I'm 32 now. I remember being a 15 year old jw when my chin hair first started coming in, and having multiple people tell me on a few occasions to shave it. But of course, there was never any Bible based explanation

I left, and never turned back. Entire family in the organization, except for the ones I did not know because they weren't JW. My life would be wasted had I stayed in that sh**.
Me too, was just sat there for years listening to the blah blah off the platform. Yeah it hurt but leaving was the best decision I ever made!

I grew up in the 90’s as a JW. The JW’s in the 90’s were the “ideal” JW bc everyone wore baggy clothing and had poor fashion. Plain.

Back then I had a _huge_ argument with a fellow pioneer about girls wearing pants to meetings. I tried to argue in favor of people attending meetings without having to worry about being judged for how they dressed. You know I lost that argument. I wonder if this person remembers that conversation.
Arguing with your parents who are quadruple down to the indoctrination is the worst and hands down I lose !

Most likely not. Even if they did remember, they'd be right anyway. Being faithful to the GB, even when the GB is wrong, means the JW is still right.

You know what is funny: About 2 months ago I saw 3 women at a cart dressed in nice skirt. 2 weeks ago a passed by and I saw those 3 women wearing dressed pants... 🤭 Did they try to send a message that things have changing or are changing for the WT?
I remember riding around for field service in the back of an elders car. He was explaining to the other passenger how the first sign someone was having problems is they would grow a mustache, then a beard, then it just went downhill from there. Probably mid 80s when I heard that.
Yes, I grew up in Germany and I heard similar sayings like that. Brothers with beads were spiritual weak!

Good to see you! You are so correct my now deceased JW family members would be in a state of shock, behind the changes.
I was a JW in the 1990's (From 1990 - 1997) and this video is so accurate from what I have seen over the years. Yes, the modern JW's sure would get counseled HARD from the elders of the day! - Especially with the line dancing parties and all the rest. Remember when there was the WT or Awake article about listening to worldly music and how we had to destroy it? Today they sure do love their worldly music!
Beards had to be shaven because it was suppose to be to give the world a good image of JW's in the field service. The rule came in from Rutherford because he wanted to distance himself from Rutherford and it looked good for "Selling" Awake and Watchtower magazines back in the 1930's.
On the flip-side, I think with all the "Freedoms" like getting an education and talking to disfellowhipped people would really anger those in the past that couldn't.

So, you did a great job as always. But I do need to correct you on one thing. Yes, it's ok to go to a "trade school" I:E: welding, auto mechanics, phlebotomy. But a 4 year university will still get you on there shit list.

That is absolute nonsense, The "old" witnesses believe the same things as the new ones, if that's what you want to call them....but, if you think about the new old witnesses walking around today, seeing Men dresses as women and people of the same-sex holding hands in broad daylight, I think that they would be horrified but grateful to have any changes that kept them away from that kind of conduct...don't you...??? For a comedian , you haven't thought about this very well, have you?
