I always find it funny how people get "offended" or "disgusted" by literally the most normal process in the world like giving birth. Shows how weird our society is, censoring this kind of imagery most of the time!
Just thinking the same thing. Something that each and every one of us came from....
Yes, let's be honest, people see depravation nearly everyday on TV or internet trough "music" videos that aren't nearly as good as this one and still see this natural and normal process as a shock 🤣

This is one of my favorite songs. I saw them live for the first time 5 days ago. I waited 15 year for the pleasure to see them live. They did not disappoint. 🤘🏼
The "creatures" are "The Norns". The 3 female Norns (named: Urd, Verdandi and Skuld) are deities in Norse, Germanic mythology who are responsible for shaping human destiny (past, present and future ). They keep the time ticking.

Rammstein has started as a art project and they kept it more an art project than music band. I love them for it. Nearly 30 (founded 1994) years of awesome videos and music songs.
This song is a plea at time to stand still. Something everybody experiences in ones life (the perfect moment). Something never been granted to anyone.

I watched something about them without on VH1 or MTV. They were referring to the band as the 'Project' still. It always makes me chuckle that despite appearances their mannerisms are just so sophisticated.
Early Rammstein would be insulted when you called them art. They are protest shock punk in the purest form. They went Art style only since their success (2005+) and have enough money to make for this videos (and grow older). The birth scene is the last part of this shock punk thats still alive.

"Die alive to death" really isn't a good translation. More fitting would be "Dying living into death"
would've translated "bitte bleib stehen" with "please stand still" instead of "please stop" just for prettier wording.

Zeit is a masterpiece of Rammstein !!! IT shows that we only a little part in the river of time. We are born to die,so we have to enjoy every moment we have !!!
Another thing that came to my the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense?

Music and lyrics match fantastically, as always with Rammstein videos. And the production efforts! Well, top of the top! For non-German speakers, even for, it's often not quit easy to grasp the intensions Rammstein has. For me, a German Rammstein fan, one of the most beautiful and tear dropping songs and videos ever!
Zeit (time) is already an iconic song (in my humble opinion). The song is about that time is stopping for nobody, although everybody during their lifetime is wishing they could stop at an (or more) particular moment, but it is not possible, because time stops for no one, as hard as one wished to, it never stops..

Those dark characters are (probably) the 3 Norns, three women of destiny are mentioned by name: They are called Urd (fate), Verdandi (the becoming) and Skuld (guilt; that which is to be). Their names are considered Nordic equivalents of common medieval concepts of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld).
You see them also at the beginning of Wagners "Götterdämmerung".

If you don't understand German, it's best to get a translation. Rammstein's lyrics are very strong and deep.
Rammstein has an internal policy that they dont release an song/video unless ALL the band members agree with the project. This video hits hard - especially with whats going on in the world in the name of Russia. I love Rammstein so much and they made their official statement not only with their statement on Facebook but also I think with this song.

For the most Rammstein songs you only get the half experience without understanding the lyrics.
Even when you get a translation its hard, because Till is for sure one of the greatest poetry song writer in popular music.
By writing, be in context and fine nuanced pronouncing.
Also there are a lot of doublemeaning words in german language.
Like the song title "Du hast", that means "you have" but also "you hate".
Waiting for the next Rammstein Video, lyrics incliuded.

IMHO, if you choose Mein Hertz Brent or Deutschland the official videos are the best. Others that are excellent are Sonne (Rock im Park), Engel (Madison Square Gardens), Du Hast (Live in Paris), Rammlied, Benzin, Weiss ist Fleiss, and Ich Tu Dir Weh (all at Madison Square Gardens). They put on the best live shows bar none.

The Norne of the past is named Urd (the destiny). The Norne of the present is Verdandi (that what is now and what will be in the next moment). The Norne of the future is Skuld (that what will grow out of the past and the always changing moments). The Nornes spin the rope of life. They decide where the rope begins and where it ends. In Germany we still say „life hangs at a thin rope“ when things are getting dangerous or somebody is really hurt or sick. The Nornes are no gods. They just represent the time of a life. People can‘t influence time and a lot of things that happens. The life of everyone is created by the Nornes what means by the time. And we all sitting in the same boat mightless in the sands of time. This is the credo of this song.
Is it really a necessity to understand German? The title tells it all. The Video tells it all! Here, again, Music is combined with Art into perfection!!!! Rammstein seems to be flawless in this.

You think the best Rammstein is the Rammstein we experience at that time but their music and videos just keep getting better and better.

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.
The robed figures are Norns.
I recommend watching the subtitled versions.
