happy to have got an A6 Prestige last July. Was looking at the Q7 initially, said nah, then the A8 but it was too pricey for me. Said to the salesman while pointing "What is that" he said the A6, similar to the A8 but more nimble. ended up buying it and have been happy ever since
Another fantastic review Steve. Audi's latest line-up of cars has been nothing short of awesome. With BMW and Mercedes not really putting out anything"new" the forward thinking that Audi continually weaves into the interior and exterior designs takes them to another level.
I drive a 2011 audi a8 , i picked it up a few years ago.. this has alot i like even comparing it to my a8. Drove this a6 4 years ago and it was very impressive.
Steve I am in love with Audi. As a Lexus loyalist for the past 8 years, I'm willing to drop Lexus like a hot potato for Audi. But if I can't have the A8, I refuse to settle for the A6. However the beauty of this car has me thinking. The A6 is more practical for me, plus I'll save 20,000. As always, great review Steve!
steve, would you take this over the better looking XF? Hard to know if the jag drives better but that is what I've heard. The Top Gear guys will rave about it fore sure.
Why did I get rid of mine? Still not a fan of the light interior colors and not just Saudi but any vehicle. Dark grey, or Black for me. Possibly Taupe but not available in the A6.
Why the 3.0 T version has 310 HP and the 3.0 TDI version has 313 HP, a litle more than gasoline. I know that the diesel version has more torque but more power too? Nice :)
@stevehammes I think you get that impression because Audi always gives top of the line models for reviews, you have the S-line package, the large wheels, all the tech etc... Given that I think the new Lexus GS F-sport beats the A6 S-line at its own game, nicer interior, more tech, lighter and more nimble and it's RWD.
The first car I'd get if money was no object. I'd take this over the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-class; having Quattro as standard equipment would take this over the top.
@duffsbirdhouse88 The A7 has a hatchback design with offers more cargo space, and its design looks sleeker than the A6; don't get me wrong, the A6 is design is magnificent in its own right. Also, the A7's downside is that vehicle only seats 4, not 5 like the A6. Pricewise, it's about $8K more than the A6. Enginewise, it's still the Supercharged V-6 with its Quattro AWD like the A6.
I wish I could have found the Aviator Blue.....I realize that your getting a loaner for the review but not a big fan of lighter interiors. I. Realize that I am in Texas during the summer but still like the black interior. With that said,,,,about ten years ago I was skeptical of Leather in vehicles but about a dozen leather vehicles later I am starting to like it.
@mlps93 We had a A6 before and a good way to descibe em is that they are the best AND worst cars to own...I now drive a new Avalon and if "boring" means reliable, I'l take reliable. The Avalon finds a good balance of solidity/reliability with performance, Its the best car ive owned.
If you want to drive your car like an idiot, you will have to pay for it like an idiot! A friend of mine had A4 turbo 2006. It was only good for the first 2 years. So far he spent more than $8,000 just for fixing it. Everything breaks in those cars. First he had electric problems, then the engine mounts went bust, then the turbo failed, alternator issues... the sun roof stopped working... who knows what is next.

its good to see you throwing it around a little bit Steve...great review!

Nice I am deciding either 2012 A8 or either 2013 A6 hard to choose !
Great review as always! Keep up the great work!
Steve, you have an awesome radio quality voice!

I freaking LOVE Audi! I really want the A5 Coupe though, it's my dream car.
Hi steve,
Awesome review.
Good day.
Those LED lights are so cool. The car looks like a protoype!
I could point you to some other Audi reviews that use smaller words for easier comprehension.
Congrats mate, amazing car esp with that all wheel drive
Nice review Steve. One point - the Pirelli's are not run flat.
@FXSwissTrader Late spring 2012. No pricing yet.
@celsorod An excellent point.
I have an A5 which is the best car I have owned and I have owned Jags and BMWs. The A6 is my next car
Is the Lexus GS 350 coming in the future testing -- and will it be the conventional and F Sport model?
@triplexxxsatyr True, but Audi is expecting the 3.0T to be the core model in the U.S.
steve, would you take this over the better looking XF? Hard to know if the jag drives better but that is what I've heard. The Top Gear guys will rave about it fore sure.
@austinman1995 They changed that a few years back...turbo or supercharged it's all 'T' now. Probably so as not to confuse it with their S-models.

what is the diff between the a6 and a7 ?
@computergames5 Mercedes, BMW and Lexus better not ignore the gains Audi has made because Audi is pulling away.

the new E class just looks so much sexier though.
In the "testing the power" part of the video the car seemed to have some under-steer.
s6 avant plz!
the only thing that i dont like is the understeer due to its fwd roots.
@gheffty93 I'd take an A6 at this point in their product cycles.
I'd even consider the Turbo I-4; similar to the A4.
The first car I'd get if money was no object. I'd take this over the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-class; having Quattro as standard equipment would take this over the top.

very gut
lovely
But can they build a reliable one?

Mercedes needs to step it up, dont you think Steve?? (hopefully you rrespond)
BMW and Merc are betting on badge smug. Audi has them clearly beat in every other way.
@celsorod
they just rated this the LEAST reliable car LOL
Lexus maybe boring but it came as MOST reliable =|
Out of all the Audis in my family we've never had any reliability issues. Maybe it's just luck (:
@mlps93 We had a A6 before and a good way to descibe em is that they are the best AND worst cars to own...I now drive a new Avalon and if "boring" means reliable, I'l take reliable. The Avalon finds a good balance of solidity/reliability with performance, Its the best car ive owned.
Gs350 does to 60 in 5 sec
The DIESEL European V6 has more power and Torque than this. And is faster in real world driving and the same to 60. And has far better fuel economy.

" audi's signature touch that never seizes to get old" you made a mistake there lol
a cvt on an audi? ouch, also not a fan of the interior. i would not be able to tell if i was in an audi if i was sitting in it. looks a bit too bmw
come on 550i is 400 horsepower
Canadian News lol
Great review and nice car, but I still prefer the new Lexus GS F-sport to the A6: watch?v=layQTKoSlMM&lc
Its really sad that the most interesting thing about this car are its headlights. . . . .
looks like an overgrown a4.
