@@BRAINFxck10so less expensive? I get that people prefer tactile buttons and knobs, I do as well. Just seems like “cheaper” isn’t the term to necessarily use without that additional context on complaints for the UI.
Maybe Mark was referring to this particular interior colour / materials choice of black / orange? Certainly not my choice for a Bentley, each to their own though of course. In terms of quality of materials though I really don't know how anyone could seriously consider a top end Mercedes 'nicer' than any current Bentley, every conceivable part of the interior from the leather, the wood / metal finishes, the carpets, the switch gear, the plastics (some Mercedes plastics even in an S Class or an SL are very cheap and brittle feeling), plus some of the Bentley touches like the knurled switches and metal vents with trumpet stops are of a level of quality unmatched by any car maker other than perhaps Rolls Royce (I've never had first hand experience of a Bugatti so couldn't comment on those!). The only thing I'll concede to Mercedes is the quality of the graphics etc on their latest infotainment systems, their arguably 'nicer' than the Bentley - but thank God the Bentley doesn't have that horrible tacky tasteless pointless tablet stuck on the centre console, give me the revolving screen which I can hide from view any time! Also, in my experience even the top end Mercedes interiors rattle or squeak here and there and the dealers can never satisfactorily eradicate these minor irritations, something which was virtually unheard of in the 80s and 90s with Mercedes of that era. The Bentley interior doesn't rattle or squeak AT All, EVER, and is so solidly put together and with such exquisite materials it feels like it's hewn from granite.
I've owned several S-class of various generations, loved them all, and took a new S-class for a test drive recently. It's a really great car, but let down by it's interior, which feels cheap and superficially cosmetic. Bentleys have quality in depth, and their exquisite interiors are positive reasons to own. Granted I didn't like the material choices in the test car, but others are so good. I've been a great fan of Autocar for a very long time, but please - open your eyes!
A Mercedes interior is nicer ??? Top car reviewers (Mat , Doug , AutoTopNL , etc.) stated that the Bentley Flying Spur has the best interior design in the entire automotive industry and in terms of quality … 2nd place after Rolls and I agree with those guys !
Agree. The general consensus is at least some physical switchgear is actually the best solution and every other Autocar reviewer hates screens. Then this guy comes on and says it looks old compared to all touch screens!

Glad they kept the old front end. The Continental still looks great - even at the front - but I prefer the twin light arrangement and how the bodywork curves around them. Fantastic looking car! But it's fairly subjective - I can see how others prefer the new look.
I’m more of a, the more chrome, the better kind of guy, but this black you have gone with this bright orange, looks amazing. It reminds me of Halloween, which I love and my kids love. So very impressive.
A dated interior? Please. Mercedes haven't moved the game on, they've lost the quality, craftsmanship and ease of use you associate with a luxury interior. Just look at what Aston Martin are doing, buttons are back in premium products and so they should be.
770bhp isn't massive these days considering this car costs £226K. Many of the new EVs in China have over or near 1000bhp and they cost less than half of this.
Is it a pre-requisite to work as an Autocar journalist that you either have to look weird, sound weird or both? I mean, seriously? Have you watched this video back?
I really like Bentley’s “Crystal” headlights. But what is this awful colour scheme with the orange and blacked out chrome. And on a Bentley luxury saloon too…nasty. As for a Merc S class having the nicer interior. Are you kidding!? It’s a video arcade in there! I’d rather have this Bentley, despite that colour scheme 😒
I guess that this car has lost its U.S.P. The market is saturated with quiet hybrid lumps.and when it comes to driving pleasure my partner’s Hyundai i20N, costing 25K when new, would ace this.
The average new Bentley customer has 9 other cars so I guess they have another vehicle if carrying lots of stuff is needed. Just need space for a few overnight bags, matching of course! And I’m not changing a 23 inch wheel myself! Even my car, I don’t have a.spare. I did get a massive split in my tyre. The breakdown support brought me a new wheel, fitted it, took away the other wheel then came to my house a few days later and swapped it all back!
Mercedes interiors aren't nicer they're literally an eye sore with cheap electronics, Bentley has nicer materials arranged in a timeless manner.
Cheap electronics?
@ALMX5DP made in china so of course.. that goes with everything else we are obligated to buy
@@neverobey1477is that different to the electronics in the Bentley?
@ALMX5DP its cheaper for Mercedes to mass produce screens than it is to build individual buttons with nice materials

'A top end Mercedes interior is just nicer'. I beg to differ.
Exactly! Giant screens and neon lights are NOT nicer, It's literally an eye sore.

@@nedcoburn6421 Because they have fewer parts and rely on screens the latest Mercedes interiors don't really rattle anymore.

A Mercedes interior is nicer? Huh 🤔. God awful review. Yikes. So robotic.
I miss u Jeremy. Save this show or at least this channel please.
Couldn’t agree more! This guy, yikes! Charisma vacuum. All I could look at in the end, were his braces. Reminded me of Jaws from a 70s Bond movie 😬
Where do autocar find these Energy Vampires 🧛♂️
exactly.. and aren't braces on teeth for 8 year olds ?
Colin Robinson returns !

Anything that’s painted in the same hue as a RAC recovery van can not be described as having “elegance and grace” and that’s for certain.
What a boring review 💤💤💤💤

I enjoyed watching the video review, a great location to film the video
I do believe that is Sedona - the place on earth where there is most confusion over how to use roundabouts!

Think it's Porsche V8 Panamera turbo SE , floorpan, engine and hybrid system.

His voice is too monotone. If I was driving a Bentley I would show some excitement. It's like he is reviewing a washing machine for consumer reports.

Put over 1300hp into this behemoth and now we’ll be talking 🫡
I always laugh at these videos, someone who can afford to buy this car, REALLY isn’t caring about fuel economy
Maybe they don't want to stop at service stations and mix with the rif raff?
Serial killer?
Epic colour how much
Bentley Flying Spur still Bentley that is should be :) love it

You are alone on that one. 99 percent would prefer the Bentley but each to their own.
Cool car 😊
People who buy cars like this do not pay for a compromised vehicle small boot +200kg... no spare =.unacceptable

😴 🥱
Mehh. Without 12 cylinders it is not good enough for an ulraluxury car. Raw power data is not everything, especially not in this segment.
Struggling ro believe those mpg numbers is that running on battery what is is after 30 miles.
I think without additional battery top ups it’ll get around 26-27mpg.
Lost me at "plug-in hybrid".........
