    disclaimer: there's actually no evidence that the ninjato ever existed historically. It was a later invention primarily from the entertainment industry. Even if you think about it logically the ninjato makes no sense, why would a ninja, who relies on infiltrating places without anyone suspecting him, wear a uniform or carry a sword that could uniquely identify them as a ninja, especially when swords were so heavily restricted during large portions of Japanese history, and having one would draw unwanted attention to them. Ninja didn't really operate by skulking about in shadows and doing parkour, they dressed like the people in the place they were infiltrating, gained entry without drawing attention to themselves, and did what they needed to do, which was mostly gathering information. They were the spies of their time, and operated as such. This isn't to say that the skulking and assassinations never happened, because they did, but that was a very small part of what ninja did, and when they needed to assassinate someone, dressing like a commoner and hiding a dagger was often a much more effective option.

    • @RiFeX2703

    • @kranvagoun2240
      @kranvagoun2240 Год назад +1

      @@Corrupted Im not sure that's the case. As far as I've heard there are two possible explanations why we thought they even had a black uniform. First is because the illustrations of the Edo period in which it was common for people to wear masks. As it was to expensive to get a fancy mask, people usually bought simple black robes with black masks and media today use that as a reference for a ninja. Second is that they used black robes for a theatrical purpose. Moving props from the background "without being seen" so that they don't disturb the play. The idea like the green screen today if you will. Even without those two reasons I don't see why they would need a uniform because they were like hired commandos in a sense. I might be wrong though. If anyone has any information that is more accurate I'd like to know.

    • @Shadowsphere1

      It's probably based on things he's heard from masters while training, or from people who pass down that information through word of mouth. Remember, having no evidence doesn't necessarily mean it's not true. And historical archives aren't going to accept hearsay, so if it was definitely real but only described through word of mouth, it wouldn't be considered evident of existence.

      We have this believe that ninjas were trained assasins wering black gear and using the ninjatō but that's not the case, they are no record that we have found about that, even the world ninja isn't assassin like some people believe, but is covert agent/spy.

    • @Musicaddict2232
      @Musicaddict2232 4 года назад +1

      Andrés Pérez you are correct. The title says Japanese sword experts now and I’d give them credit for that much but don’t mistake it. They are not trained warriors. They could probably school most normal people with a blade absolutely but a trained classical samurai would have the edge over them because they’ve tested their fighting style against all sorts of others back in the day and that sorted out what styles worked well and what styles looked good and fought well against their own style but couldn’t match up against other styles of martial combat that had been tested in real combat over time. Martial arts has many examples of this such as how Kung-Fu is actually not very good against other MMA martial arts like Japanese Judo and kick boxing which have both proven to be extremely effective when used against almost any style of fighting. Kenjutsu and Aijutsu are great for fighting Kenjutsu and Aijutsu fighters but when put up against someone unconventional like how Musashi fought with a giant wooden pole they’d break down as they have no ways of dealing with opposing someone with much greater reach and striking force. I myself won’t claim to be any expert but from what I’ve seen from research and watching masters of so called “martial arts” like Tai chi have their bells rung in mere seconds when faced with fighters using Judo and Kickboxing. It’s very telling.
      Edit: upon review I have re-looked into Kenjutsu and it holds up very well as far as a true discipline of fighting goes. It’s matches well against styles from all sorts of places including fencing which is tough to manage. Can’t say the same for Aijutsu as it seems to work only if the user gets the first strike or first move off. High risk high reward with Aijutsu. Also the fact that one is a kendo instructor lends some good credence to their credibility as experts. I must retract my earlier skepticism. They are likely as close to warriors as most people will get these days (excepting military personnel and real life combat veterans and fighters around the world)

      Sorry but the word samurai actually refers to a way of life rather than a soldier caste. Although the soldier or protector that served a master in feudal Japan were called samurai. A samurai are actually those who live by a certain code of honor. And just like the knight there are those who still wish to live by those codes

      @@sirsukena6914 It was a way of life of a soldier. And of course they focused on a certain code just like any other medieval soldier because they had their own ruler. If they didn't follow that code then they wouldn't only lose their honor as a soldier but lose the rulers respect as well. Which makes them a rogue and an outcast. Soldiers like knights and Samurai weren't only brutes but we're also pretty noble to their rulers. A lot of rulers like Kings and Shogan's had their own military status as well and invested a lot in their military. Rulers weren't only very nobile but were also war lords. So it wasn't a way of life but a way to not be seen as a fucking goof or bad soldier by their crown boi. Basically, a ruler can smell a bullshit soldier.

    The fact that the dude said that ninjatos were used back in the day takes away all of his credibility. The ninjatos are not historical weapons.

    These guys don't know their sword history. "Ninjato" aren't real lmao, not a single "ninjato" has been found that wasn't produced in the 20th or 21st century. Kodachi were succeeded in purpose by tanto or wakizashi; they're from the tachi era predating the katana. And a katana is only curved to a degree that its thrusting capability is not compromised, the Japanese stopped using straight blades a thousand years ago with the chokuto. They might know modern martial arts but they're not historians haha
