pro tip - want your shocks to not leak ? take them apart and replace all the o-rings with viton o-rings . when your done refill them with fox suspenion oil
I'm a fan of those proline shocks, at least in your demo. They just seem to perform the best, and on a heavier rig like my Vorteks, I think they'd work perfectly with how I thrash that poor thing off jumps. Great info and thank you for buying up all those shocks for this test. I was in the dark on what I should be looking for in shocks and this cleared it up for me.
Great video. I've used the zd racing shocks with outcast springs on them. I also added spacers inside to limit the travel and lower the ride height. They were ok but replacing them often means waiting a while for them because I was buying from China. The shafts still bend and they still leak. I went ahead and bought some v3 stock shocks from Jenny's rcs which I believe fixed the leaking issues. But the parts are easy to get and they are easy to work on. So I just keep some spare rod ends in case one bends. I've noticed that if one bends, it's better to replace it rather than trying to straighten it as it will often cause it to leak.
Agree 100% I made this video, as I was curious what the other options were really like. I am completely fine running stock shocks, and just replacing them occassionally.
This is a lot of very useful information, thank you. My 12 year old has broken 2 shocks in 2 weeks on is granite I’m definetly looking for an upgrade. This was very handy in my descision making
@@RoadsideRC I actually ended up going with Powerhobby metal shocks for my granite with 60w oil. Time will tell how they hold up but they look extremely quality. I’m sure my 12 year old will put them to the test on our ramp. Thanks for the quick response and great content. Cheers 🤘
OGRC silver and black on Amazon , $28 . Feels good to me after changing the oil , came half filled . Good luck . They work for me and u can use the arrma springs but the ones it came with feel fine . My Arrma shocks didn’t have much dampening , more like springs only 😂
I ended up using the Hobao Hyper SS EV shocks on my BigRock and Senton BLX's, you have to put a spacer inside to shorten them up a bit. They are strong and have taken some big leaps. Best of all, their parts can be ordered from their US site. I snagged mine from Jenny's.
I woulda loved to see this comparison on a big rock or granite so we could actually see the suspension travel, really hard to tell on buggies.but I really like videos like this as so many people out there are presented with so many "chinesium" options now and many are good options(like tires) but it's very hard to know which are the good products.
I put the typhon 6s shocks in my typhon 3s and they have been great. Just dropped them in - no oil changes nothing. 30 runs later they still work great!
Just from the drop test alone it seems that most of them need a thicker oil to solve one of the biggest problems . ( belly slap ) If that RC is hitting the ground from that height then you can only imagine how hard it is hitting from a 5 to 7 foot bash . There is a fine line to find the right weight of oil because if you do a lot of bashing that is where much of your RC damage will come from if it is hitting the ground that hard over time with the wrong oil . IMO there is no perfect solution because these things are going to break and are designed to do just that no matter what anyone says , unless of course you buy it just to sit on a shelf . LOL! Great video by the way and look forward to many more !!
Thanks for sharing the different shocks. The shocks that come on the 3s Typhon of Granite always seem to come apart. They work well but the shaft seems to pull loose from the bottom shock end. I just swapped mine with some cheap E-Bay specials that are actually for the 1/10 Traxxas Slash, Rustler or Stampede 4x4. Only $17 for all 4. Even those preform and hold up better than the stock ones. I really cant afford good shocks but if I could I would definitely go with ProLine.
I just picked up the Arrma Typhon BLX over this past weekend, as an early birthday present for myself. I have not gotten to play with it yet (work and weather), but your video here as give me some food for thought, for down the road.
My buddy has had a Slash 4x4 and a Big Rock for quite a while before i got my Senton. I have seen him bend a couple ebay shock shafts, and break one shock cap. Even though they are metal, the metal quality is not very good. We both ended up getting Prolines after the shop we go to said 50 a pair if you both buy set, and they have been indestructible. You will break every single thing around the shock, before you hurt the shock itself. I 100% recommend them for an upgrade. If you don't want to upgrade, the factory shocks are what i would recommend. I also recommend 50wt for the Prolines. It seems to be much better at handling jumps without being too stiff.
I had installed the Typhon 6s shocks on my Granite with the Axial rubber bushings on top. It worked VERY well. Now I installed the Typhon TLR 6s shocks on my Big Rock and they're even BETTER. Very plush compared to the regular Typhone 6s units. I highly recommend them.
Good point - those might be really good. I wonder of the stock Typhon springs would fit. The stock 4S springs would be too stiff based on the vehicle weight.
@@RoadsideRC I'm 99% sure stock Typhon Springs would not fit. Rich Duperbash has like the best setup ever but apparently you can't buy the shocks he uses anymore. Another alternative is tekno shocks but they're super expensive like Pro-Line shocks. I was using DHK Maximus shocks but the lengths were off so I had to really stiffen the rear and keep the front super loose to get the chassis level. It was a total Frankenstein set up and made no sense at all but somehow running it on road with the 6s Typhon wheels made it insane!!! 😂 I could run it at like 65mph and go crazy fast around turns and it wouldn't flip with the super stiff rear and perfect grip of the Typhon wheels with no tread. I bought the Proline shocks but haven't put them on yet.
Thank you I'm new to Arrma Vortexs & RCing in general and you were able to answer all the questions I had about shock upgrades and the ebay specials looked/preformed the best and were only 30bucks
Watching again, I think the zd racing is probably the best compromise cost per performance just by visuals but thinking a lil figure eight on the road to see how the buggy handles would help make a better decision, the grass hides everything, and the dirt track unfortunately was a lil far to visually see the buggy, but I really like how you included those lap times! Still nice to get an idea.
Yes the Prolines are expensive, but coming from the car world where a set of mid level coilovers runs you over $1K, spending $150 for a set of high end shocks isn’t a big deal. That said, the reasons I will stick with Proline over the cheap big bore shocks are: shaft guards, Ti-nitride coated shafts, and ability to customize spring rates. The big bore shock shafts are soft and you will soon find they will no longer be smooth after a bit of use. My current Typhon Proline setup is: 4S rod ends to increase droop travel, Red/Green spring combo, F-50wt, R-40wt oil. I love it but I also don’t send it more than 5ft of air.
I also retrofitted the big bore shock shafts to some HR shock bodies to run on my Vorteks, fitted with Vorteks springs. That was a good setup worked well, but I just recently switched to a TLR shock set on the Vorteks since the Pro-lines won’t fit on it.
well I bent a proline shock on its very first outing. was pissed to find out proline doesnt sell replacement shafts. epic waste of money to me. the are beautifully made, look awesome and performed well. but an hour later were garbage. can't afford that action.
Very welcome video! I too bent a few factory shocks, and wasn't quite sure where to go, I saw many people recommend the typhon 6s shocks though but I kind of left it for another day and now my car sits dumb and unused at my parent's house. And its not as if I bash my typhon 3s like crazy, but rather try to drive it around fast and controlled, at most a mini jump here and there... This might get me into pulling it out again because it still a a fun fast car to drive, just I'm not convinced about the whole durability thing... I also need to upgrade the motor mount which bends, not just me but seems like everyone else too... Thanks for the comparison! May the shock be with you
May the shock be with you also! :) Throw a new shock on it and have fun! Honestly - the Typhon 3S is one of my favorite RCs - hands down! Even with all of the driving we have done with it - never bent our motor mount...
Trick i saw in a video was just to use some m4 screws on the inside of the 3s chassis to keep the motor from moving forward/sideways when bashing. Couldve even been this channel for all i know
Nice review - Thanks. I tested the Ebay shocks on a few cars (Granite, Vorteks and Typhon) They worked ok on everything but the Typhon. Cheap steel on the shafts, they wont last long imo. Ive gone back to stock on the Typhon.
For my Senton 3s I used Arrma Typhon shocks with Tekno 57mm low frequency pink up front and Tekno 75mm regular frequency pink at back. I went with the Arrma 6s shocks because it's easier and cheaper to find spares for.
On my Typhon I run the stock shocks. Just add 4 o-rings to the the bottom of them istead of the original 2, it stops them form leaking. I run 10k diff fluid in my shocks, it absorbes the high jumps very well. The Typhon also bodyslaps alot, I think that helps save the shocks. I used to bend and break far more shocks on my senton and granite, but not on the Typhon.
What you missed. Different weight oil gives different results. The ProLine have spring paks for great adjustability. I find a green bottom and yellow top gives great results. 30# oil seems to give me the best results. 40 and 45 did not preform as well. The Prolines adjustability makes them a great product.
I am like you . I like the cheap originals on my Big Rock , I have not bent a shaft yet but just now after 3 years both my rear shocks developed a leak but I think it was around $20 bucks for a kit to rebuild both ! And I do not baby this thing !
I race with the stock Arrma shocks because I personally know how to tune shocks...any one of the shocks you tried are basically the same thing. Fluid filled with a restricted discs...
Keep coming back to old videos. Appreciate the time it took to do all this thank you! I love the stock shocks myself. Is this the same track you did took the tlr typhon on its maiden race? If so does that mean you were hitting faster lap times than the 6s line?? That would be amazing.
Same track, but changes to the layout had been made. This buggy does turn lap times similar to a 4WD SCT and was MUCH faster than the Traxxas Sledge around the track.
ebay shocks last 3 runs for me just bashing around . zd shocks have held up nice , i like the stock just constantly pulling out shock shafts from eyelets
I ended up buying the Hot Racing aluminum shock bodies for my stock shocks and they work exceptionally well IMO. But of course since they use the stock shaft they can bend (havent had it happen yet after 5-6ish months). I plan to get some Typhon TLR shocks for my senton and see how well they perform.
I bought the Hot Racing shock bodies in 2019 but they ended up being 4s bodies. I’m sure they’ll fit but have never got around to adding the shafts and springs. I may just use them at some point for another rig since I got the Pro Lines.
Great Vid dude, very informative. I am looking at street rocking my big rock. Maybe shorten and thicker oil. What do you think about something like for speed runs? Nothing too crazy like 70s. Actually considering Vendetta shocks as an option.
I have the 6S shocks on a Senton 3S and they don’t work good out of the box. You need lower them to match the length of the 3S shocks. Then you need to get some team associated yellow springs from the RC8B3, which match the 3S spring rates. Then if you want to “race” run 30 or 35 WT oil will make them nice and compliant. Or for bashing you can leave the 6S oil or run heavier 50+ WT…all and all the 6S shocks are bomb proof on a 3S as my 4 year old son drives the truck…LoL
Which shocks you are using? Typhon 6S shocks matches pretty much stock 3S shocks in length. Also rear spring rate seems to be the same as stock, and front spring rate is just a bit stiffer. You can easily get about the same ride height as with stock shocks. And your tip about yellow springs seems to be incorrect. Spring rate for Typhon 6S 70mm front springs are 67.9gf/mm (3.80 lb/in) and the yellow Team Associated 70mm spring rate is 5.7 lb/in - so Associated springs are a lot stiffer than 3S stock springs. There seems to be so much misinformation about Typhon 6S shocks as people buy the cheapest 6S shocks they can get (Kraton, Mojave, Outcast?) and not the right ones for 3S cars (Typhon 6s shocks).
YES! The turnbuckles get a fair amount of play in them and also the hub screws back out. I tightened up mine recently by replacing a lot of the turnbuckle rod ends and tightening a lot of screws.
I installed the Hot Racing 22 piece aluminum ball set in my Big Rock and it really took the slop out. Great mod for around $15, and the only one I can justify so far. I’m having good luck with my first Arrma 👍🏻
@@jasondionne1214 i already tried those and they work for a while but the aluminum seems low quality and gets eaten away by friction until the slop comes back... just wish it was better quality because it does work
I’ve watched a few reviews on those eBay shocks, they look good for the price. My only concern is the lack of a the air bladder, I’m gonna get a set and see if the Traxxas bladder fits it. I said to myself “he didn’t mention oil, bet there was an oops on here lol”
Thanks brou. Very well presented. I'm new to your channel.. sorta... But always good to see your opinion because your very thorough. I'm cerous what shock would you run on the TLR or 6S RTR.. I have the TLR. Is there a better up grade to it. Thanks again Have Fun
Theres a reason for the high price of the Pro-Line shocks: EXTREME Durability and engineering precision. Those shock shafts may only be 3.0mm thick, but they are tool steel, the same stuff M2C Racing uses to make upgraded hinge pins for Arrma vehicles. I bet you they are just as strong as, if not stronger than, the 8th scale Arrma Shock option, all while getting handling that is actually slightly better than stock. Ya, it really sucks that they are so damn expensive, Pro-Line is definitely ripping you off a bit at that price. However, simply put - theres no other solution like it on the market. Im pretty sure Pro-Line is aware of this and takes liberties with the pricing. I bet you they could easily sell them for $49.99 a pair and still make mad profit.
You are really not supposed to use shocks that are longer than the ones that come with the car. On the rebound it will push the axles way too far. And you'll be more prone to popping your CVDs great video
Hello, I own a Big Rock 3S and want some new shocks for it, for jumps and flips. I discovered your video and I'm curious about the eBay/Amazon ones. But which one are they exactly? When I'm looking for them, I get a lot of hits. Yeah this was my first thought about the Pro-Line shocks. 150 bucks for a 350 bucks rc car. Even though they are good ones, I think they are a bit overpriced.
i run the arrma 6s shocks in the back of my kraton 4s with zd racing shocks in the frunt i bent the zd racing shocks and they lost all the oil in them because of that and it scraped some peace that keeps the oil in
I have the Prolines but I find the plastic sleeve that joins the springs binds against the threaded shock body, I’ve ordered one piece springs but this doesn’t seem right to me.
What about the chinese shocks? Probably, is cheaper than ebay specials and could work the same or better... I've been looking at aliexpress and found the brand "new enron" for Traxxas models. Have u ever tried them? I'm thinking about buying it
Hi Troy, what shock oil thickness should i use on my typhon 3s for jumping and riding on grass and dirt piles? Forgot to mention, the shocks i'm installing are the RCAWD shocks for Arrma Typhon 3s.
There really is no "right" answer. It all depends on your exact setup and wants. I would start with the factory weight oil and then tune it from there. Good news - the oil is rather cheap, so even if you try a few before you are happy, it will not be a huge expense.
@@RoadsideRC Thank you, I'm starting out with 50 and it feels good, nice rebound, i did purchased 3 different WT oils today. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving.
@@manski209 Which brand oil are you using? (e.g. each brand seems to have different Wt so we need to compare the cst spec on them). The guys at my local shop gave me Losi 60 wt (810 cst) for the Big Rock and 50 wt (710 cst) for the typhon. These seem so thick compared to stock, and what everyone else is reporting with their super fancy aftermarket shocks. But, who knows, could be right. Like the author, I am looking for an all around setup that can bash and still handle for fun laps whenever we are near a track.
Ordered the ZD’s from Amazon and one of them came branded “hobby park”. 🙄. Probably makes absolutely no difference and currently have them burping…but still annoying that they don’t all match
Note!!! The Arrma 6S shocks in this video are not Typhon 6S shocks. All the other Arrma 6S shock models have more or less incorrect length and/or have too stiff shock spring for Arrma 3S 4x4 cars.
@@RoadsideRC The most evident give up is the front springs. If you compare Typhon 6S product photos to your shocks you can see that springs are different. Rear shocks are harder to tell but as you have ride height issue at the rear end, it suggests that shocks are not from Typhon 6S. I don”t have ride height issue in my Senton nor Big Rock with Typhon 6S shocks. Many Arrma 6S shocks have different shock body, shock shaft and shock spring lengths and comparing information that you can get by using part number is easily comparable to the measurements you can make to your shocks. I measured spring stiffness by hand and also using a 2 kg lead weight and can say stock Typhon 6S springs are approx the same stiffness as stock 3S shocks.
I'm still using stock shocks, I think the complaint is more about bad use or abuse, they think the shocks need to handle everything that not true, I think the problem is the user not the rc
Hi great vid i ordered the cheapo ones they have no bladders or bleeding holes cant find any info on how to fill correctly I'm baffled please help thanks Jim
Fill me an 1/8 from the top and push the rod so the shock is short , screw it together and if it pushes out the shaft take a little out . They can push out slightly but if they must compress fully . It’s however you want it .
Hi Raymond! Big question there. Many answers depending on the type of oil used. Honestly - proper RC shock oil is as cheap as $10-20 for a bottle. I would recommend just getting it.
I have a bunch of rock crawler shocks - and when you set them side-by-side with a basher shock, the difference is HUGE. The rock crawler shocks are much thinner diameter in both shock body and shock shaft. They are just not designed for this type of abuse.
Can I get some ideas of good sites that have a good variety of vortex’s 3s blx upgrade parts. I’m just starting out in the rc community and am just getting my feet wet. Thanks in advance.
The key word is Kraton, he is using kraton springs... those are the 4s line, although the 4s is the same chassis...the shocks and spring are different and thats why they fit but the arrma 3s wont.
@@RoadsideRC jennysrc says 4s shocks are front 111mm rear 132mm, stock are front 101mm rear 115mm and 6s typhon shocks are front 105mm rear 117 mm. Maybe too long but without ths spacers i wonder if it might somehow work.
So this is a test of generic shocks not specifically set up for any 1 particular car? Firstly you can get any of these shocks to handle well by changing the oil and pistons, you just need to know what the car is doing (on track). Secondly ride height should be set by the angle of the driveshafts for all shocks tested. Thirdly, if the shock body is too big you chassis won’t even it the ground, this could break the shock towers/gearbox case/wishbones
These are all common shocks that folks online suggest using as upgrades for these vehicles. This is a test to see which ones work best for this buggy - in the way most people will use it.
Dude! I like the video, but you gotta remove that whole part where you tested them with no oil. Mention it, that they came with no oil…. But man, you had me all invested on those results only to have you yank the carpet out from underneath. You know what I mean… you know what to do. Thanks again for the vids…
Big Bore shocks will work fine on a Vorteks if you use the Vorteks springs on them. The advantage is you gain droop travel by doing this which is great for handling and even big jumps.

Trick i saw in a video was just to use some m4 screws on the inside of the 3s chassis to keep the motor from moving forward/sideways when bashing. Couldve even been this channel for all i know
I had the ebay shocks now for over a year, i'm happy with it.
Great to hear!!!
This was a great video! Given that the stock shocks seem pretty competitive, it wold be great to see the same test done with varying shock oil weight.
You are right! The stock shocks are rather good.
Tweaking the springs and oil would be plenty.
One stop shop for all your rc info!!! Love it . Appreciate you !!!🤘
Thanks!
Nice review - Thanks. I tested the Ebay shocks on a few cars (Granite, Vorteks and Typhon) They worked ok on everything but the Typhon. Cheap steel on the shafts, they wont last long imo. Ive gone back to stock on the Typhon.
Thanks for the feedback.
A longevity test on the eBay shocks would be great !
For my Senton 3s I used Arrma Typhon shocks with Tekno 57mm low frequency pink up front and Tekno 75mm regular frequency pink at back. I went with the Arrma 6s shocks because it's easier and cheaper to find spares for.
That does sound like it would work well!
I have had the ebay specials on my senton for about 2 years and I absolutely love them, great value and quality.
Great! Glad to hear that!
MKes sense to me!
Thanks for sharing
What you missed. Different weight oil gives different results. The ProLine have spring paks for great adjustability. I find a green bottom and yellow top gives great results. 30# oil seems to give me the best results. 40 and 45 did not preform as well. The Prolines adjustability makes them a great product.
Good points!
What's the proline part number for the typhon
I am like you . I like the cheap originals on my Big Rock , I have not bent a shaft yet but just now after 3 years both my rear shocks developed a leak but I think it was around $20 bucks for a kit to rebuild both ! And I do not baby this thing !
Yes! If the stock shocks have lasted that long - easy decision to rebuild them!
Good to hear the factory shocks are sufficient
They have been for me!
Oh and for the proline done forget the shock oil and other springs for finding what works best for you.
Good point!
Thank you for listing all the links for the parts.. you were a great help.. awesome video THUMBS UP!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I guess I'm not good enough with this RUclips. Where do I find these links?
this is so in depth well done
Thank you!
I race with the stock Arrma shocks because I personally know how to tune shocks...any one of the shocks you tried are basically the same thing. Fluid filled with a restricted discs...
:) Good point!
Dude you have a great backyard for a rc track!
You are right!
Great detail on each shock. Good information! Thanks Troy
Glad it was helpful!
@@RoadsideRC thanks for the update!
ebay shocks last 3 runs for me just bashing around . zd shocks have held up nice , i like the stock just constantly pulling out shock shafts from eyelets
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome! Glad to hear the HR bodies are holding up well!
For speed runs, I think most of these could work with limiters.
Not sure how stiff you would want to go on oil, but a few level thicker for sure.
My big rock has 60 wt in front 70 in rear think its great for general bashing on or off road
Thank you for this video!! I keep bending or aftermarket shocks one will bind on the front smh .
Which ones have worked best for you?
Great video man! I like stock best also! Thanks👊
Right on!
I really love the Pro-Line very durable
They really are a nice shock!
Really suprised the amazon/Ebay special kept up with the high end stuff,
i was thinking about the prolines but no harm in trying the amazon special
I agree!
Thanks buddy👍been looking at zd
No problem 👍
I have the 6S shocks on a Senton 3S and they don’t work good out of the box. You need lower them to match the length of the 3S shocks. Then you need to get some team associated yellow springs from the RC8B3, which match the 3S spring rates. Then if you want to “race” run 30 or 35 WT oil will make them nice and compliant. Or for bashing you can leave the 6S oil or run heavier 50+ WT…all and all the 6S shocks are bomb proof on a 3S as my 4 year old son drives the truck…LoL
That all makes sense!
What do you mean "you need to lower them to match the length"?
There seems to be so much misinformation about Typhon 6S shocks as people buy the cheapest 6S shocks they can get (Kraton, Mojave, Outcast?) and not the right ones for 3S cars (Typhon 6s shocks).
do you put oil in them
what oil did you use in the amazon ones?
My go-to is Team Associated shock oil: alnk.to/fHlzmvl
Pick the thickness that suits your needs. I went with something around 30wt as a starting spot
what oil did you put in the ebay cheap shocks????
@@tinyrcguy Same
Great video ,does anyone else have front wheel wobble with the 3s line up, tried new bearings and servo's .
YES!
The turnbuckles get a fair amount of play in them and also the hub screws back out.
I tightened up mine recently by replacing a lot of the turnbuckle rod ends and tightening a lot of screws.
RC MADLABZ SHIM KIT... YOU ARE WELCOME
Yep . Other dood beat me to saying rc madlabs . Who also sell a zdracing kit that makes the shim kit a must!
Glad you caught the oops before I did!
The Prolines dont have an air bladder either
interesting tests of those shocks mate
*full watch👀Au👍big like*
Thank you 👍
Thanks brou. Very well presented. I'm new to your channel.. sorta... But always good to see your opinion because your very thorough. I'm cerous what shock would you run on the TLR or 6S RTR..
I have the TLR. Is there a better up grade to it.
Thanks again
Have Fun
Honestly - the shocks that come on the TLR are about as good as it gets! I would stick with those!
Thanks for the input.
Look at the mojave shocks as the spring rates are softer and run 550cst oil instead of most of the 6s range run 1000cst
Thanks for the tip! It does need softer springs for sure.
You are really not supposed to use shocks that are longer than the ones that come with the car. On the rebound it will push the axles way too far. And you'll be more prone to popping your CVDs great video
Great point! One thing is to limit the downtravel with rubber inside.
Another great video - thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great review as always too
Thanks again!
more great info from Roadside RC! 🔥👍
Thanks! 👍
Damping is more about piston vs Oil wt. than it is about the shock itself.
Thanks for the tip!
Hello,
I own a Big Rock 3S and want some new shocks for it, for jumps and flips.
Hi there!
There are direct links to all of the products in the video description. That way, no confusion.
i run the arrma 6s shocks in the back of my kraton 4s with zd racing shocks in the frunt i bent the zd racing shocks and they lost all the oil in them because of that and it scraped some peace that keeps the oil in
Ah boo! Sorry to hear they bent.
I have the Prolines but I find the plastic sleeve that joins the springs binds against the threaded shock body, I’ve ordered one piece springs but this doesn’t seem right to me.
Oh man! I agree, that isn't good.
What about the chinese shocks? Probably, is cheaper than ebay specials and could work the same or better... I've been looking at aliexpress and found the brand "new enron" for Traxxas models. Have u ever tried them? I'm thinking about buying it
Sorry - I have not tried those.
Usually it's the oil issue in most shocks
Out of all the shocks you tested other than the CD ones get beef stock but not that expensive you can always keep a set on hand
Good point!
@@EliasFaraclas Im using 40WT on my new shocks and seems to be working good. I have a chart of all the oil from the arrma forum.
Ordered the ZD’s from Amazon and one of them came branded “hobby park”. 🙄. Probably makes absolutely no difference and currently have them burping…but still annoying that they don’t all match
That is odd!
Right? Pistons seem to be identical though, so I’ll be giving them a shot on my granite with typhon arms.
Hey, really interesting video to watch. Thx
Glad you think so!
Note!!! The Arrma 6S shocks in this video are not Typhon 6S shocks.
All the other Arrma 6S shock models have more or less incorrect length and/or have too stiff shock spring for Arrma 3S 4x4 cars.
I was told they were went purchased.
How can you tell?
Still rocking the ebay shocks? I just bought a set for my new T3SV3 just waiting on some 60wt shock oil.
My son voted to run the stock shocks again until they break, so we are back to those for now.
The pro line are worth it. Bullet proof
They do seem good.
So have to tested the ebay shocks with the stock springs yet? I just bought a set but havnt gotten around to try myself becaus of work
I have not tried any more combinations.
I'm still using stock shocks, I think the complaint is more about bad use or abuse, they think the shocks need to handle everything that not true, I think the problem is the user not the rc
I agree! Folks give the stock shocks a bad name, but really, they are really good - especially for the price.
Have the ProLine on my senton... I run 50wt shock oil and it doesn't bounce like yours.
Interesting - thanks!
@@RoadsideRC added that comment before you had said about not adding oil. Sorry!
I use big bore rcawd dive shocks on big rock and the eyelits holes have some slop with stalk screws?? do the ebay ones have slop?
I didn't notice any slop.
Yikes! Might be able to get shocks for the Chevelle for less than some of those.😄
Ha! Maybe!
Hi great vid i ordered the cheapo ones they have no bladders or bleeding holes cant find any info on how to fill correctly I'm baffled please help thanks Jim
Without bladders or bleeding holes....I just fill them up as well as I can and know that there will be air in there and they won't be perfect.
Fill me an 1/8 from the top and push the rod so the shock is short , screw it together and if it pushes out the shaft take a little out . They can push out slightly but if they must compress fully . It’s however you want it .
What can happened if u use any other type of automotive oil in the shocks?
Hi Raymond!
Big question there. Many answers depending on the type of oil used.
Honestly - proper RC shock oil is as cheap as $10-20 for a bottle. I would recommend just getting it.
Have you used rock crawler shocks for bashing for travel and hieght
I have a bunch of rock crawler shocks - and when you set them side-by-side with a basher shock, the difference is HUGE. The rock crawler shocks are much thinner diameter in both shock body and shock shaft. They are just not designed for this type of abuse.
@@RoadsideRC im trying to find some shocks for my senton for hieght and travel

I use the Arrma 6s shocks with stock 3s springs.
When I tried, they didn't slide over the shock body. What did I do wrong?
@@RoadsideRC I don't know. Unless the Typhon 6s shock body is a larger diameter than the Kraton ones.
The key word is Kraton, he is using kraton springs... those are the 4s line, although the 4s is the same chassis...the shocks and spring are different and thats why they fit but the arrma 3s wont.

@brennonwatson7319 It shows 4 - I am surprised. Might be good to double-check with the seller.

They are really good.
@@RoadsideRC Will they fit typhon3s? Are they better or 6s stock? They are about half the price.
@@WaseemGrace Both are too heavy sprung for a 3S car racing. You need to match springs to the weight of the vehicle.

Can the proline 1/10 shocks fit on the 1/8 arrma typhon?
Yes - that is what these are.
I wonder if the new v2 4s shocks will fit my 3s sentyphon?
Good question - need to see the length - I bet they are very long.
@@RoadsideRC jennysrc says 4s shocks are front 111mm rear 132mm, stock are front 101mm rear 115mm and 6s typhon shocks are front 105mm rear 117 mm. Maybe too long but without ths spacers i wonder if it might somehow work.

@@RoadsideRC will these fit my Boost ?
What shocks would be best for the Vorteks 3s?
If I remember correctly, it would use the same shock as these.
Depends on how much high jumping you want to do vs handling.
The kraton 4s v2 shocks would probably have been a better choice.
Why do you say that?
The springs aren't as stiff and the rears are just a little shorter. They're actually a decent shock overall.
What of the TLR tuned shocks?
Didn't have a chance to test them...and they are EXPENSIVE!
Lol on the no oil. First thing you would notice.
Yep! They all came assembled, some with oil, some without. Sure made a difference in how it drove! :)
Great thnx!
Glad it was helpful!
Did you see where I tested them again, right after it with oil in it?
Does anyone have issues with ebay big bore shocks leaking? Someone told me they leak.
Not so far.
Vorteks uses different shock lengths
Yes - it does. But, these companies claim these will fit on that vehicle also.
Vorteks 3S has different shocks from the rest of the Arrma 3S cars.
Yes - but these companies claim these shocks will fit that vehicle also.
Big Bore shocks will work fine on a Vorteks if you use the Vorteks springs on them. The advantage is you gain droop travel by doing this which is great for handling and even big jumps.
I have the big bore from ebay and that's interesting on the Vorteks springs what kind weight you used? I use 35w in front 40W on rear..
