One of the best home tours I have ever seen. They don't make homes like this anymore. Whoever designed the house was pretty much ahead of his time. The first floor fireplace, wow.
They are not allowed to make homes like this anymore, because of the materials they were using back then. We "can" replicate a facsimile of these houses, but using lawful, healthier construction materials. I designed many houses. For nearly 54 years now. Just the layout basic plans. Modern houses can be very different in style with no ornate decor and with plain woodwork and ceilings throughout.

@@JULIETA5896 I live in the UK for 7yrs. I loved it! Hated to move back home to the USA. I would love to retire back there. I loved the rain and the architecture and walking everywhere. Beautiful house and garden for an incredible price. My mother had a Victorian/Craftsman from the 1900s that I grew up in. Many of the features in this property were in that house. It would takes lots of painting and striping of 70's paneling to bring this beauty back to its full glory but I would love to do it...if it was located in the South. Maine has way too much snow and cold weather. Beautiful country though but I can't hack the cold.
I believe that the plain bedroom is for a servant. In addition to the plain bedroom, the plain back stairway to the kitchen is further proof of having had a servant. I spent my childhood in a majestic 3 story Victorian, (which was later knocked down/demolished by eminent domain law to build a new highway). We had ornate curved stairs too. Very ornate fireplaces, with tiered mantles which had beveled inlay-mirrors, original gas chandeliers, very fancy ceilings with huge light fixture medallions. So much more. Times change and beautiful things come to pass into memories.
I sure hope this home sells. I grew up in a 3 story Victorian and thank goodness people have purchased it and kept history alive. Old homes are like massive oak trees.... Oh the history that they could share...
$99k for this home is a steal! That would be a very small down payment in some areas. Refinish the wood detailing and floors and pump in $300k to upgrade the rest and you've got a very nice home. Insulate those beautiful stained glass windows too. Keep the all wood furniture. That's easily a pricey home when finished. Great potential. Excellent presentation!
Oh, man, I fell in love with this house when you showed it last time! I can’t believe the people passed on it. We moved cross-country when we retired, but the other way from PA to AZ. We both wish we could’ve found something like this, though. I hope the next people to buy it will treasure it as it should be, and please don’t paint the woodwork white!! It looks like it was really a beloved family home at one time.
I ❤ love this house. It reminds me so much of the home I grew up in Iowa. It was built in about 1910. It had stained glass windows that looked exactly like this looking out from landing. We also had a staircase going up from kitchen, and our basement looked very similar. The detailing in the woodwork is amazing, so many features to love. And that yard is simply amazing. Sure wish I could live here. It would be an incredible adventure, most definitely!!!
In 1983, we bought a big beautiful Victorian home built in 1893 for $48,000 on a large corner lot in a small Western Washington town. It was a good family home for 12 years but buyer beware; these relics are very costly to upgrade, heat, and maintain!
For this price, you could take a loan for what you'd spend on a modern home--200k+, restore or upgrade it, and still come out ahead. The property alone is gorgeous, and all those details aren't found these days.
Beautiful home! I love the stairway! It is gorgeous! Truly Amazing ❣️ Hopefully someone can actually purchase this home and enjoy the beauty all around it! I don't think it would even take that long to renovate it? Thanks for sharing! Please stay safe 🙏
I grew up in an 1880 farm house in western NY. We moved in 1977 so it wasn't quite a hundred years lol But many of the things you've shown we had. We had a root cellar instead of a cold room. Our home had a Franklin Stove in the basement that I (at 9) was in charge of banking for the night and getting up in the morning. We had a small fan on the stove but the rest of the house (2nd floor) was heated by heat rising! That was it!! It was freezing cold in the winter -literally! Our water glasses froze over night!! WE had a canning kitchen at the back of the house angled to catch the breeze just right.

Carmen, you guys made a nice video. 20 years ago my wife and I looked at many old Maine houses for a 2nd house and saw many of the features of this house in other Victorians.
This house appears to be eminently restorable. Most of its old features are still there. If you don't think you'll enjoy winters in Island Falls, restore it for use as your summer home!
Wow. So many amazing features! This is just lovely and with just a little bit of careful restoration and lots of TLC, it could truly be exquisite again! It reminds me of the house my mind's eye remembers from Little Women. I would really love to see slow panning of the kitchens in homes like these, and also of woodwork. I was born in Maine as was my father. He lived in a beautiful home similar to this growing up. He met my mother while in the military in Arizona and that's where I've lived since 6 MO old. 75 years old now, will probably not see this beautiful state in person now.
The music and some of the clothing are what I love about the 70s. Cheap wood paneling and dropped hospital ceilings not so much. Especially not in extremely old houses like this one. Every time I see houses like this being pushed into modern day times I want to scream. I think the reason it's being sold so low is because it's gonna cost a lot more to fix it. Especially if it's restored. Not renovated. Restored to its formal glory. I wish I was rich. She would be lovely if she was mine. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
House sold! Inspection was completed and the owners would have had to disclose problems. Anyone purchasing this house most likely knew the present conditions.
Beautiful! I wonder what the town is like. My mother bought her Mediterranean Spanish style house that was built in the late 20’s, however she wanted a craftsman style home. However, craftsmen style homes in her area are supper expensive, especially fully restored. My dream is to own a historical home one day.
That is a lot of house for the price. Plenty of room on the lot for a vegetable garden in summer. Enough bedrooms to turn one into a massive walk-in closet and another into a master bathroom. Even enough room indoors for a two horse stalls, hay storage and a horse drawn carriage.
I was one of the thousand phone calls but I was thinking why put it back on the market at 99,900. It barely covers the costs that the buyer probably spend. If you had 1,000 phone calls, why not put it on the market at 159,000.00? It is still a great value at that price.
Not stained glass ,but Art glass. Sorry, not being mean just info. Love all victorian homes and this one is certainly a keeper as i believe they all should be kept if possible.

Few things are more irritating than a realtor video on a 128-year-old house with no mention of lead paint, asbestos, condition of plumbing, and age of wiring. Since the house sold less than a year ago there's a fresh inspection report somewhere. I assume a local inspector was employed. What did they find? Asbestos was used to insulate steam pipes and lead paint wasn't banned in residential structures until 1978. Are there any asbestos shingles? Removal and disposal are expensive. Maybe the current owners didn't want to move across the country, or maybe the house needs all new plumbing and wiring and remediation of safety issues. Just because the electrical panel is modern doesn't mean some or even most circuits are still tube & post and given the age of this house its "modern" wiring could be 60 years old. Electrical wiring from 50+ years ago was rated for 50-year service life. If the house was rewired between 1960 and 1970 there's a chance it has aluminum wire, which is a proven and deadly fire hazard. The dead furnace should have been disclosed upfront. An oil-fired steam boiler for that house, with the install, plumbing ("some" steam lines still in place), and haul away is easily $20k. Where are all the radiators? Original radiators have a high chance of wearing lead paint. This home would have had at least a dozen. Original windows are pretty but not thermally efficient. Was the house ever insulated? What's the annual heating bill? It's not all bad. Fantastic floors in some rooms, the basement is epic, city water, metal roof (but what about the porch?), roomy and the house seems straight. Septic isn't a problem per se, but how old is the tank and sewage line? Modern septic systems are sized based on the number of bedrooms. Does the septic tank meet modern requirements? A new tank & lines would run about $5k. There's an obvious dearth of local buyers. Not a good sign in a village of fewer than 1,000 people. I'm looking at an easy $50k to fix all issues with high annual energy costs thereafter. If you want to entice people to move to remote northern Maine (100 miles from the ocean) there's got to be a lot more disclosure. Otherwise, why bother making the trip? I owned a home built in the early 20th and did a lot of work on it. Every question and problem I have with this vid comes from experience.
Your concerns are eye-opening. If anybody wants that house, I have the boiler for it in my basement here in Virginia. It works perfectly at burning $600 a month on oil in the winter. I will throw in the outdoor oil tank for free. I went with central air many years ago to reduce my bill to about $300 a month including all electric usage. I do wonder, why there aren't fire places all over that house? Surely, it did not include the boiler when built?
Not to mention termite damage, settling, inadequate structure, compromised structure often created from plumbing. I bought a farmhouse built in 1860, completely gutted it, redesigned it, doubled the square footage, modernized it for energy efficiency. While attempting to maintain the farmhouse feel, re-purposing some of the original character in the rebuild. Ultimately I could have built a new home quicker and cheaper but without all the character and heritage.
And, that is why it is selling for 99,900. Yes, of course, it _may_ need all that work and some. If you are in the market for this style of home, then it is expected to cost a lot to update it at that selling price. This is not a turnkey home and will take a lot of time and money. I don't know where you can find an updated Victorian Home of this size for under $300 to 500k.. Probably much higher with the size of the lot and today's market. This is a video to showcase the home. When the right person (who wants to invest in this home ) comes along then the realtor will go into more detail about the home.. this is just a video to find that person/people.
ruclips.net/video/NYhk3N1-gFg/видео.html Sorry it was actually a link on the screen and depending on the device you are viewing on you may not be able to see that.
I would get rid of the paneling and replaster. Then, if there is enough room, I would put in a geothermal heat pump. Third: I would blow in cellulose insulation.
I can't believe it's only 99,900. because if it were in Western Canada it would be over 1, 000,000.00. It's beautiful for it's age and the property along with it.
Would love to buy this, pitty is on the other side of the world. I cant believe you can buy a 5 bed house for under 100k, my 2 bed costs 5 times that and the taxes are the same.
I loved this when I saw it the first time. It is beautiful but we thought it needed a lot of work for the price. I seem to recall knob and tube issue. Has that been addressed? That and the furnace would be big ticket items and then a lot of other things.. Hope you find another buyer soon who will give it all the love and attention it needs.
So many needless criticisms of the home. ...looking for attention. Lovely home. Terrific price. New owners will muddle along somehow in spite of the 'warnings'... Good grief.

@ 10:25 you mentioned you'd link another video in the comments, but I don't see that link. Did you forget?
ruclips.net/video/NYhk3N1-gFg/видео.html Sorry it was actually a link on the screen and depending on the device you are viewing on you may not be able to see that.
The new owner is flipping this property for $20,000 higher than that original listing. Not nearly as attractive now but I do love this old house.
@@samthai818 Thank you for that - also - the difference is only $10,000.
I would get rid of the paneling and replaster. Then, if there is enough room, I would put in a geothermal heat pump. Third: I would blow in cellulose insulation.
All great ideas. Thanks for the visit.
I can't believe it's only 99,900. because if it were in Western Canada it would be over 1, 000,000.00. It's beautiful for it's age and the property along with it.
Thanks for sharing.
Lovely home !!!
Thank you! 😊
agreed!
Did anyone see the porch light turn on at the very end?
Thanks for watching.
It was the ghost that sits in the rocking chair sitting all by itself upstairs. Did you see that?

Thanks for watching.
I don't see the link to the video of the attic and cupola. Can you post that in comments or in the description?
Thanks in advance.

@@lifestyleproperties Thank you.
Would love to buy this, pitty is on the other side of the world. I cant believe you can buy a 5 bed house for under 100k, my 2 bed costs 5 times that and the taxes are the same.
Thanks for the comments.
This house will cost alot more to make it liveable and with out the ability to finance that person would have to be rich
OK. I love it! How do I put an offer in on this property?
Sorry it has sold.
Good price, but count on spending two or three hundred thousand dollars or more to update it and bring back it to it's former glory.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@lifestyleproperties Hi, does it still have knob and tube, or did the previous owners update it?
Are these homes liveable at first or only after major Resto? How can one find available?
We are looking for more.
amazing value......the average house in New Zealand is now $US700,000.....
Thanks for sharing.
Paneling, 60s carpet and wallpaper needs 2b gutted. Super windows, parquet and original woodwork.
If unsold am ready to purchase.
It has sold.
I always loved the idea of historic homes, but I'm also afraid that I'd buy a haunted one lol!
Thanks for watching
Wow, love it!
Thanks for sharing Meg!
nice ! but can i ask a question no Ghost ? want to be sure.
🙄
Very beautiful but if maintaining it it’s more expensive I would rather prefer a new edification.
Beautiful home.
Thanks for watching Kathleen.
this would be a perfect starter home
Maybe, thanks for sharing.
It was listed for $89k two months ago, no?
It sold for 89,900.
Thanks for the assist, Laura!

I love this house.
Us too, thanks for watching.
Great price
We agree! It has sold.
So many needless criticisms of the home. ...looking for attention. Lovely home. Terrific price. New owners will muddle along somehow in spite of the 'warnings'... Good grief.
Trolls will be Trolls Bill, thanks for sharing and watching😁
