I'm a dude who wanted to get a dog for years. Looked into all of the breeds. Even thought about a Pitbull. Never ever thought of getting a Chihuahua. Randomly I ended up with one and now I absolutely love this little guy so much that I had to get another one. So now I'm a single dude in his 30s with 2 chihuahuas. Lmao. I love them.

@@janiceplatt6993 daily I feel like snapping at idiots. Ironically, I find adults in the world to be the worst. Children who are raised to be respectful of animals are so much easier to teach respectful animal behavior to. They ALWAYS ask if they can approach and pet a new animal. They never approach service animals. They've learned that they can compliment the owner and if that owner volunteers that it is OK only then will they approach. They do not ask to pet or encroach on a working animal's space. My uncle is blind and I may need a service animal for my severe hearing loss. I'm rapidly approaching fully deaf in 1 ear and I have 70% loss in the other.

Just remember your not replacing your loss your previous dog will always be a part of you a new dog will not fill the hole your previous dog left. There are lots of dogs who need homes and your previous dog would look down on you proud to see you give the same amazing quality of life that they had. It's not wrong or replacing to be willing to take in another dog although I can really feel how it would seem that way I had the same issue after my cat of 18 years died. But you've just got to remember that all animals are there unique personalities and would be more then happy to help heal the pain of your loss. They will never replace your previous dogs memory but they will find a place in your heart and become an important part of your life. I like to imagine that when you get another pet after loosing one your previous pet or pets help guide you to find the animal that needs you most. Sorry for the ramble but on a more practical note a great place to start if you do want another dog could be fostering your helping dogs in need and honoring your dogs memory by giving other dogs a chance to find an amazing human and have incredible lives. I hope this helps I really feel your pain I lost my cat 5 years ago and it still effects me it was really hard to get a new pet after that loss so I really understand it.

Me too! I didn’t know it was common actually. I just did it naturally because it felt like the right thing to do. 💖
I had lost my dog of almost 10 years June 6th 2020 and then February 2021, my family cat had also passed as he was almost 14 years old and had many underlying health problems and I was having a really hard time coping since I had basically grown up with them. They were my babies. I lived in a house of 3 other animals, but none of which were mine and for some reason bonding and spending time with them just didn’t feel the same (not that I don’t love them because I DO love them) and I knew that I needed an animal that I could call mine and only mine. My sister’s cat had just had kittens and I’m definitely a lover of cats and she gave me one of her kittens in August 2021. I felt so incredibly guilty but at the same time I was so happy to have my own furry friend again and I noticed she kept gravitating towards the box of my dog’s ashes on my dresser and would play with his leash and collar that I have wrapped around it as well as act like she was playing with something around it in the air and as someone that’s very spiritual, I had a feeling it was my boy coming to say hi to her and play with her as he was extremely playful and loved everyone (and was especially nosy with cats lol). So I started telling her all about him and saying how much they would have loved each other and how she reminded me of him because they’re both so energetic, playful, brave and sweet. It helped so much. 💖 I still get sad thinking of him as it’s only been 2 years, now, but the pain is more bearable than before and having my cat has helped so much. (Even if she does sound like a pterodactyl sometimes when she meows to get my attention and chew on my poor freaking bamboo plant **sigh** 😂💖)

I understand the feeling of guilt you could have at “replacing” a dog with another dog, however I feel that rescuing a dog is really the greatest way to honor your dog that passed.
You’re obviously a wonderful pet parent and any dog is lucky to be with you. I’m sure Beebs is happy that Tina is with you and it’s my belief that the coming together of you and Tina was orchestrated.

I got standard poodle as craigslist's rescue 4 years a week after my childhood toy poodle was put down. My grandparents couldn't handle the silence and I think obviously not having something to baby since all the grandkids are grown. She was very sick at first with a common stomach parasite that went untreated to the point she was severely dehydrated, took months for her to recover its left her with a sensitive stomach ever since. She transitioned very well being around mobility aids and medical supplies. An very spoiled, she thinks she's only cute thing in existence.

I learned about the deep emotional pain the loss of a best friend dog leaves us. So I learned to easiest way to heal that pain is with the love of another dog. I generally have 2-3 dogs all in different stages of age (puppy, middle age, senior) just so when the senior passes I have the other 2 to help me grieve. We just lost our 15-year old yellow lab Chunk, and it was devastating, but without 9-year old Sammy and 6-year old King, I would have been even more of a mess than I was/am.
In a few years, or sooner, I’ll add a puppy/youngling to the pack. And so on. What’s great is the older dogs teach the young pup how to behave. When bedtime is, when feeds happen, how to tell the human about potty needs, certain cues we use and hand gestures for behavior. It’s really nice, I hardly have to train at all.
So my advice is get another furry best friend ASAP. Or better yet, open your mind and heart to the universe you want to give a dog a home and one will find YOU!! It’s happened to me many times lol.

But her fur sticks up on her back so I don't think it's a happy bark. But I always shush her b/c I don't want neighbors to complain. She's larger than I wanted so I think she's mixed with a terrier. When I first got her a couple yrs ago, I thought she was mixed with greyhound b/c her body looked like a small greyhound. The chihuahua in the video I would give my left arm for and she could bark to her tiny heart content!! Such a quiet bark!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗

The best way to honor a pet that has passed is to give another one a chance at a good life. Sometimes it works out that way whether you plan it or not. My Baby Girl passed at 12 years old. The very next day a kitten with burned paws and an eye infection was found at my job, which is something because I work at diesel shop. We think she may have come in on one of the tractor trailers we care for in our fleet. Of course I took her home. She was going to get run over or eaten by a hawk or a snake at the shop. I named her Terra Belle after my Baby Girl. Baby Girl sounded like a baby pterodactyl when she meowed. Funny thing is Terra Belle kind of has Baby Girl’s take no prisoners attitude too. My dad affectionately refers to her as Terror instead of Terra Belle.

No guilt please. To give another pet a loving and caring home is an extraodinary way to honor your dog you just lost. You are not replacing them. You are paying forward all the unconditional love and attention your dog showered you with. You are paying it forward. Animals are pure love. You deserve it as you honor, respect and love animals. Thank you for your unconditional love to your new family member. Animals are not part of the family, they are the heart of the family.

I myself never dreamed I would have a Chihuahua, I liked big dogs and never gave small dogs a second thought. That was until a little Chihuahua named Maggie decided to make me hers. Now I can think of no other dog at all, only Maggie, and I'm alright with that.

“She’s nine now…..” little dogs can live unbelievably long lives, compared to a traditional 10-year normal dog life span. My dad had a little Pomeranian that lived till 22-years old. We literally had to,show the birth certificate/papers to the new owner to prove his age. He outlived both my mom and dad. We gave him to a group that retires older small dogs with special needs (many of his senses had gone by then - sight and hearing) and he lived out his life another few years under excellent care. My 3-labradors would have trampled him, so he was in a better place.
Anyway……my point is with proper care you could have another 10 years still with your Tina.

If you have a passion for a certain breed of dog, you can indulge via rescue. I adopted an 8 year old senior special needs chihuahua, sight unseen; I admit i was nervous that I might not bond with him as deeply as I have with younger dogs. The only difficulty I had was that I only had 8 years with him. I miss him every day even though I lost him years ago. I now have 2 elderly chihuahuas & I have two youngsters. All boys. Chihuahuas have actually always been used to cheer people up and provide companionship, many people have documented their depression greatly reduced once they got a Chihuahua. I am not even making this up though it sounds ridiculous. My Chihuahuas have kept me alive for the past 20 years, I would have committed suicide a long time ago but the thought of leaving them behind was reason enough to never do it. Now I am much older and in a better mental, physical and emotional space. Know whatever you are feeling does pass, depression does not have to be with you forever. I wish you the best on your life path and seriously, consider adopting a Chihuahua :)

Tina’s personality just jumps out of the screen! I have rescued a chihuahua too. He found me 8 yrs ago, and he was there when I had to euthanize my 2 retired working dogs, a shepherd and a Belgian Malinois. Jack got me through it. I wish he would live forever.

I fully believe dogs have a wisdom that goes far beyond human understanding. You're not replacing the pup you lost, you are opening your heart to a new baby. Beebs and Tina have it all worked out. :)

I always say that the pet who passed on sent the grieving parent a new pet to love. Especially if they have, at least, a few of the same quirks. :o)

Chihuahua's are a one person dog. They have their favorite human, and thats it. The fact that Tina LilBit was able to love her new mom so deeply must mean she is a remmarkable human indeed

I was laughing and crying at the same time. Dempsey has been my Velcro since he was 12 weeks old. He's a 3 yr old smooth coat chihuahua and he saved my life during the lockdown. It was just him and I and the bond is unspeakably special. Tina has such a zest for life ! Thank you sooo much for sharing your wee buddy with us. Love from Trish and Dempsey ( under the duvet ) in Edinburgh Scotland.💖🌈

Mine pulled me through the worst depression of my life when we unexpectedly lost my father on February 15th. My depression lasted 5 years. Best little cuddle bugs and tear lickers around. Highly sensitive and very loving.

When she said” I wish time could slow down so I could love her longer”
That’s says it all …… the love is so sweet& the memories are so special. It’s so heartwarming to hear how she lost her beloved pet & wasn’t sure if she had room in her broken heart to start loving another but they grab your heart & there’s no Turing back❣️

I find it so cute that the two had lost someone, in a funny way they came together. I think people forget that dogs can feel things, remember, and feel pain. Perhaps Tina so attached because of this. Really such a nice story.

I had to put Annabelle down after having adopting and having her for 12 years. My wife passed away almost five years after adopting Annabelle and losing Annabelle made me feel more alone than I had for those five years since my wife died. I adopted Abby two days after I lost Annabelle (long story) and Abby seemed to absorb my grief and loneliness immediately. Pets are a blessing. I saw that in your video about Tina.

Tina is too much !! I love how animated, talky, and precious she is. She has all the quirky, fun traits in her and also is a great runner - - those short little legs moving so fast and tippy tappy to her Mama. Give Tina a hug, she is a special little bean !! And thank you for taking her in, she sure is glad !
