I agree. So many gorgeous older homes, mansions & cottages alike, are being destroyed by painting or tearing down irreplaceable woodwork. The newer generations seem to all want gray & white only. Really wish they wouldn't buy these homes & just build modern cookie cutter houses instead with one huge living area with white & gray bland interiors. My family and I bought a Victorian in Indiana, built 1863, for about the same price. They're beautiful but a lot of work. Anyone about to buy a beautiful old home, be prepared to find a lot of surprises but totally worth it. You're truly buying a little piece of American history. Owned 5 years now and still doing work. But they are amazing properties, if you have patience and time to bring it back to its glory. They don't make them like this anymore.
What a beautiful home. Born in Maine, I can recall visiting my grandma in Lincolnville with a home similar in beauty! Early in the morning a man would come by in a truck selling home made donuts & my grandma would go out to meet him; just to please her grandchildren!❤
Love rubarb! I’d keep the doorbell!💕loads of potential! Would make a separate living quarters and reuse the old kitchen 💕💕. I would also save some wallpapers they are so nice!
So beautiful. I love old victorian homes, they have so much character and charm. So unique. If I could comfortably afford it, and knew what I was doing, I’d love to buy one and restore it.
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love it - and it really looking at it, renovation costs won't be that high. True, you might spend about the same as it costs to purchase, but by the time all is said & done, it would truly be worth so much more ! Finding a job in the area for hubby isn't easy, sadly. I've looked. You have so many properties that are what we're looking for (I just feel pulled to Maine) but the job situation is a deal breaker =(
I live in Maine and would never want to be anywhere else but….. the job situation is tough… you either have to come to this state with money, or be willing to work for low wages.. and be satisfied with that..it’s quite safe and beautiful and the seasons are delightful….but Maine is not going to offer top dollar in the income Dept…still, it’s so worth it, to be here..🙂
It will need a lot of updating and some major renovation projects done too. But the natural beauty that is hidden could be easily brought back to its original grandeur! A pearl that is just waiting to be extracted!
Outstanding house!!!! WOW! High ceilings, great layout. This would be a really fun project. Maine is so beautiful. I'd love to have this glorious home 💖
When she says "This house has everything." I was wondering from the beginning if the house is possibly haunted..... Do the Kelley's still inhabit the house? It's a beautiful house and if I had that kind of money, I would love to live in a place like this.

This is when they built things to last. I watch the stuff they throw up nowadays and bemoan the greed and lack of foresight that has led to our throwaway culture. I grew up in an historical home in Massachusetts. Sadly it was sold and turned into the dreaded and ever present "open concept". I hope this beauty is bought by someone who values its history and returns it to its former glory. Wish I was still young enough to take it on myself. Fantastic tour!
What a beauty. Such character and is a steal. I like that they loved color back then and the hardwood floors. It was so functional too. I prefer house with separated rooms (kitchens). Love that house
Ha ha, probably a bit high on that cost. My first attack plan would be heating and insulation. It's got to get really cold up there in a few months. She said the heat pump does not even run. With Covid-19, everybody who does anything on homes is hard to hire. Took me 2.5 months to get painters to show up. Now I wait for tree workers who promised to be here 2 days ago. I say, throw in an HVAC guarantee, and that house is sold instantly. Beautiful home in a terrific place.
OK Then at under $200,00K you'd have a beautiful home, with lots of character, and in my eyes a bargain! Unlike the cookie cutter crap that they build today.
Well said Terry. You would think people would understand the home needs renovation with an $90,000 price tag. This home will be beautiful again. It is under contract and the new owner will have a incredible home when the reno is done.
You would be surprised at how low your monthly payments are stretched over 30 years. Most of the time it is the same as what you pay for a decent apartment. The way they built houses back then - utter human and humanitarian stunners. What human beings should be. Maine and all the beautiful natural areas of the US are stunning.
Of course I'm in love with this house. And so very glad that some of the original woodwork, floors etc are still there. It looks pretty solid and has good 'bones' so to speak that can be used in any restoration. I think the price is amazing also for that size lot and the square footage contained in the house and barn as well.
Honestly this house doesn't need *that* much work. Usually these kind of houses the exterior trim is all rotted but this house looks great. Replacing a heating system isn't that expensive, or maybe replace with heat pumps. The electric isn't ideal but lots of houses still have knob and tube. The bathroom is a little scary. Kitchen is unusual but functional. The wallpaper upstairs is great. Hope whoever gets it retains the charm. Thank you for sharing the video.
You'd be nuts to keep knob and tube. Safety first. Imagine doing all the work to restore and the place caught on fire, due to cheaping out on wiring! Modern appliances would draw more amperage than the aluminum wire could handle, which equals heat, fire. Remember the FD is 50 miles away.

Insanely gorgeous house!! If only this was shown 10 years ago😭. Definitely has the makings for a bed & breakfast. Best wishes to whoever purchases this home!
Thank you for watching and commenting! It is a special place for sure.
Def needs more bathrooms for that though.
@@nvalles2565 Most definitely ☺️
Wow Wow Wow!!!! A little work and she would stand stand proud and grand!!! What a beautiful piece of history
It is absolutely teeming with potential!
There are a few other homes on this street priced in the mid $200k range. The price of this home reflects the reno costs involved. Good buy
Great point, Claire!
It would take 200k just to reno it right.
@@AnnSisuLiv that's where a licensed appraiser comes in handy just to properly inspect the property. I understand Maine doesn't require this but not sure? But I would think the money spent on one would be well worth it.
@@clairelivefreeordie2551 Appraisers tell nothing regarding how much reno will be needed.
@@AnnSisuLiv I disagree...they can point out any structural damage which is the most costly. And the roof...another costly repair. With this house, it's a relatively small part of the roof that needs replacing.
Such a pity that this wasn't available six months ago. It would've made my "worth looking into" list when I was house shopping.
I am certain that it will sell quickly. Congratulations and many years of happiness to whomever buys and restores this house.
Thanks for the comments Paul
I've never been to Maine, but now I have an urge to live there. What a beautiful home for a great price!
Wow old Victorian Homes were a dream of mine they still take my breath away! 💜💜💜
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
This is a gorgeous home! I would love to have this to raise foster care children. A dream home for foster care children. Wish I could afford.

Lots of running. :)
Perfect
I’d buy this in a heartbeat as a family home. It’s so worth saving
We agree, thanks for watching.
$89,900 seems like a steal to me for this very large home with that GORGEOUS staircase that enthralled me and had me hooked from the very beginning of our splendid tour. Great job!!!

I love the front porch
MY GOODNESS!! THIS IS STEAL FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE! I LOVE THESE VICTORIAN STYLE HOMES❤🙏
BEAUTIFUL HOME🙏
Thank you so much!
What a beautiful home , Thank you for sharing this with us .. Someone will be lucky to purchase
Thanks for sharing. We now have a lucky winner.
Oh yes that wood paneling has to go! The house has lots of potential for future residents.
Thanks for sharing.
@@lifestyleproperties You're quite welcome. I see maybe period wall paper and antiques. The kitchen would be a a fun redo. Maybe a granny flat in the barn area or a studio. The entryway is unusual and that wood paneling doesn't do it justice what with that beautiful staircase. I do think panelling halfway topped with wallpaper on the straight up walls would be nice but there are so many angled areas that plaster or wall paper would be best. I'm curious how it was originally. I would love to see original photos. Lots of space, original features, interesting history and beautiful grounds. My kind of project just not at my senior age. I hope someone takes it on and gives it a new life.
@@jhankri We are on the same page! I am not able to do the renovations like I could when younger, but I agree with your ideas! Without being able to physically do a lot of the work personally (tiles, ceramic replacement, painting) will get very expensive. The renovations will probably start at $300k minimum (plumbing, replace rotten boards, roof, electrical, etc) and probably has termite damage, need Asbestos removal, etc. It would be worth it to restore though.

What a great tour! Thank you, so entertaining and informative as well. The house is remarkable. I wish I could get my husband to move to Maine! Watch the property taxes in NH. It varies town to town. We have a normal 3 bed 2 1/2 bath house and we pay over $8k a year. I’d rather pay income tax! Lol

Yes it would.
Fantastic tour! Probably the best, most in depth home tour video I've seen... thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You did a beautiful job of presenting the house and the area around it
Thanks
As beautiful as it is, the restoration cost would be double the asking price.
Maybe, but look what you would have when done.
Still less than an average ugly new build in most states.
Still worth it.
Furnace doesn't work?
double? You wish it were that low.
The wood used in a lumber baron's house would be quality stuff, most of it still in good shape.
Thanks for commenting.
Yes, you could see that in the bare roof rafters when she toured the attic. That's good wood.
Makes sense!
Thanks for sharing.
You totally caught me off guard when you said, “there’s even a golf course….if you like that kind of…frustration”. I almost spit out my coffee! 😆🤣😂😂💀
What a beautiful home. Born in Maine, I can recall visiting my grandma in Lincolnville with a home similar in beauty! Early in the morning a man would come by in a truck selling home made donuts & my grandma would go out to meet him; just to please her grandchildren!❤
Thanks for sharing the memories!
Love rubarb! I’d keep the doorbell!💕loads of potential! Would make a separate living quarters and reuse the old kitchen 💕💕. I would also save some wallpapers they are so nice!
Thanks for the comments.
For a beautiful house like that at that price it's probably Haunted.
That’s what I was thinking too.🤣😂🤣
Thanks for watching.
Before buying , talk to some neighbors
Thats a bonus!
Friendly ghosts if anything, seems like a great family home
Carmen I think you are a doll and are obviously very honest, thank you for being you.

Just curious…are they leaving any of the beautiful pieces of furniture in the house?
The property is currently under contract.
Museum quality property. I hope someone restores it to its original glory.
We hope so too.
Gorgeous stairway! Must have been a master carpenter that did it!
For sure! Thanks for watching.
The stair itself would probably cost tens of thousands of dollars to replicate today,
My jaw hit the floor when I saw it!
#1 rule for me in buying a house, is a grand entrance, with a handsome staircase inviting you in.
This house is gorgeous. I absolutely love it.
I love this, very inexpensive! There is so much you can do with this place. I want it!
It is under contract sorry. Keep watching we are looking for the next one.
You have so many properties that are what we're looking for (I just feel pulled to Maine) but the job situation is a deal breaker =(
I live in Maine and would never want to be anywhere else but….. the job situation is tough… you either have to come to this state with money, or be willing to work for low wages.. and be satisfied with that..it’s quite safe and beautiful and the seasons are delightful….but Maine is not going to offer top dollar in the income Dept…still, it’s so worth it, to be here..🙂
Businesses are hiring in Maine. Also, many people are able to do work from home. It all depends on your skills, but is worth considering.
If you can work from home this place would be worth it. Have an online business too.
Beautiful! Good luck in the sale! Historic Maine.
Thank you!
Gorgeous, I love Victorian era homes.
It will need a lot of updating and some major renovation projects done too.
But the natural beauty that is hidden could be easily brought back to its original grandeur!

When she says "This house has everything." I was wondering from the beginning if the house is possibly haunted..... Do the Kelley's still inhabit the house? It's a beautiful house and if I had that kind of money, I would love to live in a place like this.
No hauntings to our knowledge.
I thought the same thing!
I owned a 1904 home that had a ghost. I simply demsnded it leave in the name of Jesus Christ and invited the Holy Spirit in. No problem.
Tell us about the Kelleys!

What a great house. Agreed paneling (and carpet) must go.
The upstairs wallpaper is loud but AWESOME... us it depicting Mt. Vernon? Hard to tell...

I'd love to restore this whole place wow what a fantastic house
Thanks Debby
This is when they built things to last. I watch the stuff they throw up nowadays and bemoan the greed and lack of foresight that has led to our throwaway culture. I grew up in an historical home in Massachusetts. Sadly it was sold and turned into the dreaded and ever present "open concept". I hope this beauty is bought by someone who values its history and returns it to its former glory. Wish I was still young enough to take it on myself.
Fantastic tour!
Thanks for sharing.
What a beauty. Such character and is a steal. I like that they loved color back then and the hardwood floors. It was so functional too. I prefer house with separated rooms (kitchens). Love that house
Thanks so much!
Restoration will take the entire "This Old House" crew & $500k
Reminds me of that movie The Money Pit.
I'd say more like $50-80k reno costs
Not that much!
We disagree, it does not need that much work. Come take a look.
How beautiful is that? Is the price reflecting the furnace issue? Do they know the cost to repair? I love this property !!
The price reflects the condition. No estimate for heating repair has been done.
SOME restoration!!! I just love how realtors try to upstage properties that need 100K of reno
It is under contract and the new owner will have a incredible home when the reno is done.
when people say they dont build them like they used to, this is what that means. that foundation is something. I would love to tour this property.

You would be surprised at how low your monthly payments are stretched over 30 years.
Most of the time it is the same as what you pay for a decent apartment.
Down payments can be next to Nothing, for 1st time homeowners.

Second 20 years later. 250,000.
And 5 years after be signed for it we
Got a refinanced at a different rate, knocked off 79,000 in interest and 15 years of payments. Payments stayed the same.
Now in 10 years we will be free and clear.

Of course I'm in love with this house. And so very glad that some of the original woodwork, floors etc are still there. It looks pretty solid and has good 'bones' so to speak that can be used in any restoration. I think the price is amazing also for that size lot and the square footage contained in the house and barn as well.

That house has the potential to be stunning. I love the kitchen sink and the cabinets. Wouldn't change those at all.

Oak Island MONEY PIT.
Not really.
Thanks for the tips!
Beautiful home. This house is big enough for a dormitory!
