Democrat Patrick Leahy has been in office representing the Great Mountain state of Vermont since 1975 thereby making him the current Dean of the United States Senate. He's also an avid Batman fan who has appeared in every Batman live-action adaptation since 1989 in cameo roles.
The emotion that Henry put into that one look as he stood in the fire was some of the best out of every movie ever!! The hurt and the realization that he couldn't save them and now will be blamed.
Homedude looked BORED and frustrated, like he walked in and found krypto has torn up the couch. He didn't rush to help anyone, or look for survivors. His first response was to be disappointed.
@Harshvardhan Aside from the horrible Lex Luthor and possibly Amy Adams as Lois, the cast was near perfect. Cavill was a great Superman and Affleck was equally good as Batman. Had they not botched Luthor so badly and left out the Doomsday part, keeping the focus on Batman vs Superman, this could have been a great movie.
Yeah, perfect face & body for the role. Then he looks so "mighty" in those movies by Snyder, not like in the poor DC series for teenagers! The way he walks with the suit is perfect, he inspires "the power"! The suit he had in Man of Steal and in BvS was very good looking. But the JL's one has been modified with enlighted blue and white parts on ABS and it looks crappy.
Don't tell anyone but the suit is all padded to make him look a good 30lbs bigger than he is. They'll also make sure to film him from all the best angles and have the best lighting on him at all times, and if he ever has a scene with his shirt off he'll be pumping up with some dumbbells right before filming the scene. Same! Ever since I first saw this movie, Superman should've for sure had his speech in this scene. Would've been even better tbh since at this moment, he's standing up to humanity. He would've probably gave a real Superman like speech too. Sucks.
Yeah but the point was for Luthor to not be there so it would've made him look guilty if he just stood up in the middle of the hearing and left and all of a sidden the Capitol blows up
Those who are wondering why couldnt superman saw the bomb inside the chair is because it was made of lead and superman cant see through it...luthor knew it but it was not included in the theatrical cut....damn thats why we need snyder cut of jl...
@@MakisHMMY it was one of those things were it is established in the comics he can't see through lead. They went with that as well but the scene that revealed this was after the explosion and comes out of the blue. What made it bizarre and ultimately cut from the theatrical release is that it wasn't Superman who revealed he can't see through lead it it was Lois who tells Superman the chair was made of lead and tells him it wasn't his fault since he couldn't see it, establishing that somehow she knew Superman can't see through lead, even though prior to this there was no evidence that he can't see through lead in the DCEU , and something of that magnitude would have had to be established earlier in the film for all of it to work which it never was
@@Tyrineal but my point is that he could see that his view was obstructed , he probably could tell that it was lead or another "dimming" mechanism involved. This should make him suspicious. If I thought of it , he would have thought of it. It's simply a plot hole.

Because supes it's still fighting inside him with his own feelings. After and only then, Lois discovers that the bomb was covered in lead.
@Eric Hawkins It's not the superman we just know. The one that saves anybody in any condition. Not yet. He is struggling internally with his feelings and it is stated clearly in the movie (he said this to Lois on her apartment's balcony), that he wasn't watching (not scanning).

This was a clever way of setting up Superman. I've watched all the Superman movie's growing up and really don't recall ah time where he was made to look like the bad guy like he does in this scene.
That's because there's never been another film where Superman is framed as the villain. Unless you're counting the animated stuff. And quite frankly, this move by Lex Luthor was stupid. The frame up in the beginning in the desert was a much cleverer set up.
@@AdamRK78 Not really. They were equally good. This one complemented the one in the desert. This made it seem like because of Superman, regular people like the guy in the wheelchair go crazy. Kinda like how without Batman, there is no Joker. So the guy is made to look like a suicide bomber because he lost "everything" because of who? Superman. And this gives more people to be irrational, saying it's Superman's fault.
This scene is all about what Superman is. As a generic good superhero, of course he’s gonna be sad when he couldn’t save people. Superman is a good guy!
The older i get the more this scene means to me, life, good intentions, those that have designs for control, the futility of good people fighting against the engine of greed and a selfish quest for power, yet still the good do what they can knowing they cannot win.
This movie is the best example of how people would react to being with this power among them, no other comics movie has ever done anything close to that realism
One small detail that I really like about this scene is the way he appears and introduces himself. Without flying, he walks calmly and opens the small door normally. Those who saw him as some kind of deity would feel a more human energy from him with such actions. If he had come floating and simply made his way to the podium without touching a foot on the ground, the feeling would be completely different.
It was very sudden and engrossing. I think it was done great considering the man of steel has super speed. It was meant to make Superman seem vulnerable for not being on top of the situation. A tad unbelievable even by his standards but it got the point across. It makes me flinch every time I see it too which is why I love it so much
oh man.. the fact that most people still think this movie is bad is beyond my comprehension justice league shouldve never been finished without snyder and affleck and cavill should never be replaced...
The fight was anti climatic to say the least. For a movie hyped around the conflict between the two, the payoff was beyond disappointing. I will say the buildup was quite nice though. However, it only served as a greater magnification of the let down of that fight. And I do get that in a true fight Superman could have won in half a second, no sweat, and they sort of had to tone down his power/combat capacities.
@@uglahboi6074 another problem is doomsday, doomsday was never Zod, if they kept the story of doomsday the same as the comic book it would have been 10x better,
I wouldn't say it's all bad. the theatrical release is a 4/10. Extended cut 6/10. It had very high expectations and the screenplay writing wasn't good enough despite everything else like the cast and visuals being cool
If you compare it to the animated Superman vs Batman, the movie loses ground. All that build-up, all that climate - and in the end, the fight was pushed, misplaced all over.
That scene is surely the best scene in DC history. The regret/sadness on Superman's face upon seeing the destruction and death of people who were making him accountable for the things he did to save the city in Man of steel. Bravo!
I’ve noticed something interesting the last 2 and half years: When this movie came out, it was met with very harsh reactions. A lot of people hated it. When justice league came out, people kinda shrugged and said: “it was okay.” It seems people’s opinions are switching though; BvS is getting more and more praise, and Justice league is getting more and more flack. BvS has aged incredibly well, JL did not.
I think they should've gone man of steel, Batman, then bvs, wonder woman, and then a DC Trinity movie and then a cyborg movie then flash movie an Aquaman movie and then they should've gone with justice league.
Alberto Quinones That would have been interesting, but you don’t need solo films for team ups to work. Look at x men, or guardians of the galaxy, or any other action adventure movie with a large ensemble. It’s all in the writing and performances.

Also, I would automatically get suspicious whenever I was anywhere near any lead-lines container. Finally, a ultra-bottom heavy 1000 pound wheelchair would set off all sort of attention in a security screening. Also, it would test positive for explosive residue. Of somehow they bypassed this, they would still inspect the wheelchair and discover that it has a hidden lead-lined box.

That he was prepared to appear in front of a judicial committee is surely such a gesture of good will that any doubt as to his honorable intentions would have been dashed (at least if that bomb hadn’t gone off).
Y'all arguing about what Superman should and shouldn't have done 🤣 This is still a young Superman. He's not as experienced, plus he's just as human as anyone else, so the shock would've been the first thing he felt when the explosion happened, and then the guilt afterwards. Honestly, why is this movie so hard for a lot of people to understand? It's just the growth of Superman and Batman's characters.
Same thing as in Captain America: Civil War. Where people hold the collateral Damage Villains caused against the Superheros trying to prevend it. The ONLY time it kinda was their Fault was when Ultron destroyed Sokovia, this time they did clean up their own mess. And even then it was really only one's Person fault: Tony Stark. And suddenly for Tony it was "Guys *WE* need to be kept in check" Superman? Sure he fought Zod, who was hellbent on destroying the Humans and he sure as hell had the Power to do so. If i was in Supermans or Captain Americas position in this instance i would've just said "Sure, next time an Event happens that threatens the whole World, i just lean back and see how you handle it without me." And guess what, Luthor already had Doomsday cooking up, that would've been a funny sight to behold.
@@CedricBassman then you don't deserve to be a hero. Superman is a true hero. Honestly, this scene perfectly represents why I feel Henry was utterly let down on portraying an accurate Superman. Yes, fine, we can have the shocking scene where Lex bombs everyone and frames Superman. But could we not have 2 minutes of Clark speaking for himself in front of the world? Show the good in him, the hero, the leader? Same with the scenes with Jor-El in MOS. My God, I cannot tell you how much I want exposition man (Jor-El) to just shush so Clark can voice how feels. About humanity, about Lois, about his purpose in life? Just something. But so often in MOS, Clark seems so passive, a participant. And I know people will push the 'Zack was building towards the Superman we know' argument, but to me, there's just so many scenes in the Snyderverse where, even as the movies progress, Clark is portrayed taking a back seat, letting Jor-El, for instance, voice to the audience things about Clark what Clark should be speaking himself. And naturally this robbed Henry of the opportunity to showcase his ability, let alone the Superman of 'hope and optimism' he was desperate to convey upon his supposed return. Henry deserved better.
“The one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall die trying. In spite of everything you’ve done for them eventually they will hate you” - green goblin
One superman doing that is not exactly realistic, as kryptonite is possible to acquire and superheroes like Shazam exist in this world. One unit of Kryptonians? Sure, but one person? No.
*This is why Zack needs to comeback as well not just Henry because we won’t get badass scenes like we did in MOS, BVSUE and in ZSJL of it wasn’t for Zack.* 💪🏽
If I were Superman, I would have told if this is the way you feel about me after fighting forces that you couldn't defeat Then I'm leaving! Fight your own battles.
I'd say it's truly because Lex was jealous of superman, and thought that if he was the one who manipulated him into defeat, he'd feel more powerful than superman ever was.
Well that's stupid. With that logic, he should be killing every damn cop out there, or anyone whose job is to help people. But I guess evil doesn't need logic.

Henry cavill was DC's best choice for the role of superman....🤘🤘
Sucks he is leaving
@Harshvardhan Aside from the horrible Lex Luthor and possibly Amy Adams as Lois, the cast was near perfect. Cavill was a great Superman and Affleck was equally good as Batman. I think they should've gone man of steel, Batman, then bvs, wonder woman, and then a DC Trinity movie and then a cyborg movie then flash movie an Aquaman movie and then they should've gone with justice league.

"You want my property, you can't have it"
Love that diologue 3000 😅
"You can't handle the truth"
Wrong universe...🤣
That look on Clark’s face when bomb exploded ...... is so disheartening !!!
This scene was kinda dark.
"kinda" ?
Eh, Superman II was darker. Ripped the revolving light from the police car and hit/killed the boy riding away.
NyuuMikuru1 Thats dark too but I think what makes this scene particularly impactful is that this could happen in real life.
@@satanclaus1693 exactly. Not to say something like this has happened, though it most likely did
that's the point
“The one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall die trying. In spite of everything you’ve done for them eventually they will hate you” - green goblin
God Znyder CAMEO : 00:28 Zack Snyder is with the camera on the left
Just noticed that
@Hydra Hamad simple, but smart
Offfffff Zachary died in this scene:(
I read that on Twitter too
Lmaooo he’s legit filming another angle but gets away with it Bc there would be somebody filming it
Ah...so that's what a 49" chest looks like...
...man I need to workout...
@Jurica Sambol probably means health.
@Jurica Sambol didn't see that typo. Thanks
Its funny how he could've just obliterated all of man kind without breaking a sweat
Nope it will take a sweat
If you watch the new Suicide Squad 2 Trailer, Superman got shot by Idris Elba’s Character by a Kryptonite bullet. Who knows when it happened though.
Still lost to Batman
One superman doing that is not exactly realistic, as kryptonite is possible to acquire and superheroes like Shazam exist in this world. One unit of Kryptonians? Sure, but one person? No.
@@DooberD33 He was holding back + batman used kryptonyt against him
*This is why Zack needs to comeback as well not just Henry because we won’t get badass scenes like we did in MOS, BVSUE and in ZSJL of it wasn’t for Zack.* 💪🏽
We should call these movies the Zack Snyder trilogy
I felt so sorry for superman 😭😭
Same.
I felt sorry for all of those charred corpses.
What about the 100 people who died?
If I were Superman, I would have told if this is the way you feel about me after fighting forces that you couldn't defeat
Then I'm leaving! Fight your own battles.
Unfortunately, Superman is too kind hearted for that.
And that's what makes Superman super, he doesn't do that.
Well, it was because of Superman that those forces came to earth with the intention of destroying it
@@sheeplastname430 But this is his only home where would he go
@@starboysuniverse9956 True
All this, because Lex didn't have someone to save him as a child. When you didn't have a hero, so nobody can.
@@g.masterlordoftheg-force4770 well cops aren't god like figures.
@@g.masterlordoftheg-force4770 also cops in metropolis are a joke, almost as bad as the ones in gotham
Superman got done SO dirty by a Humanity that wasn't ready for him, nor deserving. It makes me cry. This is how I feel when I share my resources with people.
I love the sound editing in this scene it makes everything so sad and painful to watch as everyone is seeing the explosion from the news and from outside the building.
