Get a mixed breed dog instead of a pure bred. They live a lot longer and have significantly less health problems along the way.

I wish my doggies lived 30 years, heck I’d take 20. They always leave us much too soon.
My cousin lived in New York and L.A. most of his life, but he had a lifelong love of wombats. He died of cancer 8 years ago, but not long before he died he was able to have a private visit to see the new baby wombats at the San Diego Zoo and it was like he had completed a lifelong wish.

@@Kado1609 wombats have a similar situation to hippos, they look pudgy but are made of pure muscle. they even have a plate of cartilage on their rear to help block their burrows from predators. they are that strong that if they take a hit from a small car on the rear they can be just fine.

It's the same relationship with animals in this house. She does all the disciplining, and I'm the one who crawls under tables with them, rolls about on the floor, and wrestles, and I'm the one they end up following around. Admittedly, it's dogs not wombats, but still.

That was pretty slick for Bronte to take the good guy role in their "good cop, bad cop" scenario. That makes Linda the disciplinarian whenever Wardoo gets into mischief, which sounds like a frequent occurrence.
You can't really discipline an animal like that. It breaks their trust in you. It's not like disciplining a dog or a cat. They're just being their natural selves and don't know they're doing anything wrong.

@BETHANY R Jimenez I do realize that wombats and human kids are (slightly) different. But, way back when I was a kid, the roles were reversed. Mom was soft-spoken, but would warn us, "Just wait til your father gets home."

Awesome work guys. I’ve rescued two wombats. But only one survived from roadkill accidents. I never had the expertise or knowledge on how to care for them. So passed them on to volunteers. But now I know what to do. So if I’m in the position again to help. I can.

He’s ADORABLE!!!! I live in the US, but was an exchange student to Adelaide, S. Australia 🇦🇺 when I was 16 years old… saw lots of these awesome guys in the wild! I remember my host family washed my clothes the 3rd day I was there, hung my bra out to dry outside in the sun…a sneaky little wombat came and snatched my bra off the drying rack and ran off with it!! So, a wombat out there somewhere has a piece of me with them!! Hahaha! Wanted one then, and I still want one today! Now more than ever!! Thanks so much for looking after him!! ❤️❤️❤️

Yes these owners seem like they own a ranch of some kind since they have a lot of open space and what seems like other outside animals. So he will have a very good life eating couches and running around

So, no we cannot assume that everyone is bright enough or unselfish enough to know that wombats are wild animals and should absolutely not be kept as pets. 🙄

If Wardoo lives for 30 years in the wild he may live longer in captivity. He may outlive some of his rescuers. So for those who love him he'll be around for a long time to come, at least twice as long as a dog or a cat. That is a blessing.

also some may or may not know how bad any type of bag of food is for animals as opposed to how they naturally eat in the wild. Of course being in the wild brings on the challenge of there being enough food & surviving other predators. Damned if you do, . . lol
I've seen videos of "parrot families," where the original owner has passed and other family members step in to give the bird familiar caregivers thru his long life.
