I am Malaysian and i am happy to watch this video. May both of you are in a great health condition always. Terima kasih ❤️
Thank you
Wow!You both know stem cells saved my life.Excellent Lesson in Healthcare advocacy!!!
It's funny how you're the one other person I know to have received them and you received them for the one thing it's approved for in USA. Can't wait to see you and swap stories!
Extremely informative. Bravo. Keep up with the medical news from Malaysia.
thanks for sharing Malysia here i come ???
Awesome to hear about.
Thank you
#THE SINCERE REVIEW YOU GAVE IS OF SUCH A GREAT HELP
#THANKS FOR SHARING ❤❤❤
Excellent ! Had no idea about this possibility… thx for sharing!!
Thank you!
Thanks for this video. Very interesting. I hope your recovery continues to go well and you have many pain free years.
I hope so too
Get well with your knee
Speedy recovery. Take care 💕
Good info too. Thank you.
Thank you! You too!
hello good night, I wish you and your family good health, introduce me to a RUclipsr from Indonesia, I really like your video and would like to ask permission for your video reaction as an education to everyone so that more people will know about you and the quality of the hospital you are in it's in Malaysia. Thank you
We are happy to share our experiences with the wonderful medical care in Malaysia
thank you for sharing your experiences
No worries!
Thank for sharing & all the best as you grow new cartilage. Amazing solution!
Crossing my fingers
I wish you a complete and quick recovery. Stay healthy.
Thank you!
Thank you for the great info. We or I may have to cross this bridge someday (knee). Looking forward to update on how your knee is doing a few months from now! Wishing you a full recovery with exceeded expectations are the final results.
Thanks Jack. I've got my fingers crossed.
I really appreciate hearing about all your research and decisions you made. Fingers crossed you’ll be out hiking pain free very soon! 💜
I hope so too!
Malaysian bullshit stem cell therapy will cause serious side effects to the patients
Informative vid, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I really appreciate hearing your journey with stem cells... I have thought about it ever since watching the story of Mel Gibson's dad getting stem cells and totally feeling YOUNG again :) so while your story is different... it sounds very promising!
Thank you. It's not the fountain of youth, but it is a solution that's working for me.
Welcome to Malaysia. Enjoy your stay in Malaysia.
Thank you! 😃
Fantastic! I'll be curious to hear about the insurance reimbursement...but as you point out, the most important thing is you can get back to doing the stuff you love.
Yes, me too. We'll cross our fingers.
Sounds super Chris! So glad it’s been a great success. I had both knees replaced in CO, 3 years ago. Wish I’d had an option available for stem cells.
Yes, I'm so glad I found an option. We'll know in a few months if it was a good one.
I learned something from both of you. I am 54, so I am prepared.
I am so glad.
Bravo.
Wow, what a great option. Thank you for sharing. I also had a dislocating patella and had surgery at 20. Doctors now say 100% of patients who had my surgery (which they no longer do) end up with osteoarthritis and need replacements. My cartilage is failing. However, doctors don't want to do surgery until I'm older. I'm hanging in there - but at some point it will affect my quality of life (which includes hiking and biking) too much. The procedure you had could be a good solution for me too. Nice to know there are other options available and great to hear this procedure has an 80% efficacy rate. Keep up the healing. Glad to know you are on your way to pain-free hiking soon.
That's exactly why I went ahead with it; my quality of life has suffered because hiking (among other things) had become a chore. Even while I'm healing, I feel much better than before.
Hopefully both of you happy always stay in Malaysia
Thank you. We hope to be back soon
Glad you are on the road to recovery! Just so you know, it's arthroscopy (scoping of joints); this is done in dogs too and it costs about $5000-6000. Happy healing!
Good for the dogs!
Hiiii Chris and Steve from CO. I just love this video and your journey! Medical tourism is booming and hearing your experience with medical investigation for your procedure is amazing and promising.
My daughter had a type of stem cell here in CO. They harvested her cells (so different than your procedure ), PT and so on.
This was pre C19...so maybe in 2018 or 2019. She has had great success like yourself. So much so that I may investigate as I am toooooo familiar with that sudden POP sound from sprinting in 2022😮😢. Of course (as you mentioned) not covered on insurance for my daughter which was a big bummer but she is soooooo happy now.
Everyone in the office was quite curious to see a 30ish year old as it appeared the average age of the patients was 60+.😂
Glad to see you are mostly healed up and doing well!🎉🎉🎉
Journey on dear one.❤
Oh, so glad she could get the treatment! Hope it works for you as well DeeDee
It would be great if you included a video of the situation at the hospitals so viewers have an idea what the hospitals are like 😊
Thanks. It's a bit difficult to film medical situations because the hospitals often don't want their staff on film.
Good review
thank you
Very interesting video. I am sure I will need knee replacement one day, but like you I feel I'm way too young. Best of luck to you!
When you're ready, I hope there are lots of options for you.
Pantai means beach.. but in your case Pantai Medical Center is named after the location of the hospital which is Pantai Baharu
thanks
Very interesting. Thanks for the report. Are you optimistic about future hiking?
Totally. Planning Kumano Kodo in April!
Did you know that some of the charges like dr consultation, surgery and anaes fee are controlled under 13th schedule of fees (a law govern in Malaysia for private healthcare). It is more strictly adhere when one is using insurance issued in Malaysia. Whereas basic price of pharmaceutical drugs are also govern with marketing price cannot be too high or too low.
thank you
@@EatWalkLearn you are welcome. Stem cells are not widely FDA approved, thus insurance in Malaysia do not pay for it. Including fresh frozen plasma injection for knee condition. Same goes with some of viscosupplement. But the Orthopaedic in Malaysia are quite good.
Great to hear your story. Inspiring to say the least. Please how can members contact you for zoom consultation? Thanks.
Thank you for your comments. You can email us at eatwalklearn@gmail.com with any additional questions.
Please share your doctor's name, if you would please. And keep us informed of your progress. I am bone on bone and am in a similar situation. Thank you.
All the info is in the description.
Glad to hear the procedure was successful. Did you ever get a quote for a total knee replacement?
Yes, it was about 8500 RM
@@EatWalkLearn Wowza!!! That's approx $ 2,000 USD! Got a quote recently here in PI for $10-12.5K, without PT.
@@shanewatson8298 I'm sorry. I gave you the wrong number. 30000 rm is correct
@@EatWalkLearn Thanks for the correction. $7K USD does seem more realistic.
Does the Malaysia Hospital do just regular stem cell for aging patients that have problem with arthritis? Do you have address or website of the Malaysian hospital or doctor so we can write and ask questions? Happy for you that you found the right solution on your health issue.
I don't know. The contact info is in the description. Good luck.
Get well soon🙏
The total medical bill that you mentioned, is that in USD or Malaysian Ringgit?
Enjoyed watching your videos ❤👍
I think usd mate. It is not logical for 8k ringgit.
Total for the surgery was $5600 or about 25000rm. Stem cells were $2500
Hi... How was your knee? Anxious to know on the updates.
Knee is doing great thanks! I feel super.
Hi Chris and Steve, I enjoy watching yr traveling exp, I am living in Prague, Czech republic and I have a knee problem same as Chris and considering travel to KL to follow Chris experience 11:20 , will you be so kind to let me know the name of your surgeon in Pantai hospital who did your surgery, thank you very much Miro
Yes, sorry to hear about your troubles. Dr Ashraff at Pantai.
Very interesting….I am in a similar situation where I have no cartilage at all, bone on bone and osteoarthritis. My specialist surgeon says I need a knee replacement but wants me to hold out till 55 (I’m 53 now). Im Hoping to get the surgery this year as we start our full time traveling in April next year which will give me time to recover. I’ve too had the hyaluronic acid injection which did nothing except lighten my purse and cortisone injection only lasted a couple of weeks. Im wondering if stem cell surgery could be an option for me too? I’ll note down what you had and ask if it’s an option with my surgeon as I am starting to cause wear and pain in my hips from hobbling around from my knee pain.
I wish you all the best for your recovery and hope you get long pain relief from it.
exactly my situation, Annette. Exactly. I don't think you'll get far in the US asking about stem cell therapy, but please let me know if you do. Now I'm in a wait and see for the next few months. But eventhough I'm not finished yet, I feel 100% better than before surgery
@@EatWalkLearn I live in Australia, I have heard of it and know it’s used here but don’t know much about it and my surgeon didn’t give me the option but I’ll certainly ask on my next visit to him.
Thanks for the video!
How are you feeling now?
I have a medial meniscus tear, and would like to know if just the stem cell injection could help the healing process.
Would you mind giving me the name of your doctor, please? I could not find it in the video description.
Thanks.
I don't know what the answer would be (I'm not a doctor :-)), but the stem cells have certainly helped me. Dr. Ashraff at Pentai Hospital.
@@EatWalkLearn Thank you very much. I'm so glad your knee is feeling better!
Hello ... I was wonder how is your knee now, I am trying to see if that is an option for me , hope to hear from you..
It's doing great. We have an update coming out this Thursday. Watch for it
Dear, i am very interested in stem cell for knee after seeing your successful case. How long do you have to stay in Malaysia to do PT? Thanks for your response. I subscribed your ytube to follow your travel advise. Thanks again.
Thanks for subscribing. I was in the hospital for 3 days, and I did PT for a few weeks. You can do the PT anywhere.
Would love to know how your knee is going, hope all is well to date
Thanks for asking. It's doing great. i'm at about 90% of my left knee, so I feel like it's a win-win. Couldn't be happier.
@@EatWalkLearn Thanks for the update hope it continues to improve
Hi Chris. Wonder if you can give us an update on whether IMG reimbursed you for the surgery costs.
Yes, they reimbursed me about $3000 and I'm hoping for a bit more on an appeal.
Wow that's a surprise
What was the insurance that you had?
Hi, are you required to have medical insurance ? which provider ? local or international ? Did they cover your surgery ? thanks
No, we aren't required to have it; we have it for peace of mind. Take a look at our video in two weeks about our medical insurance, what it costs, and what it covers. Also, take a look at our video, "Medical Insurance for Nomads!
Hi I have a question
Regrow stem cell only last 5 to 10years
But replace a knee will last 20 year
So for any reason not to replace the knee? Thanks, I might have missed some point during the video
I'm too young. A new knee won't last long enough for my life span, so I "bought" time with the stem cells
Does anyone know if the knee is doing well a year later (from the stem cell surgery)? I also got this procedure done, but it was the embryonic stem cell surgery, and it was 10 years ago. So far I have held off having knee replacement but would love to learn more about this new type of stem cell surgery to see if it is a good option if/when needed.
A year later to the day, I'm doing great. I would do this all over again if I had too. At the way I feel now, I certainly think I've bought myself 5 years of time if not more.
Hey I am looking to do the same for my wrist. I was in a horrible accident and trying to avoid fusion at 33. Do you know if regional anesthesia is a choice
Did the insurance cover it? I believe my procedure will be 25k so it would be great of it’s covered
I do not know, sorry. Good luck with your wrist
Do they do stem cell therapy on the lumbar spine?
Sorry, we can't answer that question.
Can you share the name of the Dr that you consulted in Pantai Hospital please?
Dr Ashraff
So one went to Pantai, one went to Prince Court.
both are good!
@@EatWalkLearn read in the news that the food in Prince Court is so good that the public goes to eat the briyani. So the hospital is more than just medical!
Hi, may I know which Doctor in Pantai Hospital?
All the info is in the description.
Hi and thanks for the informative video. I will be in Penang for five weeks in July and have similar knee issues to you. I have emailed Dr Ashraff's office on your recommendation, to see if he ever works in Penang. Fingers crossed. If not, it would be immensely useful for me if you could tell me the exact medical name of the procedure you had, so that I can ask if anyone there does it. Would you mind sharing that with me please? I don't want to ask them for a "knee stem cell thingy", LOL. How is your knee now please? Do you still recommend this proceedure?
I do not think he practices in Penang. I had orthoscopic surgery to repair remove damage cartilage, micro fractures on my femur, stem cell therapy (chrondofiller) for my knee.
I’m very happy to have found your video. I have had stem cells in my hip and need more. I like the idea of what your doctor did in your knee. Do you have the dr’s name and contact number as I’d like to talk with him? Good luck with your healing.
May I ask for the contact information of the hospital?
Yes, it's in the description. Dr Ashraff at Pantai.
could you not have skip the scope and just do the injection of the stem cell?
Well, everyone is different. Possible. But I had some damage to the end of my thigh bones that needed to be repaired with the scope.
Can someone tell me the name of the hospital please 🙏
Pantai Hospital
Please tell me the name of the doctor
@@fardowsocabdullahi9175 Dr Ashraff
Thanks❤
Given how little you think of the United States, why don't you give up your citizenship?
I don't think we ever said anything about not liking the US. We don't like the health care situation, but we still love the US
Are you telling me that health care is better in Malaysia than in the United States?!?
@@cherylkoski7184 I'm telling you that the surgery I had in Malaysia was affordable and offered something I couldn't get in the US
@@cherylkoski7184malaysia is one the best tourism healthcare countries in the world. Not just US but Europeans and U.K. also comes here to do the procedures.
Who are you to say that to anybody. Like they would ever take your advice if that's what it was. No I think it was angry spewing. I hope you have a good day, you need it.
