As someone who regularly sells on ebay, I totally agree that they treat sellers very poorly. Buyers get away with so much that wouldn't be tolerated in any other type of store and the punishment they receive if any is absolutely pathetic, even if they are repeat offenders. Ebay needs to remember who pays the fees and look after their sellers much better.
their mindset is if there aren't any buyers, there aren't any sales and therefore there aren't any fees. The buyers ultimately bring the money to the table and 'pay the fees'. Sucks, but it's reality.
@@AH-cl7fh It is the combination of the three but really two, ebay does carry the platform but the sellers carry the items, the buyer puts the trifecta to completion but ebay has many policies that just wipe sellers out left and right, I know as I deal with it all the time!
I knew watching the last video this wasn't over. Ebay customer service reps will tell you anything to terminate the call and leave you in a false sense of security
Working in a call entre sometimes you just tell the customer what they want to hear inorder to clock out and go home. We don't get over time if we finish at 5 and there's a caller on the line who doesn't want to hang up 😂@@tiggerpatchvintage1826
I totally understand as a seller I don't get how eBay don't even allow sellers to leave negative feedbacks to buyers, but buyers can leave negative feedbacks. Good luck on the case.
@@MoneyHungryPicker I started selling in 2010 and it was something sellers on the forums used to bitch about being removed. So they apparently had it in thepast and removed it. Dicks.
and most of the negative feedbacks don't have any actual justifications. When you request ebay to help remove those feedbacks, they just deny your request.
I have been an eBay power Seller for over 20 years... Sorry to hear about your experience. I have only run into a few of these people over the last 2 decades. The only way to protect yourself from most of the Scammers is to sell low priced merchandise. Once you get into higher priced items you open yourself up to these individuals. Most of the scammers won't waste their time on items costing $15 or $20. If I do sell something in the $500 range, include in the listing you will not sell to anyone with less than 25 feedback. If someone tries to buy it with no feedback I immediately cancel the order and block them. It is sad you have to do this to protect yourself from Chargebacks.
I sell to zero feedback bidders all the time and rarely have any trouble. People who find the items through google search are usually zero feedback checking out as a guest. But yes - not selling expensive items is the best advice without a doubt. The only real criminal scammer I've had in the last 3 or 4 years was for a $1500 item - and luckily it was thru Global Shipping Program and they found in my favor.
I hate eBay with a passion. 10 + years ago they sided against me after being scammed, and I've been longing for the day when they are no longer the go to spot, or even go under. Their Seller protection is a joke, and after all the countless times I hear that eBay sides with the scammers, well in my opinion that makes ebay themselves scammers. Really hate to hear that you are going through all of this and hope everything works out in your favor.
What you just said made a bell go off in my head..."that makes ebay themselves the scammers." Hmmmmm... after what I heard they did to that couple back East a few years ago... And they do literally control everything. How would we know? Just sayin'
Yeah, the last time someone made a website dedicated to complaining how eBay treats sellers they had roaches, bloody pig masks, and caskets mailed to their house. Now ebay execs are in prison for that, so you sure are right, ebay definitely watches sellers who complain, and terrorizes some who get too popular.
They hate me as don’t take threats lightly and go after them to the point they beg me to stop. I had one scammer acting tough threatening to kill me and etc two weeks later requesting I don’t to stop, as knew his real info and sent him a picture of himself even though he was using fake account information and address. I hate people that use means of intimidation to scare others into submission. It doesn’t work with me as a veteran and one to go after you without hesitation.
@@thetechgenie7374 I have no luck with that, I just had a buyer send me just over 50 messages yelling racist homophobic slurs, and all ebay did was laugh about it. When I called their support their staff thought they had me on hold but didn't, I could hear the support person and his supervisor laughing about the racist and homophobic slurs. That's ebay. Worst website / marketplace in world history.
I've just went down a massive rabbit hole with that, I did not know about this it wasn't heavily broadcast in the media at the time. Only a few news outlets reported on it. One of them used to be ebays's CEO and worked for Reuters previously. Another was head of safety and security at eBay and they used to be high up in the CIA. 😐😟
eBay has always sided with buyers and leaves sellers in the dust. This is terrible. The fact that buyers don't have to pay immediately on offers, you can't leave negative feedback for buyers, and now this. So sorry you're dealing with this but I believe you will win this. Keep the faith, stay strong!!
Actually I watched a video of a guy who got scammed and did take a drive to the scammers house. Had the cops meet him out there. Scammer was not too pleased to be interrogated and put on the spot. Got his merch right back. Good luck.
Glad to see you posted an update video, sorry that it still hasnt been resolved. I've been and still am a seller on eBay since 1998. That being said - I've gone through ALOT with them (thank god you never had to deal with the clown over in their VERO dept) and I'm down from 30k-40k a month to a few hundred at best - at some point - it just wasnt worth it. Mercari and Posh give a buyer 3 days to make a claim, eBay likes to be generous with a sellers funds for 30 days +. EVERYONE should know or needs to know 1) when you sell on ANY site - you need to view it as a DEFENSIVE game not OFFENSIVE. NO ONE cares about your money - NO ONE except you. Dont be a sheep, be a wolverine. Call them and bother them as many times as needed. Get case numbers (SR #s) and names in case you need that info later. 2) DONT EVER sell anything on eBay that you cant afford to loose (I learned this after "eating" a few high end Denon phono carts. 3) NONE of the people you mentioned - FTC, Police, USPS have the time, ability or care enough to help you - you are a simply 1 small number and there are a ZILLION people just like you EVERY DAY. 4) eBay and Adyen are together now - as apposed to be the old way where it was eBay and Paypal - where you had a shot at winning. Here - since eBay believes that sellers are noise and that buyers are their TRUE customers - ones they wont dare loose - eBay just goes through the motions to placate you. Get on their case, call them again and again with that SR# (SR numbers are their internal case numbers). 5) Do consider an attorney OR find out how to sue in small claims court (the buyer not eBay - that doesnt work btw) as its not to expensive and the buyer will be compelled to come to your town to respond. 6) dont bother with eBay front line overseas bozos - ALWAYS ask for a US based manger. I hope this works out for you ! One last thing - go to eBays Facebook page and make a racket. Use the "eBay for business" section and post a complaint there. eBay hates bad public pressure - people have reported that it gets them to actually do something (never did it - cant verify). Best of luck my friend!
This is the way! Lost so much money on ebay but also make decent money depending on the time of year, xmas season is a scam fest, trust me there. Currently have 500 dollars in returns just sitting and earning ebay interest. That is the part that sucks, if you do not have money to burn then do not bother unless you make it a hobby or are willing to deal with the bs.
As a fellow eBay seller this would be a nightmare. Can't imagine what you have go through in order to fight this scammer. So sorry you have to go through this BS, stay positive and hopefully you will win against that scumbag.
Honestly, I would have canceled the orders. Red flags from the start. No way I'm selling something that expensive to a 0 feedback buyer. Specifically because of this situation and how much eBay doesn't care for its sellers.
I went through all of this about a year ago. Everything you have done I have done, ebay lied to me also. I tried to file a police report with no luck. The scammer was actually a RUclipsr with 20k subscribers!!!! He did a review on the items I sold him and praised how happy he was with the purchase. When he realized I knew this, he took the video down and was like "What video?"......well, I had a feeling he'd do that and I saved the video!!! I'm still trying to decide how to go about this. He got me for $1300!!!
@@MoneyHungryPicker I do my research on people, wasn't hard to find him. The items in question were really really really rare and obscure so not many collectors for them.
I don’t sell anything over $500 on eBay anymore, and really just don’t sell much at all anymore. The scammers are running rampant and eBay does nothing to stop them!
This is why I put (READ) at the end of every title and put the disclaimer below in EVERY description. Yes, it takes my items a little longer to sell but I don’t get any crazy stuff like this happening anymore. I’ve probably sold 3,000 items since I added this disclaimer with zero issues. WE DO NOT GIVE PARTIAL REFUNDS so we record the testing (IF APPLICABLE), shipping and returns of all of our items to prevent fraud. If a buyer tries to steal this item we upload all 3 videos to RUclips and send the links to them in the claim and they have sided with us 100% of the time on our 3 eBay accounts. I’m sorry good eBay buyers have to read this but thieves have taken food off my family’s plates to many times.
Your disclaimer has no legal bearing. You may have been lucky and not had any issues but that statement you put has absolutely no legal bearing nor does it grant you any protection.
Problem is for me, the majority of returns I have is from people not reading the description lol I’ve started messaging them after they buy to make sure they read if it’s something with issues
@@phakeAccount It’s not a legal disclaimer, just a warning to prospective scammers that he won’t be an easy mark. That’s prob enough to dissuade many of them
@@YoureNotThatGuy69 if it’s a big ticket item I put (READ DESCRIPTION) at the beginning of the title 😂 . I know it sounds like it’s a bit much with all the stuff I do to prevent fraud but it’s necessary especially in this economy. It went from a few thieves here and there to most sells on eBay are attempted scams for me and that’s why I had to take the measures I did lol. Definitely out (READ) at the end of every title though. I promise you you’ll see a huge difference in scam attempts as long as your disclaimer says something that scares the hell out of scammers and sounds realistic. I actually record my testing, shipping and returns lol.
Really sorry what you are going through trust me it's the same in the UK. Ebay always goes on the buyer side its so unfair.. I hope you have a successful conclusion.
Couple of things: I have been an ebay seller for 20 years. Now granted I have never sold anything as high priced as you have, but I have had a couple of similar situations. Once sold $150 old iphone that was a few years old. Seller returned claiming it never turned on. When I received the phone it was a different phone. This phone wasn't as banged up as the one I sold. I talked to ebay and they said I had to file a police report in order to win my case. I did just that. I took it to my local police department, showed them pics of the phone I sold and what was returned to me. Like you, the police said they probably weren't going to do anything. But I did win my case. This just recently happened. I sold some items about $300 worth to someone in Australia. Three days after the sale, they opened an unauthorized sale with their cc and my funds got put on hold. Long story short, once the tracking showed delivery, my money was released. I don't understand why ebay is playing hard ass with you over this. You should, IMO be protected via seller protection. (Like I was with my Australia shipment).
Thank you for sharing your story! Yes I hope I am covered but until eBay says it’s completely closed out in my favor I will be a bit nervous. Thanks for watching!
@@MoneyHungryPicker EBAY had enough evidence to decide in your favor long ago. To anyone involved in something like this, inaction is part of the problem. If EBAY were genuinely against criminal activity on their site, they would not abuse you & others with a slo-mo lack of resolve. P.S. I bet EBAY is not waiting for this case to be "completely closed" before they partake of their (unearned) part of the profit.
i woulda pulled the docs for that address to see who owns the place. then see if you can track down a phone number then maybe trap him in a conversation about the product to confirm identity.
Steal 501 dollars worth of merchandise at Walmart get arrested and a felony…Steal 7200 from eBay seller using taxpayer businesses (USPS) police “sorry we don’t have enough resources to help you” Makes sense
It's like a friend of mine......For the past year or so, this guy's been harassing her....Sneaking into her house and sabotaging/taking stuff, and the police have more or less told her "We can't do anything...." I guarantee you, if she was someone famous, like an actor or politician, that guy would've been caught DAY ONE!
@@federalagent7334 If you knew my friend, the *idea* of her doing *anything* mean or heinous to *anyone* isn't just laughable! It's *insulting!* She's actually more of a family friend......An older woman....Sweet, cheery and loving! She'd give you the shirt off her back, if you asked! Which, makes the situation a thousand times worse to me! I have to wonder what HELL *THAT* person went through to think "I'm gonna harass this elderly woman!"
This happened to me. I sold a 1200 item, got the money and a month later eBay tells me the credit card was stolen. So now I don’t have the product and they wanted me to give back the money. Ebay is the worst. They don’t care!!! Especially PayPal. I hope it works out for you. I’ve been done with eBay for 5 years and I will never sell a high value item again.
Wowsers. I thought that was resolved! So sorry you’re having to go through this! I hope the credit card company sides with you! Thanks so much for sharing 💜
@@MoneyHungryPicker I've been though the exact situation with eBay where I won the case with eBay but they did chargeback after that. Unfortunately usually credit cards side with their customers and that's exactly what happened. I lost the item and $400 was drafted back from my funds. eBay then charged me $20 for "handling the case" which I got them to remove. I've tried other platforms but none have the same market as eBay....and I still sell on there. If you think eBay is bad, try selling Amazon FBA, they are the WORST!
The trouble is with you you saw $7200 and you just wanted someone to confirm that it was safe. But you knew deep down inside, It was not safe to do a transaction with that individual but the money was too tempting. As the old saying goes: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn’t true.
That sucks! This is why I only buy on ebay and never sell. I also video EVERY package I open from an eBay seller. Its a shame when people ruin good things. Good luck my man!
eBay into the vaulted card game now should be a conflict of interest for them to not prosecute this. How do sellers know these scammers aren't working indirectly on behalf of eBay?
That one picture thing to submit as evidence I really don't understand. It's like they just don't want to hear your side of the story. I had a guy buy a local pickup item, after he picked the item up he claimed he didn't recognize the charge on his card. I had messages through ebay messages arranging the pickup, text messages back and forth all day while he was on the way to pick it up, and video from my home cameras of him picking the items up with his truck license plates. Of course I don't have tracking on a local pick up item, so of course ebay closed the claim and refunded the scammer. Another 800 bucks lost on the ebay site.
Sorry this happened to you and I know it's really frustrating. I'm based in the US and a buyer in the UK did something similar. I sent a brand new item and he switch out my item and sent me back a used beat up item and Ebay sided with him. Ebay did not do a thing. In addition I had to pay to get back the item and when it was done it cost me $275. I really hope you win. In addition please post that scammers info so we as a community shut him down so he cannot transact. We as a community can help combat these POS
Wow, sorry this is happening to you. We sell through eBay because we believe we have better protection than meeting people to make a deal in a parking lot. But you still got robbed. I pray that this turns around for you.
I watched your first video and the moment you mentioned you had a bad feeling about the sale yet eBay encouraged you to ship anyway I knew it was not going to end well. Always go with your gut feeling. It's not worth the hassle, headache and time taken away from your business and family. I've learned as a seller you have to be one step ahead of the scammers and always have your antenna up. I hope everything turns out in your favor 🙏
We agree with you about high end items!! We only sell low end items but when goes for bigger value (not above £100)!! It's always stressful and it really shouldn't be. Hope it all works out for you !
Oh, I am so sorry you're going through this! I was so happy for you after your last video where it seemed that Ebay was doing the right thing, and then this. It's horrible.
As a longtime customer of EBay I feel so bad for any seller who gets scammed and I hate how EBay sides with the customer especially when there is something suspicious going on. You guys are the lifeblood of this site they need recognize that and take cases like this more seriously.
I’m sorry you went through this. I had similar experience and sadly I couldn’t afford the loss so my heart goes out to you. Side note I’m no longer on eBay or Etsy . Good luck in the future ❤
My family keeps telling me to sell on ebay. I'm 80 and trying to downsize. After you videos no way could I cope with what you're going through, my heart goes out to you. I've told my family I'd rather put my stuff in our local tip than go through any hassle
I really hope eBay backs you up on this, eBay wants to be the sports card market place and not supporting sellers being robbed is exactly how you do not build that market place.
Try contacting your Attorney General's Office as well as state AG of your scammer. Also contact your State Senator. It may not work out on a small claim, but if you explain your being left hung out to dry by ebay, it may help.
This is where you need to hire a lawyer if it comes to that, spending all that time and money on the hand and footwork is where the cost increases significantly.
Hey there! Your past two videos came up on my recommended tabs and I figured I'd share my experience. I own a retail gaming and collectibles store and often times we get people trading in high dollar ticket items. We had an incident semi recently where a customer purchased a $500 item from us and it was shipped via USPS with signature confirmation and insurance. The day after it was delivered, I received a message stating that the transaction was unauthorized and they already filed a chargeback and was demanding their money back. We promptly ignored it because if they were being truthful about the chargeback then I would've heard about it already. About a month later, I got a notification from eBay stating there was a chargeback and the reason was an unauthorized transaction. I was talking to a representative on the phone after and they said I will be protected as a seller because I bought the label from eBay while also including signature confirmation, which was enough evidence to suggest the chargeback was untruthful since the buyer actually signed for it. The case closed where the bank sided with the buyer, but I never got the money deducted from my balance because of the two reasons listed. eBay basically ate the $500. I know you said you'll stop selling high dollar items on eBay but I wanted to share my experience with you and others as to how I handled this situation and what the outcome was.
@@MoneyHungryPicker Anytime! Were all 9 packages signed with signature confirmation? According to the eBay rep, that was one of the main reasons why I was protected as a seller.
It is stunning that the ebay reports told you it was fine to ship to 9 different guest acounts, going to the same address. How is it that you didn't know the other 8 packages were empty as well?
I just recently bought something on ebay --- I was so nervous about being scammed - I never thought of it from the seller's perspective too! :) I bought a gaming computer at a great price and a valve index in incredible condition for a great price - both in excellent condition. Never did it ever cross my mind to scam the seller -- I was afraid I would be scammed.
I am so sorry you had to go thru this. You handled everything so well from the beginning. Thank goodness you documented this all from the beginning by making these videos. Maybe these videos will help you prove your case.
@@MoneyHungryPicker The guys name is Mark Rober that I couldnt look him up on RUclips Wikipedia the News ..it doesn't really matter the scam . I recently started using Ebay and have been making sure to understand the problems with Ebay and every possible scam so I can sell on Ebay without being a victim. So sorry that this happened to you. Hope you find a way to succeed. It sucks that Ebay backs the buyer and not the seller, but unfortunately, money makes the world go around and with that money comes very petty practices. Thanks for making this video. It's a good learning experience for the future. Just goes to show that you're one of the more honest and trustworthy people on Ebay.
This is a perfect example of why we need to stop paying taxes! Talk about taxation without representation! It’s got to the point that we the people have no government. Even though they are milking us for every dime they can. The whole reason for government is for people to be made whole when crime happens and yet there’s no avenue available for us to achieve the very thing government was established.
So horrible to hear . I went through the same thing , eBay took my money and I lost the product too . Destroyed my family financially , cost me many many many hours of time on the phone with eBay - and they constantly said I would be ok - in the end EBAY DOESNT CARE . Mentally , financially , emotionally eBay is a nightmare
I had this happen to me too on a pair of brand new high end sneakers and it was a lot of money that the credit card company sided with the scammer but thankfully eBay had me covered. Not sure if it was because it was the first time it happened but I do sell regularly on eBay just not high end items anymore. Not worth the risk. I’m sorry you are going through this it’s a lot of money to lose
There has been so much Fraud on eBay man. I Sell a lot phones on ebay and Ive been recently getting several Return Request, & Then they won't ship the item back and somehow they are able to open a case with ebay and ebay says they uploaded valid tracking whe they never did nor did I ever receive the return. Then eBay Refunds them without me getting my item back so annoying!!!!
Yeah it's getting so dishonest today that it's making online selling almost impossible. I don't sell much anymore but when I have a buyer I research them before I ship it haha
Sorry you have to go thru this.My sister had a scammer send her back a broken dirty item that wasn"t the same thing she sold them on e-bay. Of course e-bay sided with the buyer so she gave up selling on e-bay. Hope it works out for you.
It is sad because as a buyer I have been scammed too, I received broken items including a Sega jaguar and controllers with the internals missing and it was supposed to be like new. Then for a refund they wanted me to pay for the return shipping.
Dude....sorry that you got scammed! That really makes my blood boil. I can't stand a thief and unfortunately eBay makes it really easy for them to do it. They shouldn't allow "guest" to make purchases. They need to sign up for an account, add a cc, and be vetted in that the cc address and the shipping address matches. This would help, but not completely eliminate the problem. But as you said eBay needs to stand behind their sellers because that's who pays the fees. You need buyers, but you got to have the sellers first.
Never usually comment on videos, but had to say sorry you have to go through this man. The best thing I have done as an eBay seller myself is make sure that I do not offer any returns on any of my inventory to deter this from happening. Hope it works out in your favor.
Maybe as eBay sellers we need to start a movement contacting our senators/congressmen and require a law to put a stop this blatant theft. There needs to be a law to require credit card companies to stop allowing this type of fraud.
When I sell high dollar items I use goldin auctions. I also hear good things about heritage auctions as well. GMC cards. At goldin the buyer pays the premium so there aren't any fees for the seller. Plus they have their own insurance that pays out for fraud like this.
This happened to me two years ago when I sold a MacBook for £1000 when I was living in London. I have since moved to Toronto. I sell on eBay for a living and the buyer done the exact same thing. They filled a chargeback and won, nothing I done got me my money back. I felt physically sick. Im really sorry you're going through this and I hope you get your money back. eBay is awful for sellers.
Same, I jus subbed! I gotta know how this ends! Man hope it works out for him! It may sound childish, but that sh*t just isn’t fair on eBay’s part! They better be careful before people start thinking ebay is in with some of these scammers some how getting a kick back!
Hindsight is 20-20. Your first thought that this was a scam proved correct. Your advice was 100% spot on that if it seems fishy don't send the item/items to the scammer.
You are definitely not alone, im currently going through a very similar situation after selling an over 20,000 sports card lot! Only difference is the buyer filed for a refund stating the item was not as described an hour after he received it, its currently under investigation, he's trying to get his money back, but there's a problem he has listed the cards for sale on his own eBay and I screenshotted dozens of his listings of the cards he claims he's sending back to me, and my pictures of those cards in the same cases he's now selling! basically he's defrauding Ebay by lying and me by selling the cards and trying to send me back boxes of books probably, I'm sickened over the whe deal! It was a 3,500$ deal but for me it might as well be 30k ebay says It's looking good for me, but they seem to be on the side of the buyer more than me! I might have to payback the money, and lose all my cards. I'm probably done with ebay after this.
A very similar situation happened to me with a laptop sale on the eBay. 16 years on the site with 100% feedback and I’m DONE. They lie saying you are protected as a seller, you absolutely are NOT.
I sold 600 pairs of New balance shoes all over the world. I recorded every single packing and sealing every shoe. It save my butt every time. A couple people tried that too. It's sad that this is not have criminals held accountable. It's getting more and more on stolen CREDIT CARDS. GOOD VIDEO. NEAL
Should have just trusted your instincts from the jump that it was fraudulent activity. Would have avoided the headache. Talking to eBay seems to have done nothing. Always keep your guard up. Wait til eBay hits you with “that’s the cost of doing business” line as they recover $7200 from your bank account.
You knew this was a scam from the beginning and should have cancelled the order. Never trust the advice of a foreign eBay call center employee. They have poor training, a language barrier to overcome, very little authority to help, and usually will just tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone.
Try calling the local Sheriff of that scammer and see if they can help. I'd also consider taking Ebay to local small claims court since they gave you the "OK" to send to this suspicious buyer.
Keep an eye out for new listings of the items you sold. If one pops up with the scammer's town as their location, there's a good chance it's the scammer reselling them using a different account. Play the same scam on them, but use a PO box, not your actual address. Really hope it goes well for you. What I understood about charge backs is that eBay will cover the cost out of pocket as long as you have tracking. Maybe I read it wrong or it's different in your country.
I'm so glad it worked out for you. That's a lot of money to lose to scammers or anyone period! I wish resellers had a way to alert each other to con artists. Can't leave them negative feedback. smh
Damn, sorry man its shitty for a person to do that honestly. If they opened a dispute on their bank card, would they not have to open 9 different disputes/chargebacks since they paid 9 different times? I don't see why the bank would not look at them and see that there is something fishy. I hope you win at the end I really hope so. Good luck!
WOW! I am lucky as a few years ago I sold an Audemars Piguet watch for 7200...went through smoothly but i was nervous. Will never put an expensive item with ebay after hearing your story. I did have a guy trying to scam me but listened to my gut...Your gut was 100% correct from the beginning.
Good question. I didn't know you could intercept packages. You know, now that I am aware of this, I have little interest in BUYING from Ebay. This is unconscionable. I hope this works out in your favor.
If you lose the disputes, take your money and bank account out of eBay so eBay then has to pay up. The credit card company can't take the money directly from you. Put it in eBay's court and THEY can actually care about this and go after the buyer.
I saw another seller's video on this same thing. She wrote a letter to her local police and the police department where the fraud occurred. She had to report to both her local police and the state where the fraud occurred. The local police would give the report and evidence to the police department where the fraud occurred. It makes sense that the local police won't choose to or be able to do much so not shocked your local police gave you that response. Not sure if you revisited it, but I would've made a report with your local in Alabama and then had them forward that report and any photos or evidence to the local police in the state where the fraud occurred and then they would take over the investigation. Also, not shocked USPS didn't help; you can report the fraud but they only gather the info basically for nothing at this point.
I've heard of other sellers getting their money back by following these steps. 1) File an IC3 report. 2) File a report with your local PD. They won't do anything, but they will give you a file number. 3) File a report with the scammer's local PD, and give them your local PD's file number. 4) File a fraud case with the USPS. 5) Contact the PA Atty General's office to see what they can do. In all those reports, make sure you indicate the total scammed, $7200. Then send copies of all those reports, along with links to your YT videos to Ebay. The other sellers that said they did this, all had the same result: Ebay decided to refund you from their pocket as a gesture of good-will. It's BS, they just don't like the bad publicity.
As a seller for 18 years on Ebay most fraudulent returns in my experience are in categories with man-children (sports cards, video games and computer hardware). If your margins are slim and these are your main categories then I feel for you, but if you do Ebay as a business I suggest spreading out into other categories that avoid these people. I would never quit as others post they do, that's basically letting yourself be defeated by someone else.
I agree with this. I would also put cell phones in this category. I've sold 8 phones from 2010-2015 4 were flawless. 2 were outright fraud. 2 were soft fraud "this is wrong with it I want this off" didn't fight it just gave in because of how ebay was. 1 of the full fraud cases I won. 1 I lost. Nervous now I got a few cards I need to sell lol. I don't think it would help but when I sell these I'm videoing the process a to z
For high end items, what I do is record everything from when I package the item and drop it off at USPS, UPS, etc in one take. Pain in the ass but now I have solid proof when I sue the scammer.
Just dealt with my first eBay buyer fraud. Not nearly as expensive of an item as yours, but still incredibly upsetting as I’m now out a good chunk of money. I’ve heard about this happening and heard that eBay always sides with the buyer, but what blows my mind is the lack of resources available to sellers. Not only is it difficult to go through the dispute process, but after having this happen I also discovered that eBay does not allow you to leave negative feedback on the fraudulent buyer. What kind of garbage system is that?
I totally agree- the sellers on eBay get no support. I sold an item to a person, their profile said they lived in Peru, the address eBAy gave me at the close of the sale was Miami Fl., the moment I put in the tracking number, they buyer messaged me saying- why did you mail it to Miami? I live in JAcksonville?? I new I was scammed, item gone!!!
Wow! Sorry to hear this. I bought and sold $20,000 items on eBay and thought they would cover me. After watching this, no way I will risk selling high tickets.
I won’t sell anything online anymore. I was never a reseller but did used to sell my old clothing/car parts/etc when I was done with them. Then the scammers started popping up. The final straw was when I had someone contest an old Nike jacket I sold for $20. I googled the address the jacket was shipped to, the buyers name matched the homeowners info I found online. So it got delivered to the house/person/cardholder who bought it. They just said they didn’t authorize the purchase. Straight scamming for a jacket (that was $100 new) that I sold for $20. I just throw everything away or give it to Goodwill at this point.
Wow I just saw your story. I’m a top seller with eBay and I have not experienced fraud at this level. I do make my own goods with my own label so that must make some difference. I hear stories from other sellers who get returns with the item being switched and returned. I have heard that such a thing is mail fraud and to file with USPS but who knows what goes on there. I have wondered if sellers could protect themselves by making sure that serial #’s are in the photos and to go beyond that create a stamp with a UV dye and mark goods before shipping which can’t be seen with a naked eye. I certainly don’t blame you for being done with high end products with eBay and they certainly need to get this cleaned up for sellers. Intercepting mail is something I have done with a couple of orders with Amazon and it is a good option. Glad to hear that eBay let you kept the money and it is concerning that the credit card company did not want to pursue this. It sounds like the buyer has experience committing fraud and knows what to do. I hope that other eBay sellers can listen to what you went through and be more cautious!
Omg... So so sorry you're having to deal with this. Just when I think I can't be surprised by the depths some will dink to just to scam folks. I really do not understand their mindset I'm a buyer, bought pack of Mars chocolate celebrations. Not a huge purchase (I'm in the UK). The chocolates arrived, all was good. Never gave it a second thought until eBay messaged to say they fully refunded me for the item... I was so confused. So went to my purchases and the seller I think deleted or removed their account after selling a few of their things.. not sure but their account was no longer. So can only assume eBay assumed the seller was a scammer and refunded me. I contacted eBay and told them I'd received my item so not sure why I got the refund and to please reverse it. They said there's nothing they could do now.... I was dumbfounded! I went into my paypal and contacted the seller via the email in the transaction to say I wanted to send them the payment again and what had happened and sent them screenshots and to confirm this was the email i could send the payment to.. They confirmed yes so sent it under the "friends/family" so they didn't have fees... I didn't hear back from the seller after I paid or even get a thank you... Yes it was only £3.50 and if it were me I would said thank you to the buyer... but still, karma and conscience. Glad I did the right thing
I have been buying from eBay for years and selling occasionally. Even amongst those handful of times I sold items I was scammed. It left such a bad taste that I don't even buy from eBay any more.
Tip, Once the police gives you a police report then you should have file a case in court and make them come to your state to settle this case, also make sure you bring all your proof. This happened to somone before and they were on Judge Judy show and not only did the buyer lose but they were also looking at charges of actual mail fraud againist them because they have done this alot to other sellers. Report their address to USPS for fraud, report them to the police, put their address with all law enforcement because they are trying to crack down on these people.
I've been scammed by sellers using sham tracking that isn't posted to designated shipping address.
Exactly. They seem to forget who pays their wages. WE DO!!!
That happened to me also, but eBay gave me a full refund. @YinWhoo-zx2sz
their mindset is if there aren't any buyers, there aren't any sales and therefore there aren't any fees.
Sure will! Big ole buncha buffoons!
This 100% I’ve had it happen so many times

I totally understand as a seller I don't get how eBay don't even allow sellers to leave negative feedbacks to buyers, but buyers can leave negative feedbacks. Good luck on the case.
Yes this needs to be fixed for sure!
@@MoneyHungryPicker I started selling in 2010 and it was something sellers on the forums used to bitch about being removed. So they apparently had it in thepast and removed it. Dicks.
Yup. No actually seller protection at All.
One of my biggest pet peeves on ebay.
and most of the negative feedbacks don't have any actual justifications. When you request ebay to help remove those feedbacks, they just deny your request.
I have been an eBay power Seller for over 20 years...
Sorry to hear about your experience.
I have only run into a few of these people over the last 2 decades.
The only way to protect yourself from most of the Scammers
is to sell low priced merchandise. Once you get into higher priced
items you open yourself up to these individuals. Most of the scammers
won't waste their time on items costing $15 or $20.
If I do sell something in the $500 range, include in the listing you will not
sell to anyone with less than 25 feedback. If someone tries to buy it with
no feedback I immediately cancel the order and block them.
It is sad you have to do this to protect yourself from Chargebacks.
can you put no refunds? Or there's still a way around it for a scammer to say "they didn't get the item".
@@shadows1235 You can but ebay return rules override yours.
Can't stand when people say they almost never get scammers. I'm only 140 sales in and just got my first scam empty box return. It happens a lot.
Ebay lets scammers scam people. Yet, they get away with it.
Sideing with scammers is encuraging money laundry, isnt it?
What you just said made a bell go off in my head..."that makes ebay themselves the scammers." Hmmmmm... after what I heard they did to that couple back East a few years ago... And they do literally control everything. How would we know? Just sayin'
That is exactly what I wrote before I saw your comment . EBay IS the scammer itself
@@user-gr3tg2yk6o-24_डफ़क This is also what I believe.
I just Googled what you said, OMG it is true!!!

This would be my approach. Clowns gotta learn the hard way in life
Glad to see you posted an update video, sorry that it still hasnt been resolved.

Thank you Wilson!
Honestly, I would have canceled the orders. Red flags from the start. No way I'm selling something that expensive to a 0 feedback buyer. Specifically because of this situation and how much eBay doesn't care for its sellers.
As a seller, is there any issues for canceling the orders? I mean, would it hurt the seller for canceling the orders, when you notice some red flags?
@MRV , personally I've never had any issues. About 1200 items sold and maybe 3 or 4 I've canceled.
and I’d say generally someone into those hobbies spending those amounts normally at least have accounts or even reputable feedback accounts.

Thanks for watching!

eBay into the vaulted card game now should be a conflict of interest for them to not prosecute this.
Wow thank you for taking the time to tell me what happened to you. Makes me feel better that my situation will be decided in my favor! Thank you 🙏

Exactly why I don't sell high $ items on eBay. Most of my sales are under $50, so if the deal goes south I'm not out a bunch of money.
Yes, you can be scammed both ways. It’s kind of sad, really.
Thank you 🙏
Maybe as eBay sellers we need to start a movement contacting our senators/congressmen and require a law to put a stop this blatant theft. There needs to be a law to require credit card companies to stop allowing this type of fraud.
Yes! This definitely needs to be done! I was shocked that nobody I called was interested in pursing these criminals!
I'm invested heavily now. Following to see what happens. I hope you end up suing them or something man. Best of luck
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your story. Hopefully things resolve in your favor. So sorry…
Thank you Judy!
I sold 600 pairs of New balance shoes all over the world. I recorded every single packing and sealing every shoe. It save my butt every time. A couple people tried that too. It's sad that this is not have criminals held accountable. It's getting more and more on stolen CREDIT CARDS. GOOD VIDEO. NEAL
Thank you 🙏
Should have just trusted your instincts from the jump that it was fraudulent activity.
Good, I was thinking you should contact the police on that. That is what they are there for. Good for you! What they did was a crime.
Very sorry to hear, REALLY HOPE EBAY WAKES UP
thats like saying you hope your gf who cheats on u all the time just stops cheating out of the blue lol
@@matthewthacker3683 Yes, we can always hope people turn their lives around and improves.
I'm so glad it worked out for you. That's a lot of money to lose to scammers or anyone period! I wish resellers had a way to alert each other to con artists. Can't leave them negative feedback. smh
I am not a fan of sports cards but you got my sub, support and I will keep watching in hopes eBay grows a backbone to fight for you!
Sorry you're going through this. Hope it works out in your favor. I left Ebay about 4 years ago after selling for 6 years.
Thank you 🙏
Damn, sorry man its shitty for a person to do that honestly. If they opened a dispute on their bank card, would they not have to open 9 different disputes/chargebacks since they paid 9 different times? I don't see why the bank would not look at them and see that there is something fishy. I hope you win at the end I really hope so. Good luck!
Yes! They opened 9 different chargeback disputes. I hope that shows the credit card company they are scammers!
WOW! I am lucky as a few years ago I sold an Audemars Piguet watch for 7200...went through smoothly but i was nervous. Will never put an expensive item with ebay after hearing your story. I did have a guy trying to scam me but listened to my gut...Your gut was 100% correct from the beginning.
Its a shame that ebay has the control of the second hand selling online market. They basivally get away with not having to care about the seller.
Good question. I didn't know you could intercept packages. You know, now that I am aware of this, I have little interest in BUYING from Ebay. This is unconscionable. I hope this works out in your favor.
Thank you Allison!
If you lose the disputes, take your money and bank account out of eBay so eBay then has to pay up. The credit card company can't take the money directly from you. Put it in eBay's court and THEY can actually care about this and go after the buyer.
thats what i did
I saw another seller's video on this same thing.
I’m telling you that in the end you will get your money back.
Thank you Thomas I hope so! 🙏
Exactly!
Wow so sad you have to deal with criminals messing it up for everyone!
File the local police report to document the crime officially. Might be useful with cc company and ebay.
I am sorry you are going through this. when i sell on eBay I will not sell to anyone with "0" or negative feedback
As a ebay seller this is exactly why I don't sell nothing over $100. I really hope you get to keep the money.
Thank you 🙏
Omg... So so sorry you're having to deal with this. Just when I think I can't be surprised by the depths some will dink to just to scam folks. I really do not understand their mindset
I'm a buyer, bought pack of Mars chocolate celebrations.
Wow thank you for sharing!
This makes you a good person
you don't have to sell to people with zero feedback. you just have to put filters in your store for anything over a certain amount
eBay took that feature away. You can no longer no sell to zero feedback buyers
