a hard year ether way thos is a awesome idea glad i found it
Yeah it's a pretty easy upgrade!
Do you think I should throw one in the kraton 4s
Absolutely. The center differential is far superior to a slipper clutch. That's why pretty much all modern RCs that cost more than a couple hundred bucks have them. Very good upgrade.
@@DoRCthank I will be doing that once they are back on stock of course
@lucapoehland1958 definitely a worthy upgrade.
Dont have my vorteks 3s anymore..but hey nice to know it could be an option there😮
Yeah I think we'll see a lot of center diffs adapted to the three and four s vehicles. Thanks for watching!
Be nice if you could do a weight comparison between the two setups.😁
I think the increase in weight will be negligible. You're only talking about a couple of ounces at maximum. Not something that the vast majority of us would even notice.
Thanks for doing all the work. FIRST!!!
Happy to help and thanks for watching :-)
You. Are. Awesome.
Thanks:)
what are the parts you need?
You'll need the sentry differential in the center differential housing and the motor mount plate.
That's great news ) But how about Mojave arms on a bigrock 3s, or maybe typhon. How do they compare in terms of length?
I don't have either one of those but the Mojave arms are approximately 93mm pin Center to pin Center
@@DoRC thanks!!! This helps as well
@T0x1c0v3r You're welcome!
If anyone is curious, typhon/bigrock arms are about 100mm. 4s hubs look like they have a bit more offset, so you may get about the same width, better driveshafts, stronger arms. I`m definitely going this way with my bigrock
Sweet let me know how it goes!
As always, Scotty...u da man !!💯💪
Glad you enjoyed!
My big rock might get a reprieve from the bin now that a center diff will fit
I think it's going to make a lot of people happy!
Do you think it will fit in the outcast4sv2
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. They all take the same slipper module and where it installs looks identical on all of the different models. You will likely have to do the same thing I did on this chassis in order for it to fit properly but I don't see any reason why it won't be able to be installed in any of the 3 or 4 s vehicles
My Senton needs that!
Definitely a great upgrade for any 3S or 4S truck
Will this fit the big rock 3s and the senton 3s?
Yes it should.
These are going to be out of stock at Jennys for all eternity.
What did you use to grind down the chassis?
Dremel.
A Dremel with a flap wheel.
@@georgetekbruh he said Dremel like 5 times I knew that he used a Dremel. I meant what attachment.
@@DoRCah the only attachment I don't have.
Yeah fortunately I had just bought a 500 piece attachment kit from Amazon. You can get them for like 30 bucks and they're really handy to have. Nothing in there will last that long but all of the choices means you'll pretty much always have what you need.
Jay tee done this yesterday on a senton no trimming, cool video tho
Yeah but did you notice how he didn't actually show it being installed? I'm sure you can jam it in there if you push hard enough but good luck getting it back out again especially once some grit gets in and does its thing like it usually does in the dovetails. He even said in the video it was super tight. That's not what you want.
I would recommend making the clearance so that it installs easily. If you don't you're probably going to be pretty unhappy when it comes to time to take it out later.
@@DoRC good point, got a new subscriber
@@daig1984 awesome thanks!
Thanks for this defo getting one for my senton 3s. Bye bye slipper clutch
It's a definite improvement.
@@DoRC just been looking for the parts and came across the arrma red aluminum diff. Is this a worthy upgrade what material is the standard diff.
Hi mate. That's a great video. But could you put part numbers so that I can fit this to my grandson arrma granite. I'm so sick os this slipper clutch 😢
😅😂😂
All you need is the center differential itself the power module and the motor mount plate. You can look at the exploded view for the fee 2.5 outcast 4S and get the part numbers from there.
I put a center diff in my k4 a couple weeks ago. I knew it would fit when I compared exploded views
You mean without the rest of the module?
@@DoRC I have the case and the diff. All I need is the motor plate (because the case doesn’t come with one and the plates are still on preorder with no ETA) and I fit it in the chassis with no motor or diff but the case fits and everything lines up. No trimming needed like yours did.
@PigglyWigglyDeluxe Yes without the differential it'll fit fine because you can put it in an angle. With the differential in there it becomes a lot more difficult because the splines on the differential have to line up with this lines on the rear diff input shaft. That's what was binding on me.
nice video, getting into them makes great content!!! 💯👍👍
Yep it's what I love to do! Thanks for watching :-)
Will it fit the granite
Yes. You will want to probably trim the chassis the same way I showed in the video but it will fit the same.
I put it up on FB!
Thank you :-)
So its no longer a friction fit.
I want to stuff that in a vorteks 3s blx with a 4074 motor and 150A esc and run it on 4S
Do it!
@@DoRCI know running that on 4S is going to lower my rpm, how far should I gear up to compensate for the lost rpms? Im going from 3S with the stock 3200kv so a rough 35,500 rpm down to a 4S with a 2050kv which will be around 30,300 rpm? Or should I just toss in 4S diffs and cvd’s and run it balls out at 6S?
@thatmadscientistfromny5362 yeah that math seems about right. I would maybe go two teeth on the pinion and see how that goes.
@@DoRCwill 4s front and rear diffs fit my vorteks? Im sure Im gonna grenade the stock 3s diffs in short order and after I get my big bore shocks and cvd’s I want to run my vorteks on 6S and see if it will hold it
@@thatmadscientistfromny5362 yes they will.
Great video, have been thinking about this since they released the 4s Mojave. Question though, can’t you just replace the 3s slipper clutch with the center diff and keep the 3s power module? Does the center diff fit on its own? Then you wouldn’t have to mod the chassis. Would love to know
Unfortunately no. The center differential is quite a bit thicker than the slipper clutch and uses different size bearings. It's got to be the whole module.
You honestly expected it to fit in there??
@@666cemetaryslut that’s what she said
thaaaaaaank you man!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You're welcome Thanks for watching!
Anyone done this to a granite yet ?
I think I've seen a couple of videos on RUclips where people did. The basic chassis design is identical between all of the 3S vehicles so it shouldn't be any different than this.
only my big rock is getting a diff. the vendettas get spools and the granite will be fine w a slipper
That sounds pretty reasonable. Unless you're having a problem with the slipper the smaller vehicles probably don't need it
@@DoRC thanks for this quick video,, we've been dying to know if it will fit
@@ruuster83 Yeah I've been itching to find out too. I was so curious about this I ended up putting this video out before my first video on the Mojave. That'll be coming out tomorrow so stay tuned!
You are awesome.
Thanks You're awesome for watching!
As a noob….what’s the benefit of doing this?
@@DoRC Thanks for the detailed explanation. 👍🏻
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Dope👍🏾
Thanks for watching :-)
Yeeeeeeeessss
Thanks for watching!
Anyone wanna try on a Typhoon 3s?😁
Based on the way the chassis looks I don't think the process would be any different. All the vehicles other than the Mojave appear to be identical in that area.

THE CASE DOES NOT COME WITH THE RED ALUMINUM PLATE. Ask me how I know. 🤬
That sucks. I'd heard someone else say it did but that's why I said I wasn't sure.
@@DoRC my shop ordered a few of the cases and diffs. We didn’t order plates because the picture of the part number CLEARLY showed a motor plate. Once they arrived, no motor plate.

Typhon lollll
Typhon?
That's 2 videos in a row you copied, Earl Morehead and Jay Tee. Come up with your own videos, c'mon man
Okay so first of all Earl Moorhead did not provide a solution to the problem he just complained. My video provides a solution and then tests the solution so I don't really think that's a copy.
Second check the time stamps on the differential videos from JayTee and me. Mine came out first :-)
There's only so much going on in the RC world at any given time, there's going to be some overlap. Everyone and their mother with a 4S or 3S Arrma wanted to know if these will fit.
