@@admiredgsu1217 traditional Japanese restaurants usually have some good money behind them. @@IfImCommentingStopMe That's true. But it looks like he found time to reply to a few comments when it's about money and viewer count. Also, when youtubers start out - including this channel in the beginning - they reply to a lot more comments. Now he's too busy to bother with the peasants.
Wait wait, you guys actually think he kept it? && For 2 years?! ✋😂 Epoxy waterfall furniture popped up in Asian art trends 2 years ago, the original inspo source he took 👮 this from (and Walmartized) were considerably more artistic or when filmed to be explanatory, verbose, but in either case, demonstrated genuine enjoyment and care for the craft. You know, instead of: - Covering up his lack of planning for the river scene by photoshopping the clickbait "river" on the thumbnail. - Slapping on a cracked and jagged piece of acrylic (cut with a saw!!) and going, "Whatever, I'll just hide it with a couple o' far shots." - Rushing through every single step at the end - from haphazardly gluing, calking, and torching, to adding the rocks solely by size and chef's kiss, and finally, tossing handfuls of plain, monochromatic dirt like a toddler. - As you so aptly pointed out, zero plans or consideration for water cleaning / overall longevity. Of course, he also could have gone the explanatory route, where the beauty matters less if you just want to show how to build something correctly. But this wouldn't be so offensive to the originals if he did that. Nope, this is where he opted to play generic, royalty free "Chill" music with the absolutely sporadic timing of white text revelations. Good god, I went back to check for credit to the original art's sources (None) and noticed, HE DUBBED IN THE WATER SOUNDS TOO! That's it. I'm done. This is my first & _only_ time checking out this channel, and it's obvious the only part of this process he actually enjoys is collecting those sweet sweet RUclips doubloons.
This is absolutely insane. I wish I had one to put in my place. Imagine falling asleep in the living room to the homemade river noises 😭 incredible work man. So much respect 🫡
Wow. There's nothing better or more restful than being surrounded by nature. The way you've brought nature indoors is so beautiful. Another fabulous project.
What is "nature" about this? It literally sits on a burned polystyrene, whole tube of toxic glue was blasted to hold the rocks together, motor pump is running the stream... The project is neat, but "surrounded by nature" looks and is very different.

The only problem I see is that using (mostly) natural materials like this means it will probably need constant repair over time. Water just tears things up. Epoxy might actually prevent that.
Thanks for this! I am about 80% done with my own version of this. I added some strip LEDs, a power outlet and usb ports on the side, and added a glass cover for the side as well as the top. Overall it was a ton of work but it's coming along really well. I used styrofoam for the base like you did but i soaked it in spray paint and spray lacquer to help waterproof it more. Otherwise, I pretty much followed what you did here and managed to come up with something pretty nice. Thanks again for the awesome video and inspiration!

Wow, I never imagined a project that but that you have shown me I can't wait try one myself. I been building furniture for 60 years but never anything so striking. Tahnk you
VERY interesting concept, has my wheels turning about summer projects. Drew, if you don't mind people asking, what would you do differently if you were going to do this project again? Do you think it would work better to set the plexiglass cover into a lip routed into the top, instead of setting it onto those padded pegs? What could you do to make the flow look a little more turbulent? I think a dining table version of this would be unique and mesmerizing, but it probably mean leaving out the waterfall. I'm also kind of thinking about a "zen garden" version of this with nice rounded river stones. Thank you so much for this great idea!
It was actually hard to sell on the local buy and sell when I listed it (before this video had lots of views). Ended up selling it for a few hundred. Needed money for the next build haha
I made a hydroponics setup with a Styrofoam cooler to hold the water. Apparently it slowly leaks (slow enough that you barely notice) and destroyed the table it was sitting on. Knowing that for this setup I would have made the holes for the rocks removed them then applied a waterproof coating or two and continued with the rest of his setup.
@@8Blackmamba81 I was skeptical about the styrofoam not being fully sealed up as well. Also, with the flex seal as I’ve seen that fail before also. I have made terrariums with foam but I sealed the foam with mortar and painted it with drylok. I’d be worried his silicone job isn’t perfect and water getting into the foam and turning it green and stinky. Or leaking.
@@richardp444 It's all ridiculous idea to have water running through a table over a finished wood floor. @@dixielp let's be realistic though... even if everything was sealed to perfection, it's still going to get green and stinky. Keeping water clean and algae free without a filter is really difficult (hell... it's even difficult with a filter)

I was initially confused/concerned because I thought it was going to be another build like Matt Estlea’s “Actual River” table, but you seem to have improved upon the concept aesthetically and made it look much more river-y.
I’ve been making a lot of rivers in people’s back yards and just seeing this is amazing especially with the little details that makes it look like a miniature version of an actual river.
That sounds really cool. I'd love to see your work. I jokingly told my wife I was going to do this one day because I grew up with a river in my backyard and missed it.

How often do you keep this on? Does it run on changable rechargable batteries or electric line? Does the styrofoam sit well after 24/7 use for a year? Do you do a specific Clean Up Routine to prevent Mold, Mildew and Bacteria? I'd love a FOLLOW-UP VIDEO touching up on these topics!
I'm going to be completely honest, this is the first video of yours I've seen, I genuinely thought the "real river" was going to be clickbait, and that it was going to be epoxy. You've got a new, very impressed subscriber 😁

Wow finally someone else did this! A while ago I made something just like this (although this one is way better). Made a table with a river on it. I did use the same setup of making a channel in the middle of the table, carving it and forming it into a river, and then using a pump to circulate the water. The main difference is instead of legs, I had a solid base table, and the table base as a big box/container to hold the water and putting the pump at the bottom of the box. The water in the river would just waterfall at the edge down to the base. Also as a tip, make sure to use chlorinated water or else it will get moldy and become mosquito heaven. Secondly, do use the preserved moss, with my table it turned brown after around a month or two.
I've been watching a lot of wood working shows over the last year or two but this almost made me fall out of my seat sir and how naturally you put it together with what seemed to be quite a few original curbs and tactics back flips. Great work had to sub because I can only imagine what you can do with the torch when it comes to like checkered, stripes and the different kinds of wood, stain ext. Like some goth, biker or wonderland pieces.
This is such an awesome piece of art, but I can’t help thinking that if I had had something like this in my house as a little kid, I definitely would have played with my stuffed animals in the tiny river.

Just coat a few layers of epoxy on the base, it will keep the bank protected from long term wear, prevent any leaks and makes it easier to clean which would also prevent mold.

I won't lie I was a bid dubious when I saw the video title as I wasn't convinced it was actually neccessary but I'll happily hold my hands up and say that table is stunning, I didn't know anyone let alone myself needed one of these in their life until I watched this. Incredible craftmanship bud.
Wow I just found your channel on my news feed but this is amazing I love this craft I showed my mom this like "hey mom you'd totally build things like this" and she loved it too, good work!! Keep it up! ;) Glad to have found your channel 🙂
It was beautiful. I think part of the problem with trying to sell something like that is most buyers would fear the high maintenance and upkeep of a piece like this 😅
I don't think its a serious piece. It's just for the video. The water would dry out almost twice a day and burn the motor if not kept up. The wooden sticks would begin to rot and stink like a dead animal, and the foam would eventually erode after a few weeks. I could see this as an art piece for parties, used once in a while for an evening and stored away most of the time. It would be cool if a larger dinner table was made for rare dinner parties

I think this is an awesome project, good job on the build. I recently have been working on my aquariums and built a venturi-type aerator, when I saw your thumbnail pop up I thought that something like that would compliment your build to add more of a white water effect. What do you think about trying a river table with an aerator? maybe for a future build or update to this one?
Nice! It did seem at one point like you weren't wearing a respirator while burning polystyrene, though. I'm sure that you're taking proper precautions now, but be careful with that. Polystyrene is a really dangerous substance to burn, in terms of chemicals being released into the air around you.

super super cool! I love it. I'm wondering if you were to ever make another one if you could get the water to split behind a larger rock right at the base of the waterfall and the black container could then be hidden as two behind the slabs. that way the rock can go all the way to the floor. or even just go to one side to make it easier

@@TigerGreene I mean--the video has over 6300 comments
@@IfImCommentingStopMe That's true. But it looks like he found time to reply to a few comments when it's about money and viewer count.

Wait wait, you guys actually think he kept it? && For 2 years?! ✋😂
Epoxy waterfall furniture popped up in Asian art trends 2 years ago, the original inspo source he took 👮 this from (and Walmartized) were considerably more artistic or when filmed to be explanatory, verbose, but in either case, demonstrated genuine enjoyment and care for the craft.
You know, instead of:
- Covering up his lack of planning for the river scene by photoshopping the clickbait "river" on the thumbnail.

Nah, epoxy is still dope.
The only problem I see is that using (mostly) natural materials like this means it will probably need constant repair over time. Water just tears things up. Epoxy might actually prevent that.

Very nice. Can we get an update later Showing what if any waterdamage, mold build up, upkeep is like? Im curious about a few things.

Tahnk you
This has to be the coolest table ever built. By far. Awesome work!
Spectacular, I can imagine what people would pay for such a masterpiece
It was actually hard to sell on the local buy and sell when I listed it (before this video had lots of views). Ended up selling it for a few hundred. Needed money for the next build haha

Hey Drew and team - do you have update on how the table is holding up? Any changes you'd make to the design? Keep up the awesome work!
Or leaking.
@@dixielp that’s the only thing that can happen. It looks great; but water WILL find all of the flaws in the sealing. And there are plenty
@@richardp444 It's all ridiculous idea to have water running through a table over a finished wood floor. The tables probably not even there anymore he just did it because people will watch the video and it worked because he has four million views. It's a disaster waiting to happen. @@dixielp let's be realistic though... even if everything was sealed to perfection, it's still going to get green and stinky. Keeping water clean and algae free without a filter is really difficult (hell... it's even difficult with a filter)

I didn't know furries watched this kind of stuff :0

Hard for mold to grow in running water
Well, you can always replace the water and maybe put some chemicals to prevent any mold.
Just coat a few layers of epoxy on the base, it will keep the bank protected from long term wear, prevent any leaks and makes it easier to clean which would also prevent mold.
@@thoughtsengineer while that would normally be a good idea the chemicals would corrode the art pieces and probably react with the glue used to keep them in place.
@@sawcondeez69 well I wasn’t talking of strong chemicals lol 😂

I don't think its a serious piece. It's just for the video. The water would dry out almost twice a day and burn the motor if not kept up.
