Here in new orleans all the streets are like that, the city is built on what was once a swamp. So the streets are constantly caving in, the city will fix the bad holes once a year but within a few months they're back to their bad state.
@@TheKid12363 Here in NYC we have the same pattern. 🤣 City fills them up once a year and then it's back to crap again. Then, we have the utililities companies dig up the road to fix stuff and leave it in bad condition. With holds line up and drains in the road. Bad situation.
This is such a beautiful home. So we'll laid out, and just overall lovely. I've fallen so in love with Victorian homes as of late. I wish more homes adopted these kinds of classical styles.
Yeah right! They were drafty and expensive to own! And the craftsmanship for most part is gone! These were a rich man's home! I once worked as a locksmith! I got a call to fix the locks on the front door of an old home! God the front would defy a battering ram! All that was wrong was some screws were loose and the front door lock needed some oil! The house looked like the nineteen twenties! The pool was the newest thing in the house. And the people liked living in this old house! It was old and dark! Everyone to their own!
I absolutely love this House! If only it were in a different location in the Country somewhere. I would have a long drive way with Trees on both sides, and a fountain in the middle of a circular driveway. A pool in the back yard with a guest house, also a 3 car garage. I mean, as long as we are dreaming! lol
@@deborahbyom929 NO! Who wants to use a pool with the neighbors literally on top of you! At least in Spring Lake, NJ you have the beautiful board walk and ocean along with parks and a little bigger yard!
One of the finest homes I've seen. Absolutely gorgeous! The rooms are great spaces--not too big or too small---warm and cozy and beautfully maintained. Outstanding, quality building materials. Why would anyone want to leave this place?
Well you probably would not be very comfortable in an ACTUAL Victorian house - this looks like a fake built in the 80s. It is not restored - it is done over (and overdone).
This is my favourite video of all time! I love the estate agent's descriptions of the house and the way the two guys talk in general about the house. The house is the best I've seen on RUclips. The atmosphere of this house is conveyed so well in this video. This is the perfect house. Better than any $20,000,000 mansion. The Garden District reminds me of Holland Park in London. Imagine lying by that pool in Spring and looking up at that beautiful tree in the garden.
This is the most beautiful house I have ever seen; love the blending of historical feel with modern amenities. I could just sit and look out the front door for hours. And I'm totally intimidated by it's opulence.
A masterpiece! Stunningly grand, yet cozy. As an owner and lover of historic homes I truly understand the value in the restoration and upkeep of these treasures. Worth every penny!

I’ve viewed hundreds of real estate videos over the last year, and this is still my favorite house! There is just something about it that so perfect for me. I wish I was moving to New Orleans! I’m sure someone is living in it now, but I wish it was me!
Omg this is an Awesome Beautiful Home! I Love that everything is painted white, but I would definitely paint my favorite color Turquoise on some areas of the house! This is hands down my all time Dream Home! ❤️I Love it! #VictorianQueenAnn Great Job to who ever restored it! 👍
I’m not crying .. ok seriously almost underpriced. Like Jacob said you can’t by those old trees or the perfect setting so really this house has it all. Fantastic job on the filming. Most forget to give you the view out the windows and don’t realize how much that draws the viewer into the home. Best restoration I’ve since in a very long time.
It’s like this house was made for me! From the kitchen cabinet hardware, to the real shutters and the choice of finishes, counter tops and floors! Beautiful but not pretentious! I love it!
This is literally my dream home on my dream street in my dream state.... like this is what I picture when I close my eyes and picture the perfect house on the perfect street. Omg. I've seen this in my dreams. I swear to God.
Exquisite Victorian home. The Garden District has some of the most beautiful homes and landscaping. I love this era and if it were my home, I would be decking it out with a bit more of Victorian furnishings. But alas, each to their own.
Breathtaking! Absolutely my style. I have a Queen Anne too and my contemporary art and furniture work perfectly. Personally, I love an older home, but don't want to live in a museum or grandma's house. That style of decor just wouldn't be me. Have to laugh at the price difference. Here in small-town Indiana, I paid about 2.5 million less for roughly the same amount of space on a corner lot. Happy New Year!
I love to see renovations like this one. Modern amenities and yet all original woodwork, fresh looking, all walls, lighting , cabinetry, hardware, kitchen, bathrooms are period accurate. Gorgeous!
I love how the fluted Corinthian columns of the front porch are repeated at the door and then on the fireplace and in the bar. Sometimes Victoriana historic references can be too eclectic and overpowering, but here all the historic elements are in keeping with each other. This is a precious piece of history yet makes for a fully functional and surprisingly cosy modern family home.
Also, a VERY well filmed and narrated tour. A nearly "impeccable" presentation. Clearly these are the agents any wise seller in metro NOLA would be well served to employ to market their fine antique home.
It's good to see that the necessary updating didn't materially interfere with the restoration. They work well together. I appreciate that the video took us from room to room and included the entire house so that we could see how it is laid out.
This is absolutely gorgeous.. I am originally from Old city Phila ( I love old properties.) I imagine these owners easily got wat they were asking..Their hardwork and attention to detail are truly impressive.

If I lived there ,I would stay home in happiness ,the only car could be for the cook and if I needed to go anywhere I would hire a car lol...what I love is it is "move in ready " no need to do other work on it
It's beautiful. That said, I have a difficult time with "restorations" that paint all the woodwork white! The homes from this era had beautiful woodwork. I realize painting everything white has been popular for a while. In Queen Anne, Victorian, Renaissance Revival homes they generally had rich colors and woods, such as mahogany that make things like turnings, carving, all the exceptional craftsmanship stand out. Gives it character!! Personally I'd like to see it more as it was originally.
I agree. Better furnishings. more color, and at least some more authentic woodwork to fit the period of the home. At least this home is attractive. There are some Victorians that when you step inside everything is stark modern and completely fights the architecture of the home. If you want a modern home, why would you buy a Victorian. The most famous Victorian Painted Ladies in SF on the famous Postcard Row was bought and completely modernized inside with all Home Depot materials! I don't understand that.
My thoughts exactly! The white just totally washes out the beautiful dark woods that were probably originally there. Takes away from the beautiful woodwork that would’ve been there.
Having helped my parents salvage, strip and restain probably half a mile of old woodwork and 2000 sq ft of oak flooring for the house they were building in the 80s, I can attest that it's a ton of labor. If this house didn't originally have painted trim (some did) I'd guess this restoration was done by someone more interested in the potential sales profit than a sympathetic restoration.
This house is for people who love New Orleans and want /can afford to live there in style. The Garden District neighborhood is amazing. It's not about country living.
I lived in a mansion in Mid-City, in New Orleans, and it was built in 1861. (They would break up the mansions into apartments a long time ago. I had the entire front- downstairs) And YES! It was haunted! I have pictures!!! I KNEW someone was watching me!
Yes I immediately thought of Ms.Rice’s book The Witching Hour............this is a regal beauty indeed! The only flaw is the complete lack of privacy in the pool area and backyard with other homes looming over it on every side......a lot of money for little yard privacy. More land, more acreage would be perfect! Also the master closets are too small. It is beautiful however.
@@howardweber3986 , all the old homes I've been in included large chifferobes in the bedrooms for clothing storage. But those closets are pretty big. How much clothes do you own :D

Most of the heavy dark wood in Victorian houses looks wrong for today's sensibilities. Painting it white is the right thing to do. Here in New York, we have brownstones with heavy dark wood which some people preserve. Some people paint it out, and it looks right, imo.
All white exteriors and painted woodwork on the interior is not uncommon in the historic Garden District. The interior trim may have been made from softwood (such as pine) which is abundant down there, and which doesn't stain too well.
The donkey kind of has a meaning for the area that harkens back to when the house was built and farming and field work fueled the economy. That's what I got from it.
I noticed they didn't say anything about it. 🤣 it's awful. The only work that needs to be done on that gorgeous house is get rid of that satanic looking donkey.
Love how they opened up the 3rd floor to bring in more height and light into the 2nd floor family room. They didn't state whether the fireplaces are usable or merely decorative. I would like to see the basement as well - wondering what the ceiling height would be down there and whether the floor is poured/solid or compacted earth (given the age of the home). Would have been nice to have more grass and garden area in the side/back yard vs all the hard surfacing, especially if one has young children. Legally, I think the pool should have a safety fence of sorts surrounding it. I do love all the different porches and balconies. Not sure if the 2nd floor wrap-around verandah is built to handle a lot of people/weight. The 3 separate HVAC systems for each floor must have cost a fortune. Love the original stained glass. The closet space is amazing. The only thing that seems to be missing is an entryway coat closet. Also, there's no garage or outdoor storage for lawn/garden/pool items. Overall, a beautiful home that shows very well.
Realize this comment is a year old; thought it was gorgeous too. Since it’s in New Orleans, pretty sure there isn’t any basement due to the high water table.
