I love canning and have been doing it for 51 years. I’ve never canned my cherry tomatoes like that. I add a lot of them to my tomato sauce and it adds sweetness but not too much. I have 3 Black Cherry Tomato plants and I’m excited to see how they produce. Your tomatoes turned out beautiful.
Oh wow 51 years that's amazing. I hope to gain a lot of experience. I try out new recipes in my book help me learn. And omg you going to have enough cherry tomatoes to feed an army.
Awesome abundance! I love those oven pasta recipes where you add a block of feta to a dish with cherry tomatoes and roast them together until soft then add the pasta! I bet the cherry tomatoes you canned would work perfect for that!
Wow, fantastic harvest of black cherry tomatoes. I'm excited to do some canning this year, per my husband's request. I'm definitely gonna look into getting the canning book. Happy gardening and God bless! ☀️
Nice, yes, can it all! It really helps to make cooking meals a lot faster. And I love that book I've tried a few things out of it and it worked out nicely. Happy gardening!
This was an excellent way to preserve your abundance of cherry tomatoes. They look beautiful all jarred up. What brand of water bath canner do you have.
I always can my tomatoes as a sauce but really want to can some tomatoes that way this year too, they're so pretty as well. I also have a gas stove and get so scared when canning on it, I always feel like I'm going to crack the stove or something lol
You can do it! I was freaked out in the beginning too. I remember I keep checking on my Hubby for hours after the first time I fed him something home canned. He was like should we have eaten it 😆
Ball books are great! But if you dont have lots of money, ive gotten mine at 2nd hand bookstores. Many people buy them and decide its more work than thwy want to do.
I think I have the same water bath canner. You must have been up past 1am with how long it takes to boil. 😴 There's a new Ball book out, but it's hard to find so far. Quite a few changes in acid requirements to account for new strains of fruits and veggies.
@@TeamBensonHomestead Thank you for replying! I have never canned before so rookie here 😁 That's amazing how long it will stay good. Soon will try to begin canning and see if I can store food that way.
I make a really good pasta dish. I simmer them with garlic, herbs and the rin of a cheese wheel. And then add mushrooms and the pasta. Sometimes white wine.
That looked easy ,I've done before but i made the marinara sauce and i put my containers in dishwasher, lids in a pot boiling with water and i put the glass containers in the oven took them out put the sauce in closed them flipped them and they all popped after a while i use them in 4 to 6 months ,this year i will have a good harvest again i might try your way see how it goes ,i wonder how the pickles are done 😅
All that works too. I like using the boiling water because it heats up the jars while filling them. That way when you put them in the hot water they won't break.
Plant them in the fall and cover them up in the winter. I changed when I started mine and it made a world of a difference oh and you don't get hornworms. You will have your harvest before they really come out and the moth won't lay her eggs on a plant that is dying back already

I hope I get enough tomatoes to do some canning ❤, thanks about the tip of the lemon.
My fingers are crossed!! And yes lemon juice gives the dishes the perfect level of acidity
Enjoyed!!!
Thank you so much 💓
Slugs and storms have taken out all of my tomatoes and most of my peppers. I'm hoping the remaining peppers will bounce back.
Ohhhh no my fingers are crossed for you .

Great video.
Thank you 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video and thank you for sharing your skills! How long will it remain good for storage?
Thankso much for watching. I think it's always recommended to have it stored for 2 years but I have used it as much as 3 years old personally

Tiffany , do you can on your glass top stove or do you have a gas stove?

I’m in Glendale Az and have had much luck with tomatoes, but it’s only my second season… any tips?

Did you have to puncture your cherry tomatoes?
Hey I don't but if you watch any of my videos from like April you can see it in it's prime it was huge in my garden this year.
