Yeah and there are still people out there, like Secretary Ross, and the senators in this movies, who will demonize heroes like Capt. and Supes for failing to save everyone.
Oh please, don't try to compare Marvel to DC in this regard. Marvel is as light as it gets. In Ultron, Hulk smashed an SUV that 3-4 african cops had taken cover behind- in the real world, they'd be roadkill- but the movie makes a point to show them tumbling away unharmed. Likewise watch one of their action scenes, like in Korea (Ultron) or Winter Soldier and see how many cars on the road get flipped on their roofs or blown apart- so many people would be dead. Iron man against the bots in Iron Man 2 alone would've killed or maimed hundreds. Glass ceiling shattering onto thousands of people from hundred feet up. And in Civil War, the thing that finally gets them in trouble is not civilians getting killed- its a dozen people from a made-up country (Wakanda). I like the Marvel movies but they've got no seriousness to them.

This movie wasn't perfect, but one of the many things I think it got right - even in the theatrical cut - was showing Clark's guilt over the people he couldn't save. He may be the most powerful being on the planet, but he also holds the weight of the world on his shoulders... occasionally literally.

Oh, I agree 100% - I think that was a stupid change on their part. Jonathan Kent dying from a heart attack was a brilliant move in the Christopher Reeve version, as it taught Clark that lesson early on. The problem with the tornado scene is that he COULD have saved his dad if he decided to - not so with a heart attack.
I think it's more poignant here. In reeve version it seems he can't save everyone because he isn't powerful enough and can't prevent heart attacks (which his time reversal power could clear and if script really wanted they could invent a new power which Reeve Supes is prone to doing. In this vesion he can't save everyone because even when you do something good there are consequences "no good deed goes unpunished".It's more clear Superman can't save everyone because bad things will happen no matter what you do. If he saved Jonathan he would expose himself.if that happened I can almost gurantee he would not become hero he is today. Government would hound him for tests. He would constantly be on the run with his parents and his life and life of everyone he potentially could have saved as Supes would be destroyed. So it's father's life or his anonymity which will pay off HEAVILY later if kept. It also inllustrate sacrifice is a necessary part of being a hero.

I love how he's clearly cooking in a kitchen in his apartment in the city, yet there is a wall full of tools like spanners and ratchets and so on just beside the TV. Reiterating that he might be the most powerful man on the planet as Superman, and a skilled investigative reporter, but there's still a lot of farmboy in him who will always have those tools at hand just to fix things.
Good eye to catch those details. Even some homemade lemonade in a jar. Hold up! You’re saying even the props and background set have meaning, a purpose? And that adds to the film’s layers and substance? 🤝

I really love how they explore the fact that at the end of it all, he’s just one guy. He’s not some god that can save everyone in an instant. He’s superMAN. He may be unlike any other person, but he still has the constraints and humanity that any regular person has. You know he wants to save everyone, but if he could, it would be a perfect world. And there’s no such thing. He knows people will always die, even when we win a battle or overcome a tragedy. And that’s what makes Superman a good character, is the fact that he’s still human and has the main component of being human, humanity. They think he decides who lives and who dies, who matters more than the other. But it’s just like with us normal people. We wish we could save everyone, but that’s never possible.
They made him up to be a god, yet they denigrate him when he doesn't live up to their expectations.

Earthquakes happen because when tectonic plates shift and collide with one another, one of two things happens: Either one plate pushes over another, creating hills and mountains, or they continuously push against each other, building up potential energy. When they finally release and go past each other, that potential energy is released into kinetic energy, causing the Earth to tremble.
If these plates were in the process of pushing, and Superman is either warned by scientists (not currently doable in our world), or he uses his X-Ray vision and happens to see it, or he can hear anomalies in Earth's shift with his super hearing, he could in theory push the plates apart to prevent the quake

I loved how Ben Affleck played the Batman , he was serious and effective . Superman is a character who wonders what he can do and what he can think , what choices are normal and which are not .
Zack Snyder perfectly embraces the biggest picture of what Superman represents and creates a bigger world with a dark and realistic tone about the struggles of people and men who happen to have some abilities of their own which are unique .
Overall , Batman v Superman is an excellent superhero film that presents the troubles and questions of some iconic characters .

Very well said, that’s why Zack Snyder is such a genius. He captures the humanity in a person who’s essentially a god. He shows Superman to be an actual human who still experiences the same problems as regular humans, but on a much larger scale.

This scene captures Wallace's commitment to his hatred for Superman so well. Not even just his planning, but the fact that he trained his broken body well enough to scale a huge statue just to spite Superman shows how the Black Zero event destroyed his life and consumed his future.

This scene is very hypocritical. There's always casualties in times of war. Given that superman had to fight many kryptonians of his level, the casualties would be enourmous. How can he choose who gets to live and who don't? Powerful yet not a God.

People call him a god but he doesn't call himself that, his just a hero that saves people that needs saving.
I think Man Of Steel, and to a lesser extent Dawn of Justice, are being more appreciated nowadays because of shows like The Boys and the overall kind of fatigue of superhero films post-Endgame make these darker more cynical/realistic approaches more appreciated by more people. This movie still has *loads* of problems don't get me wrong but it had a vision and a tone that I appreciated (along with Man of Steel and all the way back to Watchmen) so I'm excited for the re-release of Justice League and hope we can continue down this path
In my opinion, BVS UE is perfection 10/10.
But I still respect your opinion on how much god knows your opinion of loads of problems with BVS UE movie, which I am still curious.

@@kartikadewi3270 Oh despite my issues with it the full uncut version I'd give a solid 8 out of 10 no problem, most of the problems are things like certain shots or setups not working as well as they could've, some pacing issues, thematic clarity, it's a lot of little things that I mostly overlook. There's only 2 things I outright hate in the movie; the direct lead up into the Batman v Superman fight when they're talking to each other (I'll go into more detail on this if you want, my critique is lengthy) and the rather contrived sidetrack scene with Wonder Woman to show off what were essentially teaser trailer's for the other Justice League characters (Bruce could have handled Diana the files at Clark's funeral, if it had to be included make it an after credits scene at least)

The movie had deep ideas and it had MAJOR balls. We just did not deserve it at the time.
The MCU movies have spoiled us with over-the-top CGI and cookie-cutter fights with cheesy dialogue and inconvenient jokes spread throughout.
Now THIS, was true filmmaking ambition. This movie isnt perfect, but it played with the characters and positioned them in the real world. We saw our own reflexion on it, and we ended up disliking it just for that.

0:23 that that right there I would’ve paid to see a dark knight “the second” style theme with this Superman, they have cavil who is perfect to play Superman and whenever they show him thinking and giving home human characteristics like having empathy at the fact that he couldn’t save everyone even though he truly wishes he could because that’s how good of a heart he has... they could’ve made a really more emotional take on Superman rather than just what we’re already use to. That sound too that they use at 0:23 when Clark’s thinking they used that same sound in the man of steel multiple times and each time it played during a scene Imo THOSE were the best scenes because it gave something you feel that you normally wouldn’t feel in a Superman movie

Man this movie was so beautifully directed. Such an underrated film. WB didn't honor Zack's hardwork on this movie and they screwed it up and it hurt this movie's critical reception so bad. BvS and Zack deserved better, I hope Zack destroys his critics for good with his Justice League.

In terms of visuals I gotta hand it to Zack, he's amazing on it. I still feel like the whole DCEU is rushed and not well thought out. Or it does have great ideas, but it's either not well executed or executed too early. For example, Superman's death does not have an emotional impact to me at all, and to other people that I've asked as well, cause so far he's not a well written character. He's only on screen twice and he's already dead? in terms of how Superman is potrayed, Superman Returns does it better.
Some of the blame goes to Zack. :p We didn't need "Meet the future League!" in this movie :p We didn't need to see Bruce in the alley again. In fact, I'd argue seeing that, took away from others areas that could have been expanded.
Not to mention, they could lighten up Superman (I say this as someone who LOVES Man of Steel).
The movie had flaws. One of them being Doomsday looked terrible :p
Brand X doomsday looked fine. And I disagree about the wayne murder. They needed to show that.

Same way a cop or firefighter does it. You do what you can and save who you can. He just does it on a bigger scale. Still doesn't mean he can save everyone. Even Superman can't be everywhere at the same time to save everyone. He's gonna have to make choices and people will die because of those choices and other people will live.
You want him to do nothing? If two people are about to die and he can use his powers to save one of them, but not the other, should he not do that? It's tragic that one person still dies, but if the alternative is that they both die, saving one is still the preferential outcome. You just don't see it that way because you happen to be family to the people that drew the short end of the stick. While that is very tragic and most people would sympathize for your loss, it's not necessarily his fault. He doesn't pick the fights, the fights are forced on him.
As Peter Parker said in Civil War: 'When you can do the things that I can, and you don't and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.'

This movie was under-appreciated and waylayed by a bandwagon of sycophantic nut jobs who had only ever seen cartoons or parodies of superman. Let superheroes take themselves seriously and stop trying to put superman in a box of caricatures and condescendingly blind optimism.
