There was an Italian restaurant that used to keep their scraps until they were closing. We were leaving late one evening and saw cars watching the rear of the parking lot. There were raccoons and cats lined up across the bank. The raccoon in charge was passing food along the line. Each waited patiently for their share. The had spaghetti, raviolis, bread, and salad to share. The cats were handed their food by the raccoons. The cutest thing ever! They shared strands of spaghetti and the raccoons holding the food in their little hands! Something I will never forget!
We actually used to do this as kids back home. After each meal, the cats and the crows would gather near the balcony and we would throw them the scraps. They got a meal and this would also reduce waste. This was quite common for people to give their scraps to the stray cats, dogs, crows, birds, etc. Since I left and have been living in the UK/Canada/US for education/work It's quite sad to see the conditions of stray animals here.

My cat brought in a sparrow once. She left it in my bedroom, still able to fly and unharmed and had it fly to the top of my dresser, climbed up, grabbed it in her mouth, brought it down, set it on the floor and had the process repeat for about five times before I took her out of the room and collected the bird to bring it outside.
Such a great teaching : "love and accept each other"
Many of these are a very new definition of "friend"...
