Well as the song is all about fragility of life and how your best and worst moments in life are only small pieces of your lifetime you can not just stop or reverse as you wish, the blindfolds represent the feeling we all have when moving through time - you simply don't know what happens the next second, literally a "blind flight".
I didn't consider the blindness of moving forward through time. That makes so much sense now

The scene with armymen turning into young boys and into babies later, as I guess, depicts the one simple idea: all the fighters dying on wars sometimes were kids. But somehow they turned out to become soldiers.
That's what always bothers me personally: how do we, all just kids at the beginning, playing with toys, having fun, going to school, etc., then become the soldiers, the monsters killing other people -- those who we don't even know typically.
And the video shows this way (in reverse) -- from babies to armymen and to their death.
The scene with birth giving -- again, about connection of birth and death. You know how they say: when someone comes into the world in one place, there's always someone who dies at the very same moment somewhere else. There's time for everything.
Time does not care. Time does not stop, for anything or anyone. Time is merciless. We as humans either do our best with the time given to us, or we'll get consumed by it.
Beautiful song and video is a masterpiece it gives you goosebumps. Just shows you how time and life are precious and short, well done Rammestein.
Life and death is beholden to the sands of time. That's what I get from this phenomenal video. Rammstein have become the best band ever.

This song is perfect. From beginning to end. The video just piles on.
Another thing that came to my mind about the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense?

The "creatures" are "The Norns". The 3 female Norns (named: Urd, Verdandi and Skuld) are deities in Norse, Germanic mythology who are responsible for shaping human destiny (past, present and future ). They keep the time ticking.
Saw them live this year in denmark, and had the luck that they played this song! As he likes to do, Till changed one line, which was _ein Jeder kennt, den perfekten Moment (everyone knows the perfect moment)_ into _ihr alle kennt, den perfekten Moment (you all know the perfect moment)._

The blindfolds.
My take is that they are referring to the line "We can see, but we are blind", or "We can see (literally, through our eyes) but we can't see (predict) the end of our lives".
And I think the blindfolds during the (un!)births indicate that this blindness begins right at the beginning of everyone's life, and remains with us.
Just my take though so I may be completely off :D

In the video, the Rammstein members permanently try to stop time until the day before they are born, contrary to the lyrics of the song, which say that you can't stop time and that you should enjoy the moment.
Until then the video runs backwards

The 3 timekeepers shown in the video are surely meant to represent the past, present and future.
The last second of the video where you were a bit scared is supposed to be the first breath of a newborn human being.
The blindfold is supposed to symbolise that we all permanently repress our own death or that there is nothing there before or after death and that we cannot see anything.
On the other hand, the blindfold was useful during the video shoot because it protected the eyes from the grains of sand.
He mean the time of life.

Rammstein is an awesome band and first German band I got into! I will admit I can’t speak let alone understand what they are saying and I am pure Canadian been listening to german music since 1997, first album was Rammstein Sehnsuct then came their first release Herzelied.
Superb reaction. I love your voice and how you talk about it while you think about the meaning of the song. Lovely to watch. But in the end is showing us one single moment in time. And how it can disappear forever. The girl or the woman disappears into time.
and all that's left is the memory of her. That's why memories are the best thing in life.

The black figures are absolutely terrifiying! If I was that thing in my bedroom, I would jump out of the window!
This song was written during covid lockdown, when we all were contemplating our own mortality...maybe longing for more time.
Most ppl thing the black cloaked figure is a Timekeeper, and I don't disagree, but I feel like Time is being represented as The Grim Reaper...who has the power to either give or take away our time.
A powerful video, and beautiful song! I can't wait to hear what else they have for us on their new album, due out late April!

I very much can relate...my mom is 86, and I only have 1 sibling, and older sister who is terminally ill. I am constantly thinking about past memories, present care-taking under difficult circumstances, and future...I will be completely alone, as I am not married and have no children. It's deep stuff!

To hear Rammstein do a ballad type of song is surprising, and not something I would expect them to write. But I do like it, both the softer and heavier parts. I also found the birth sequence too graphic but still consider the video highly artistic.
They actually do a lot of ballads. "Ohne dich" or "Mein Herz Brennt" and "Rosenrot" to name a few. Their Ballads are all Top Class!
10:26 The shape of the whole picture is a sand clock but on the other side blind women give birth mean that we can't predict the future of the newborns, and their clock starts ticking from the moment of birth. We don't know what gonna happen to them, only time will show. Just my own explanation.

they are all blindfoldet, because we dont know, what time we have to go through and when our time will finish, i would call it art the lyrics in combination with the video

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.
The crazy thing about time is that everyone perceives it differently and everyone has experienced time at different speeds.
When you are bored it almost stands still, when you are busy it passes almost unnoticed, when you experience something beautiful it races with full speed and when you inhabit something negative you can remember it in such detail, as if that moment had stopped time for a moment.
@@CavHDeu absolutely agree...its strange how it seems to feel that way? Remember back in like grade school? How the last class seemed the longest... that last hour or so seem to take longer and everytime you looked at the clock it seemed like it barely even moved.. Same as when your a working adult...how a week of school and/or work seem long especially when your stressed or things aren't going so great m..but go on vacation for a week and before you know it your back in school and/or work.

For me it was always the first class of the day, because I'm an 'owl' and for me it's easier to stay awake till 2am than getting up at 7am.
Body rhythm is also time related, but in this case it is a fixture without any variation or a different sense of time.
Please watch or hear the song in different moods, because this song is able to emphasize your current emotional state. I haven't experienced anything like this before with a song.

I`m german, living in Hannover and trust me: germans too! We have to oversleep any nights to understand the "ghost" of Rammstein lyrics and videos, it`s not even the same.
This one, I`ve got 8 or 10 times day for day and the meanings seems to be stackable right now...
Don`t forget, Till Lindemann is now 59 years old! His life experience is much more than the most of their fans have or ever will have, sry just fact.
So, I think everyone should build his own story about this song or video, but everyone whatever his actual age will catch it just positive.

Time goes reverse in this Video. From death until birth. And even beyond birth. Their soul rise in the Sand of the big sandclock. And the scenes from the last centuray? The men on the field must be from 20 century or even older. Their time goes forward not reverse. So this little girl dying maybe her soul got a rebirth in the future?
The blindfolds might have some special symbolism but personally I think it's because no one wants to deal with the health and safety issues if someone gets sand in their eyes!

While i watch this video, i think about the women that bring their children to world while a war (sorry for perhaps bad english) They sure would be happy to move the birthday to a moment when war stopped.
