Lixjie a40 actually seems like a better buy comparing to ao300. Same specs and features, very similar price, but the a40 adds a phono stage so...why not?

What stands are you using with your JBL L100 75th?
Would you still prefer the Knight 1 over all other options with similar price? I remember you really liked those, but i havent seen many other reviews or comparisons with models such as Sonus Faber Sonata II or Mofi Sourcepoint 8. Happy new year! :)
Happy new year, I would like to hear those JBL actives at the end there I've heard people say some good things about them . I'm a bit treble sensitive and don't like the harshness you get with some of the metal / beryllium tweeters , around 5khz hurts my ears on some music . Does the horn give a smoother response and is it suitable for longer listening sessions as well as working on them for production ?

Thanks for a great year. I respect your knowledge and your reviews. Im curious of the R3 Meta and have a Class D NAD C298 (purify-tech). You said the R3 did not match very well with ClassD amps. Do you think it’s the same with the D amps with purify tech like mine? Just interested in your opinion? Or anyone else in the forum that have any experience of that pairing. Happy new year 😊
I have no idea how they sound with NAD but with my ICE Power mono blocks R3 Meta sound is too flat for my taste.

I disagree, I ran r3 metas with a Buckey Audio Class D (purify) and thought it was very neutral.
KEF have a precise clear sound signature focus on treble and mids , NAD have a very neutral sound signature, so it can be a bit too cold, the R3 is very capable for sweet tones particularly in the mids;for the most, tones on Kef are more musical and sweeter with AB / A class amplifier but of course it like always, that depends of taste. 🙂
I always love to see what the recommendations are - especially for price performance. Frankly, I'm quite happy with a pair of Kali LP-8 v2 being fed by a Jotunheim 2...It's important to find happiness in what you have, and these days sound quality is pretty excellent, even on the cheap! Only problem with the LP-8s is you really need to put 30% volume or above for the speakers to truly sing!
Hi Tharbamar. I have a Denon PMA1700 NE. I listen to digital music mostly via my Sony DAP which is wired to my amp via RCA to 3.5mm jack. I don't know if I'm getting most of my amplifier juice sound-wise. I have a budget of £400. Can you recommend something I can play wirelessly (Bluetooth) with my dap. I've been looking at ifi Zen blue V2 , SMSL DO300 EX AND Eversolo Z6 dac. Just for the sound quality which one should I go for. Or if you have anything better you can suggest or recommend for me would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi, I’m using custom made 19 inch hardwood stands, which greatly improves the bass quality compared to JS120 stands that included but L100 MK II and 75th is very different in some components like crossover and woofers so it may be one thing to keep in mind. Thanks

Tharbamar, I got the SMSL SU-1 and the Topping L30II for my desktop. I use Hifiman HE400SE and Grado SR125 headphones. I returned the two products because I couldnt tell any improvement over the 'cheap' Realtek Audio DAC on my computer. I went and took many audio tests and I couldnt even tell a difference between 128kbps, 320 kbps and lossless. This is the reason I got the equipment, because I thought it was my gear. Turns out, its me. I just dont have very good ears, I guess.
Some people have that issue with hearing but it’s a good thing to save money just focus on enjoying your music!

Thank you for the informative reviews. On the Eversolos, did you try the internet radio and if so what did you think. Everybody seems to focus on paid streaming services, while 100s of decent quality free internet station are ignored. I have trialed Apple, Tidal and Qobuz. My system is on all day with internet radio. Attached HD provides my library.
I auditioned the A6 and enjoyed it except when it came to its Tune-in Radio internet quality which was like going back to an AM on a small transistor radio. Compared to my Lumin U1 it was a no go and returned. It’s a shame its internet delivery is so poor and is not up to par with the rest of the unit. Not sure if the A8 is any better.
Sorry I haven’t used internet radio in very long time, but I would advise you to try Spotify free for similar to using internet radio. Thanks

hi, thanks for the recommendation, I bought the SMSL SU-9 Ultra and I'm very happy. I would also like to ask you for advice on the Topping L70 headphone amplifier and preamplifier? How would it fit with the SU-9 ultra? I like the screen, the preamplifier function .I don't know if the Topping A90d is that much better for that 200 dollars more. I don't have demanding headphones except the Beyerdynamic dt 770 of 300ohm. The speakers are Evo 4.2. Thank you very much. Hey Tharmabar, thanks for the great videos, I've been binging a whole lot of them recently. I have a question for you, since you're one of the *very* few reviewers who has spent time with the Musician Knight 1 speakers. Are you still happy with their long-term performance, and would you rate them as similar or better/worse than the Kef R3 Meta. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one of these two speakers, and I'm very tempted to try the relatively unknown Musician Knight speakers. Any thoughts?
If I have to choose one I would go with Knight 1 for more dynamic sound, KEF is a bit smoother but it can be boring in the long term but that’s me everyone is different, thanks

My speakers are LRS+ with a sub.
My issue is there seems to be a lack of midrange body,would running an actual preamplifier help this?

For 2 chanel stereo mostly movies and tv and Usher x719 speakers would you rather use ao300 or ao200 mk2 + balanced dac ( I have smsl d300 I can use for it ) ?

Any thoughts on this amplifier vs the Loxjie A40 for use as a 2.1 system only? I read online a lot of people having issues with the SMSL sub out.
I'm still using AO300 without any issue, FYI Loxjie is SMSL own sub brand with slightly lesser quality build.

There is a feature that the eversolo dmp-A6 has that the A8 doesn’t and that’s the hdmi out 5.1 can you think of ANY other streamer including your Sony Hap that offers this? Is the eversolo the ONLY streamer with this output? I want to compare before I buy the A6 but I can not find anything else on the market which is shocking ! I want this output to give my AVR the bit perfect signal for 5.1 music listening in my theater.

Some watchers don’t understand that flawless systems like the one you have are so clean and clear that cables etc make a huge difference and their systems have so much interference that they can’t hear it. They should go to their local audiophile retailer and see for themselves!
Hi, As far as I tested only A6 come with HDMI out, A8 is designed for pure two channel setup but comes with advanced DSP tuning, thank you.

It will be fine for normal loudness levels.

As I mentioned in this video, when it's come to end of the year list everything is based on price and performance.
Is the Topping PA7 Plus better with the Polk R200 or JBL Studio 630? Or does it go well with both speakers?
PA7 Plus should go well either choice of speakers due to transparent sound signature of the amp.
Eversolo A6 has GEQ/PEQ now in the new firmware, so DAP is no longer and advantage of the A8
And the Polk Reserve R200! Didn't you like them more than Elac and Wharfedale?
Would they be second place behind JBL? Because I remember you didn't even like the new KEF and B&W.

@@tbonet859 The signature of these cables is more on the warm, smooth, and relaxed side. Therefore, it is not very suitable for use with valves that have similar characteristics. But just like the Chord Epic, it depends on taste. If you like a warmer sound, you can combine them with amplification and warmer electronics.
No SMSL PL200 CD Player & DAC on this list? Is this CD Player gapless?
It's a great product that I love, only reason not on the list is I don't have other CD player review to compare with.

Really R3 Meta full burn-in will only take 50h? I remember you said that B&W 706 S2 will take about 300h to burn-in. Very long compared to R3 Meta. Is soundstage of R3 Meta similar to LS50? I can buy new R3 Meta for 1500$.

Yes I do not notice any difference after 50 hours or so, R3 Meta is more open and effortless than LS50, I think you are getting good price.

Hi,Please.Topping D70 pro sabre comparison with Musician Draco suggestion, I listen to jazz, and the speakers are Wharfedale evo1. And is it significantly better compared to the Topping D30pro, which I would like to transfer to another system to revive the 23-year-old Sony receiver and Sony cd player and pair my Klipsch Rp 500 speakers. Your advice is always crucial to me. I wish you more mogo reviews and good health.
