The audio quality really undermines what could otherwise be a great video. It’s been years of people saying this. It got better briefly last year but this one is really tough to listen to

probably didn't have the right mic setup, got too much road noise, tried to eliminate it and now the audio quality is degraded due to odd compression spikes etc. whoops.
Love the way how the driving is fast but still using finger tips to steer the car using the lavalina steering wheel.. The sound in my e46 B3S is pretty good. ❤
That stopped a little suddenly. As ever, Autocar videos lacking in a little polish. If one man bands like Jayemm can manage this , surly you can ? Had a couple of Alpinas ( B10 3.3 B10 V8s ) back in the early noughties. They were great mile munchers in those days and suitably different from the M cars ( had an E39 M5 before ). But now, with everything being adjustable, they are harder to justify. Sad to see them go but totally understand why....
A fabulous review of an equally fabulous vehicle. I shall scratch that Alpina itch one day, for sure. I've not heard/ seen this guy who's reviewing before; he's really good though. And don't worry about the sound quality, who on earth cares. These cars - & this one in particular - are sublime........and this is the last one.
Where is the glory of the Autocar's video of the past ? While the infos contained in the video are great, the video itself is not worthy of Autocar. And ALPINA.
I give up! I keep saying it every video that your sound is terrible, but even when you dumped the cheap Amazon mics for a proper lapel mic, it is clearly stuck in to the top of a Fisher Price 'My First Sound Recorder', as it is STILL just as bad (and this is clearly recognised by every other commenter here also!). Even the audio from my own motorbike review videos is better than this, and I have a microphone stuffed inside my helmet while torturing 1000cc race bikes - sort it out, for god sake!!

In fact, I see this often from so-called content creators. They’re so pleased with themselves, “4k!!!” yet the audio sounds like it was recorded on a garage sale cassette deck.
I know it's been mentioned, but my goodness, how did this even make YT with that sound quality? Some of the video was pretty poor too. Absolutely terrible.
On looks , torque , top speed.....Alpina over M4 all day everyday. ' Alpina Classic ' sounds like a great enterprise. Forget ev's.....that ship sailed and ran aground.
Unfortunately the life timing is wrong for me to get one. I really hope you are wrong about BMW just making it an exclusive trim line. Do you really think they are going to throw away Alpina's OEM status? The chance to do a new B5 without the battery or something like that as a separate low volume OEM they could do some great low volume cars without the 15k penalty or the numbers hindering their normal production
I've not had a car for many years but am looking for a wagon that's comfortable, not too loud but quick when needed. Perhaps Alpina have me covered. I'll go looking for one with ventilated seats, I'm a bit of a Viking.
The S58 in the M3 has a slightly higher rev limit and different boost map because the M Engineers wanted to provide a more naturally aspirated engine feeling. They did such a good job sometimes I forget my M3 Touring is turbocharged. If I could have a B3 GT I probably would have chosen one over the M3 purely because it is a better GT car. For someone considering both my advice is, if you have no intention on ever tracking your car, get an Alpina while you can. You won't miss the extra precision you get from the M3 on the road.
D3S Touring is the jewel in the crown. I am going to look out for one as my retirement car next year. Should be good for 10 years as ICE dies out in favour of EVs
I live Alpinas but the production quality on this video was terrible and just couldn’t watch it listen to it. My daughters TikTok’s have better sound and quality!
The presenter's audio literally sounds like he's phoning it in. Given that a lot of your videos are bone-dry anyway, this was harder to finish watching than Alpina estate review ought to be.
Great cars but I think the comment about Ferrari owners using them as their main car sums up the wealth bracket you must need to be in to run a 100k estate as your daily whip! I find these cars a strange proposition 90-100k for a car that is trying to be daily useable and exciting/ great to drive. Against splitting that 100k and putting it into a daily estate car that’s more economical and you wouldn’t mind filling full of crap to go the the tip the leaving it in a busy car park somewhere. Plus a dedicated 2 seater sports car for pure driving fun.
It seems to me that you no longer care what your loyal audience expects. How else can you explain that you ignore repeated criticism of the audio?! Is this sadism and punishment for our loyalty and the hope that this channel will continue to exist? Maybe it is your masochism because you are simply fed up but are not sure how to get rid of your audience? I'm sorry, I'm so irritated now that I have to think of the definition of stupidity - "repeating the same thing and expecting a different result." It's a real shame about this otherwise good and interesting contribution.

Waat a disgusting Sound of the commentator which hurts my ears and zero sound of this fantastic car which has Sound in Reality. And the technical data mentionned is wrong Alpina has completely revised the engine with new turbos, new exhausts, better cooling systems and completely revised electronic which is far better then the M3.
Wrong...this is the S58 engine like in the M3 / M4 - but ALPINA changes the air intake, intercooler, cooler and the turbos and the ecu setup that´s why they have more torque at lower rpm!!!
Learn something new every day. I think they used to use the non-M motors but sounds like for this most recent iteration yeah they’re using the S58. Pretty damn cool.
Mediocre review of a fantastic car. Were you given exclusive in this? Surely given it’s the very last proper Alpina you could have done better. I hope you are doing a full road test the car deserves it

I traded in my 2023 Alpina D3s Touring and will pick up my B3 GT Touring tomorrow. Alpinas are the best dailies money can buy.

The sound is like a video made by my 6 year old daughter. Very amateur I have to say.
It's really not acceptable in 2025 as a mainstream car channel to post a video where you have such poor audio quality.
