Awesome rebuild Mr. Do. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with the community. You and AJ from AJJAM studio are the best in fixing, reviewing and rebuilding rc vehicles.
@ Me too. I own 9 arrmas and not one is stock, I also really enjoy building fpv drones and a few electric skateboards under my belt. Fpv drones is a little more challenging due to the electronics software involved but so much fun. Electric skateboards are belt driven with dual 6374 outrunner motors, a 10S4P battery and also the electronics software involved. I really enjoy your channel so, just keep bringing the content and we'll keep watching. You need to put some affiliates on your channel and make some money cause i know making content is not easy, it takes a punch just to make one video. you're videos are awesome, straight up and into the depth right away, that's why we watch.
A quick recommendation, when using loktite on a screw that goes into a closed hole (like on the centre diff), the loktite should go in the hole and not on the screw. If its on the screw, the air pressure would push the loktite up and off the threads, decreasing thread coverage.
Man I'm learning lots of stuff from your vids, throwing small bits of useful info about random stuff and that cardboard trick is great i kinda developed a phobia of disassembling my xmaxx just because of the mess of screws. Talking all nice and cool while that poor savox servo is chilling in a jar full of water and dirt putting it to the test, you're one dangerous dude 😁
Love the notorious. By far my fave looking truck Arrma has out. Followed closely by the Outcast and also the Infraction street truck. Just beautiful trucks.
I'm not sure. It was first introduced in the original EXB 6s roller. I'd have to imagine some other company has made a similar design in the past in the RC hobby but I'm not aware of it.
@ Also I said it before I think, but I really like the ratio of technical, parts analysis, & post-mortem to driving this channel has. so many other channels ignore technical substance. My favorite part about RC ends up being about the build itself, how the designers thought about architecting the parts, and looking at what parts fail and wear under specific loads.
@@DoRC there is this thing called Slipper One-way Clutch. some 1/10 racing pro 4wd buggies come with those. i have no idea how it works but some say it is way better than center diff.
After the intimidating task of replacing my 3s Outcast shock tower and lower arm for the first time, I am awe struck at this video. The cardboard trick is awesome. Still amazing that everything went back the right way lol.
Awesome!! Just got my 4S Outcast, I love it. Still need to adjust punch settings, diff fluid and just get used to it. I want to do jumps but I am a little nervous, gonna just start small and try to learn air control. Thanks for the great videos!…
That's the way to do it. A lot of people immediately go for the biggest air they can and that's a mistake. It's fun but it's going to end up with something getting broken. Fine just a little jump or put a piece of plywood on a concrete block and jump that over and over until you can land on your wheels every single time. Then start working your way up. Getting the fundamentals down will really help you when you start doing big air

Yeah I've had quite a few people recommend that. I actually took it out of my videos a while back because my retention showed people weren't really interested in it but maybe I'll try adding a little bit of it back in.
@DoRC yeah that would be great if you did mate 👌 I get that you've focused more on giving people good advise and ideas on builds etc which is ideal for the audience and newbies. But yeah that raw footage will gibe it that more entertainment feeling by your reactions etc. I know it can be a lot to add all that in to a video at the same time though.. This is proof that upgrading isn’t necessarily a “flashy vs functional” situation…..especially if you’re not going to use it as an extremely hardcore basher….man that thing looks as impressive from an aesthetic point of view as it does in real time…..expensive no doubt…. Is it worth it? Depends on your wallet and needs….. as a newbie to this hobby i cant thank you enough for these informative and in-depth videos thank you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year !
Yeah I think worth it is definitely a subjective term. Would I recommend anybody do this kind of thing for just general bashing? No. The car is great out of the box and with a few choice upgrades is even better. That being said these sorts of projects are kind of like building a show car. It's not necessarily practical to do it but it sure is a lot of fun and this thing is an absolute tank now.
Nice, I would still put some double sided tape or a thin padding under the esc. It will help with vibrations/impacts and especially with little rocks that will get wedged underneath it.
Everything from the V6 can go on the V5. The only things that would really require additional parts are the body and body mounts. You would also need to swap over the shock towers as the mounting holes are different and you would need the rear wing and rear wing mount too.
loving these early upgrade vids.. I'm definitely using this as a reference for doing the exp diff case upgrade, just want to point out a1 19:00 you can see that top shock nut is already missing
The new Ryobi 4V driver is awesome. It has swappable batteries and you can charge it UsB or get a 3 slot charger. It’s on sale now for $29 and so far it’s been perfect. Only thing I wish it had is a variable trigger. The trigger is just on or off but its top speed isn’t crazy so it’s been perfect for RC wrenching. That and some MIP bits and your set!
@@DoRC that was me too, honestly didn’t realize this wasn’t till I got it home. But the swappable batteries make it worth it for me. The top speed is just fast enough where it works. But I do wish it was variable. Just got done doing several of these upgrades to this truck myself. So far loving it! Got the treal bulk heads, M2C brace you showed, EXB front and rear braces, savox servo, same fans you used. And the aluminum center diff housing and support. Been a beast so far!
I will say, for drivers, I use a Hyper Tough 1/4 inch compact impact for my projects. They make a brushed model for $35 ish dollars but I got the brushless version for a little more. Along with a 4 amp hour 12v battery. However I don't recommend it for 1/10 and smaller cars. It's super easy to strip things out and I've also snapped stub axles off tightening wheels way too tight. However, for larger 1/8+ projects. And it's speedy too, way faster than an electric screwdriver. You just gotta be careful lol If impacts aren't your style, Hyper Tough does make electric screwdrivers as well. By the way, hyper tough is a Walmart brand. So they're pretty easy to get ahold of. LOL
Yeah that's one of the things I really like about these drivers. With the modification I showed in a previous video you can use them all the way down to Grom screws.
@@DoRC yeah the impact I use would absolutely destroy those poor grom screws. So I use hand tools for those. So while that impact is fast and efficient, it's limited use. 😅
Man great vid thanks for all the effort you put into these video’s and how much time you spend on them they are great and not many other channels out there do the kind of tear downs you do good job !
😇Hello... To be honest... I have watched so many remote control bloggers' videos, and you are the one who introduced the modification in detail and explained it better...😅Although I can also modify it a little, but I am not as good at it as you...🥰 I am also very grateful for your teaching on how to modify it... Welcome to visit Malaysia...
The bearing absolutely killed me😂😂😂 I did the exact same thing on other cars😂 I am currently looking for a stunt truck but to be honest, I dont have the balls to launch a 1/8 scale into the air😂 I drive my Kraton throttled to 80% throttle and I am still near a cardiac arrest when this thing is two feet off the ground😂 Really love your videos!
I have done an upgrade video on the forest outcast so it wasn't quite as extreme as this. Honestly there aren't really that many upgrade parts available for the 3/4s line. Since everything's kind of integrated and plastic it's a lot harder for manufacturers to make upgrades like they can on these platforms
I use the Skil Twist drill. I paid $40 at tractor supply but Amazon has it for $20. USB C recharable adjustable angle drill. Also has torque settings. Best purchase I've made in a very long time.
Very nice well done. A lot of nice detail and information on upgrades and how to’s. The run / bash session was very good. I just got a Milwaukee M12 model # 2401-22 variable hex screwdriver. That was a pile of left over parts nice add in there to see what all was changed for that 1lb. Difference. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year! 🏁🏁⭐️🏁🏁
Yeah I think a lot of people overestimate how much extra weight upgrades add. Obviously if you're replacing a ton of plastic with a ton of aluminum it's going to add up but It's always important to remember that the weight you're adding is the weight of the new thing minus the weight of the old thing and often that's not really a big difference
Well to pre-punch the holes you do but you don't actually need to do that You can just punch the holes as you go. They don't really need to be in the exact right spot as long as they're within the ballpark you can figure out which ones go where. That being said if you're removing the old chassis you're probably doing it to put a new chassis on anyway at least most of the time
I’d highly recommend you check out hobbystar servos. They have a variety of budget options, but imo the best are the 4724 and 4717. If I’m not mistaken the board is the floating type and the lower gasket is a pain to reinstall so if you’re going to water test it, do that before disassembly. They’re very torquey and fast on 8.4v, and I also found them to be cool running, at least in the erevo which also has the best thermal design for servos.
This is my go to basher, the only thing I've done before its first run was program my settings and swap the wheels to the JConcepts Magmas and i shorten the suspension travel to keep the dog bones in. It might not have been necessary but I did it just for piece of mind. I've put about a dozen packs through it with zero breakages, but it does run hot with the Magma wheels and cuts off every now and then.
Definitely consider getting a couple of the rocket fans. They're pretty inexpensive and they move a ton more air than the stock fans do. Definitely helps with cooling
I've been using Walmart brand Hyper Tough cordless drill with no problems for 5years . I have 2 6s Notoriouses one blue ,one black . I want to convert to one of them to 8s . Great video 💯
Another Great Video! I have been using the Bosch PS21 for quite a while now for my driver in my house and RC. But i recently purchased the new bosch GO 3. it's the new usb-c version. bought it for $60 on Ali-ex since it is not available in the States yet for some reason. I love it for RC's though. Has button and pressure switch, and plenty of power.
@@DoRC yeah, they are quality and not overly expensive. I also have the new Amazon basics by Skil 4V driver. Quality is ok, good power and usb-C for $25
I use the Dewalt 8v inverted gyroscopic driver.. The same ones you see in Razz Shiffrins videos..about $80 i absolutely love it. The more you rotate the driver in either direction the more the RPM's increase..with max RPM's @400.
Regarding electric drivers: I love the DeWalt gyro drivers. They are expensive but I think it is worth it. I tried 3 different cheap drivers from Amazon and struggled to get one with good clutch settings. The RUclips channel Project Farm has done reviews of electric drivers that might be a good source to find a new one to try.
Arrma has been doing a great job this year, can’t wait until 2025. The notorious does look really fun, is it true it feels like a Kraton and an Outcast baby?
The outcast and notorious are basically the same vehicle just with different bodies. It's kind of similar to Kraton but the much shorter wheelbase means it's a lot harder to keep the front tires on the ground. This can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. It's harder to control but it's also more playful
7:14 it actually is more functional. I have striped the threads on the stock plastic part , now the screws always back out and my esc won‘t hold on properly. I bet this won‘t hapen with those metall threads and if they back out than you can use loctite. Nice video as always!
Merry Christmas man! My tlr/6s/kraton or frankaphon I'm building from chassis is coming just a few more things I need to get an change to get it all done an names not official yet!😅
You have a ton of comments so hopefully this wont get lost, but it's very important to clean each new screw and even old screws with rubbing alcohol or brake cleaner before applying loctite and screwing into metal or they will back out quickly :) Maybe you've covered this before but you didn't mention it in this video
I have mentioned it and Yes it is definitely best to do that. I tend to not do it unless it's on a grub screw or something that I know has a tendency to back out. This of course is too by detriment because I do have screws back out sometimes :-)
If your just doing a chassis swap.. Tuck a towel under the rig supporting everything.. Then take all the screws out.. And then it's a reverse process to install the new chassis 👌 work's pretty well
It's the SW1212SG. Certainly not that cheapest servo in the world but from the experience I have with it so far and past experience with savox service it's pretty good
4:18 i use the Worx 4V Mini Electric Screwdriver, got it from aliexpress, i bought some MIP hex driver bits for it and its been a really good tool for a long time now
I own a Yipin "70kg" servo and it's fine, but for a similar price I also got an AGFRC 62 kg 12-16.8 volt direct power servo, which kicks ass. The Yipin did include an extra gear, it looks like the first gear that comes out of the motor, the one which has the least stress on it. I used the Yipin for a couple months, and it's hard to compare its power to the AGF, because I didn't tighten my servo saver (which was really loose) until after installing the AGF. But the AGF is definitely faster at 12v than the Yipin was at 7.4.
@Boogie_the_cat ya ive tried a bunch of them now. The ak47 and. the ak70 is in my xmaxx for over a year and its been flawless. The ak series come with 3 gears in the box.. ive used the 35kg ones in my 10th scale cars ive only roke one and it was from a really hard hit
I use and love the Bosch IXO VI. It has analog trigger, meaning the more you push it, the more RPMs it gives. Unfortunately there is already newer version, that does not have this feature. Only the v6 has it...
Yea that shock nut was missing you can see it when you checked the weight, also the screw in the esc wire holder is missing also, good job though looks pretty good.
@@DoRC thank you and it’s nice I use both heads adjustable and the 1/4inch impact head but have recently just swapped to the impact head to make it faster since they have the impact fitted bits and believe the slip or clutch goes from 1-16 and actually works
I've tried a bunch different drivers DeWalt Makita there all great but tork settings are a must most drivers are to powerful for rc I've found that Bauer 4volt driver from harbor freight is perfect cheap doesn't have tork settings but I have never stripped anything with it cause the low tork just enough to tighten but not strip the plastic threads great breakdown of car great imfo from your channel

@DoRC 👍thank you dude...😇may God bless you...
The bearing absolutely killed me😂😂😂
I did the exact same thing on other cars😂
I am currently looking for a stunt truck but to be honest, I dont have the balls to launch a 1/8 scale into the air😂
I drive my Kraton throttled to 80% throttle and I am still near a cardiac arrest when this thing is two feet off the ground😂
Really love your videos!
The V2.5 4S outcast is another great choice. It's quite a bit smaller and lighter so it's a lot less intimidating
Top quality channel, have really enjoyed watching/learning since I got into the hobby a few months ago 👍🏽
Welcome to the hobby and I'm glad you're enjoying!
Nice video ! You made a video of this notorious finally ! Thx again for all your advices !
Yep. It's one of my favorite trucks!
18:44 yup it was never installed. And proves how rigid and tight it performs. Great vid! 🍻
Yeah I saw that when I was editing :-) I figured that was the problem since I've literally never had one of those come off before.
Yeah! The new Noto !
Me so excited. Haven't seen it yet.
Hope you had a happy holiday.
It's pretty awesome! Yeah my Christmas was good. How was yours?
@@DoRCMy step dad got me a set of 3 MIP bits, so that's great 👍
Thanks for asking.
I really enjoy this ❤
But can you do it for the 4s Outcast also?❤
I have done an upgrade video on the forest outcast so it wasn't quite as extreme as this. Honestly there aren't really that many upgrade parts available for the 3/4s line. Since everything's kind of integrated and plastic it's a lot harder for manufacturers to make upgrades like they can on these platforms
This a an awesome video dude excellent walk through on the upgrades 🔥🤙🏻sell me the chassis can you sign it too 😅
I probably won't be selling these parts as I find I usually end up needing 6s Arrma stuff all the time.
@DoRC very true 😁😁😁
The new notorious is sick, I can't believe how all these option parts only made it 1 pound heavier. So Sick!
Yeah I think upgrades add less weight than most people believe they do.
I use the Skil Twist drill. I paid $40 at tractor supply but Amazon has it for $20. USB C recharable adjustable angle drill. Also has torque settings. Best purchase I've made in a very long time.
I'll check it out!
@ Hi buddy. Yep, well said. You going to check out the Milwaukee M12? Appreciate your time and thoughts.
That cardboard trick is really good
Yes but you need a spare chassi!
Well to pre-punch the holes you do but you don't actually need to do that You can just punch the holes as you go. They don't really need to be in the exact right spot as long as they're within the ballpark you can figure out which ones go where. That being said if you're removing the old chassis you're probably doing it to put a new chassis on anyway at least most of the time
@@BASSstarlet eh - you can draw out a template from the bottom of your truck ..
@@jaceSHO That's clever!
@BASSstarlet indeed. And if you push a thick piece of carbord against it that will leave you with a great impression you can cut out
I’d highly recommend you check out hobbystar servos.
Do they make gear rebuild kits?
I'll take a look
Another great video man! Very much appreciated!
Glad you enjoy it :-)
Love that Arrma went clipless
It definitely has its advantages
Man, I wish I’d have done that cardboard trick with the screws while I was transplanting my grom in its new chassis
It's definitely helpful especially if you're going to have it apart for a while
@ Now I know! And knowing is half the battle!
DeWalt 8v gyroscopic screwdriver. Thanks for all of your awesome content!
Thanks for watching!
It would be super cool if you worked with an RC company to provide insight from an engineering standpoint to create a super durable basher.
They've got my number :-)
Super awesome video!!! Love that you know the card board !! That’s a good super old school trick !!
Yeah I've used it as a mechanic in the past I just didn't think about it for chassis swaps. It definitely works Well
@ Yup same as me !! It a great idea !! 💡
Great, fun video! Always enjoy your videos. I find them educational, inspiring and gives me ideas…🤔
Awesome glad you enjoyed :-)
This is my go to basher, the only thing I've done before its first run was program my settings and swap the wheels to the JConcepts Magmas and i shorten the suspension travel to keep the dog bones in. It might not have been necessary but I did it just for piece of mind. I've put about a dozen packs through it with zero breakages, but it does run hot with the Magma wheels and cuts off every now and then.
Definitely consider getting a couple of the rocket fans. They're pretty inexpensive and they move a ton more air than the stock fans do. Definitely helps with cooling
@DoRC 🤙right on
Much, Much respect 2 u brother very informative videos ,interesting and educational thanks sharing 👍
Thanks Glad you enjoy!
I've been using Walmart brand Hyper Tough cordless drill with no problems for 5years . I have 2 6s Notoriouses one blue ,one black . I want to convert to one of them to 8s . Great video 💯
I've never done 8S on a notorious but I did have one with a Max 6 system in it and it was pretty crazy.
@DoRC I wanna go Hobbywing or take the electronics / motor from the 8s outcast
Another Great Video! I have been using the Bosch PS21 for quite a while now for my driver in my house and RC. But i recently purchased the new bosch GO 3. it's the new usb-c version. bought it for $60 on Ali-ex since it is not available in the States yet for some reason. I love it for RC's though. Has button and pressure switch, and plenty of power.
Awesome I'll check it out!
@@DoRC yeah, they are quality and not overly expensive. I also have the new Amazon basics by Skil 4V driver. Quality is ok, good power and usb-C for $25
Great vid!! I would go with a milwaukee M12 brushless 1/4 impact
Yeah the impacts can be a little violent though
@@DoRC Yes but, there is 3 torque settings on the impact. When using it I usually keep it on 1st setting.
The cardboard layout for screws is good idea!
Definitely!
Translation :DD
Initial weight 6.7kg
Final weight 7.1kg
Mad upgrades, sir =)
Blasphemy! Freedom units or nothing :-)
@@DoRC I don't even.... how do you make sense of this stuff :D
Traxxas warranty department is a joke. Anyways ur the man love ur videos
Interesting. Most people are very satisfied with Traxxas warranty.
Another good video from Do RC! 👌🙏
Thanks :-)
I use the Dewalt 8v inverted gyroscopic driver.. The same ones you see in Razz Shiffrins videos..about $80 i absolutely love it. The more you rotate the driver in either direction the more the RPM's increase..with max RPM's @400.
The gyro thing is kind of a personal preference. I don't really like them but I can definitely understand the appeal.
The Amazon Basics by Skil is a beast. I think the Torque Channel and Project Farm reviewed it and said it was awesome. I really like it too😅
I'll check it out
Yes! I love my rocket fans. First time I tested one before install it basically hovered out of my hand like a helicopter.
Yeah they move a ton of air and are pretty durable
Regarding electric drivers: I love the DeWalt gyro drivers. They are expensive but I think it is worth it. I tried 3 different cheap drivers from Amazon and struggled to get one with good clutch settings. The RUclips channel Project Farm has done reviews of electric drivers that might be a good source to find a new one to try.
Yeah the gyro thing is kind of a personal preference. I really don't like them but I can see the appeal
@ It deff looks wild, like a Kagama 6S. I think I may go with some time tamer like the New Kraton. My Kagama is a hand full.
Excellent video, great truck too…
Yeah it's pretty fun!
Great build!
Thanks :-)
Well done sir!
Thanks!
Great video!!! You're always on point with key information. Have a great new year!
Thanks you too!
7:14 it actually is more functional. I have striped the threads on the stock plastic part , now the screws always back out and my esc won‘t hold on properly. I bet this won‘t hapen with those metall threads and if they back out than you can use loctite. Nice video as always!
Well yeah if the stock part is broken and upgrade would definitely be more functional :-)
Merry Christmas man! My tlr/6s/kraton or frankaphon I'm building from chassis is coming just a few more things I need to get an change to get it all done an names not official yet!😅
Nice!
Merry Christmas
Thanks you too!
You should have got the new paint job one. But this one looks cool too
I thought about it but between the two I just preferred the black.
@ all good. You want something that you are proud of purchasing
How do you know K? 😂 Merry Christmas 🎄
Not sure what you mean? Thanks you too!
@ oh, you said how do you know longer screws can destroy an ESC 😂
@gillyboyNY ah. Brand new Max6 a few years ago. Killed it with a screw.
Merry Christmas!!!!111
Thanks same to you :-)
If your just doing a chassis swap.. Tuck a towel under the rig supporting everything.. Then take all the screws out.. And then it's a reverse process to install the new chassis 👌 work's pretty well
Good tip!
Its heavy, with M2C its heavy missile, dangerous one.
Yeah it's a little bit heavier with all the upgrades :-)
1 pound. That's not alot
Awesome video man thank you! What servo was that Savox?
It's the SW1212SG. Certainly not that cheapest servo in the world but from the experience I have with it so far and past experience with savox service it's pretty good
@ 🙏🙏
4:18 i use the Worx 4V Mini Electric Screwdriver, got it from aliexpress, i bought some MIP hex driver bits for it and its been a really good tool for a long time now
Awesome I'll check it out!
Dude can u review yipin servos? They come with spare gears and they have some crazy cheap prices for what they rate the speed and power
I will check them out!
Yeah for me having a variable speed trigger is mandatory
Yea that shock nut was missing you can see it when you checked the weight, also the screw in the esc wire holder is missing also, good job though looks pretty good.
Yeah I noticed that when I was editing. I was pretty sure that was the case since I've literally never lost one of those in the past.
Did you ever end up taking the horizon survey? I think alot of the changes in these v6 trucks are do to the feedback. It was a pretty in depth survey
I don't think I ever got invited to take it.
Merry Christmas and I use my d style Milwaukee 4 in 1 drill
I'll check it out. Merry Christmas to you too!
Yeah the problem I have with low torque drivers is that they sometimes don't have the jam to loosen thread locked screws.
