And every one of those conventions we were promised something new and amazing for the Sunday talk. It was always the oldest, dullest overseer droning on about the same shit then he would pull out a new book or pamphlet. I glad I only wasted 20 years on it. I always volunteered for food service, you got to miss most of it without pissing off your parents.
I do remember the big conventions in 1974/75 when Watchtower talks scared the lot of us by saying the end of the Gentile Times was upon us in fall '75 and Armageddon was imminent then. I was 10-11 yrs old. Scary times for a kid growing up in this cult.
To be fair, its an old legal rule dating back to the witness time of inception late 1800's / early 1900's , but they have not kept up with the law, and ultimately become accessories to crime!
I had a hard time with this, I believe as a parent~I cannot trust anyone with my kids. I have to stick to them like glue. I am not going to lie, I have been studying with them for 20 years. I appreciate how much I get into my Bible with their help. Recently they said it is up to the person as to how much education they wanted to pursue, and that witnesses shouldn't tell others what they can or cannot do when it comes to their education. If they could stop the shunning of family members, that would be great.

I want to encourage any ex-witness. The WT makes salvation seem ambiguous so people continue to contribute to the business. But in the Bible, salvation is a lot clearer than they’d have us believe. When we hear the gospel of salvation (Romans 10:9, John 3:16) and believe in Jesus as our Lord and savior, we receive the Holy Spirit, as God’s “deposit guaranteeing our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13-14). And with the Holy Spirit, we can read the Bible for ourselves (1 John 2:27). No need for the WT to spin the text for us in a way that supports their worldly agenda of men. Who the Son sets free is free indeed!!!

Hi.I just heard JW WT changing policies in next 10 years......blood issue handle by each JW patient since private, no shunning, accept Ex JW & DF, and child abuse will be reported to police. Supposedly Morris did not want this not happen & reason he left.
I left 18 years ago. I went back in August last year., stayed for 2 months then I started analyzing something is not right there. I left again and not going back ever again…

My jw mother told me excitedly last year that the org is baptising kids as young as 6 now. When i confronted her on her stance she had about the Catholic church baptising babies and young children (she and many others voiced concern a lot about that) she said "Oh well it's different now isn't it? Children mature much younger now and a 6yr old is fully capable of understanding what he's doing" before I could answer that she said "What is it with you? Your always making mountains out of mole hills" Her excuse came straight out of someone else's mouth, she has probably heard that in talk. I think we know why they are baptising young kids now. This cult is an abusive snare.

Jay, when I hear ex-JWs talking about the imminent demise of the organization I tend to compare them to JWs talking about the imminent end of the "system of things". Religions don't suddenly end. They evolve in order to survive and remain relevant. Watchtower is currently in a phase of pivotal evolution. I don't think it's realistic to think the organization would just suddenly be done. Religions typically end by fading gradually over the course of many decades if the religion fails to evolve with the times. But we know Watchtower is not afraid to change. There might be turbulent periods where a lot of members leave due to some great scandal or the imprisonment of one or more of the leaders. But even then the religion continues through the difficulty. When you have millions of believers who believe irrational things for fallacious reasons, there's a certain momentum that keeps things going.
I also think it will keep going for the next 50 years at least. The corporate investors have to keep making their money. I foresee that they will try to blend in more and change more doctrines.

He fumbled around for a few mins trying to find a scripture to support the doctrine but couldn't , said he'd look into it and we'd discuss it later. Well guess what - never talked about again! Because it wasn't scriptural, it was totally man-made, like everything else about Watchtower doctrine
Funny side about Netflix and Blockbuster - in 2000, the Netflix founders gave Blockbuster a $50 Million dollar offer to purchase Netflix. The board laughed them out of the room. Now Netflix is worth over $200 Billion and Blockbuster is dead in the ground.

My jw mother told me excitedly last year that the org is baptising kids as young as 6 now. When i confronted her on her stance she had about the Catholic church baptising babies and young children (she and many others voiced concern a lot about that) she said "Oh well it's different now isn't it? Children mature much younger now and a 6yr old is fully capable of understanding what he's doing" before I could answer that she said "What is it with you? Your always making mountains out of mole hills" Her excuse came straight out of someone else's mouth, she has probably heard that in talk.
I think we know why they are baptising young kids now.

I am not a JW but after Covid what ended happening with field service? I noticed a complete decrease in people going door to door.
To many JWS are being killed. KINGDUMB HALLS blowing up and turning into crime scenes. Just Google it. Being a JW is extremely dangerous. Many congregations are going back to zoom. Members safety are being jeopardized. Some KINGDUMB HALLS are not letting people in without being questioned if you aren't a familiar face

Jay, when I hear ex-JWs talking about the imminent demise of the organization I tend to compare them to JWs talking about the imminent end of the "system of things". Religions don't suddenly end. They evolve in order to survive and remain relevant. Watchtower is currently in a phase of pivotal evolution. I don't think it's realistic to think the organization would just suddenly be done. Religions typically end by fading gradually over the course of many decades if the religion fails to evolve with the times. But we know Watchtower is not afraid to change. There might be turbulent periods where a lot of members leave due to some great scandal or the imprisonment of one or more of the leaders. But even then the religion continues through the difficulty. When you have millions of believers who believe irrational things for fallacious reasons, there's a certain momentum that keeps things going.
All religion overall is at a major decline, people are thinking critically. Instead of following man made organization's and Religion's.
I also think it will keep going for the next 50 years at least. The corporate investors have to keep making their money. I foresee that they will try to blend in more and change more doctrines.

The next doctrine to fall will be that of the enthronement of Jesus in 1914. The new "light" will soon announce that Jesus will be enthroned as king during the great tribulation.
The entire concept of the Elder arrangement is to have the elder or older men who have the wisdom of years to shepherd the flock. How in hell can a 22 yr old do that? We are witnessing (pun intended!) the implosion of this cult, but sadly my devout sister will probably stay with it until the bitter end.

My sister no longer has a choice, if she abandons the Watchtower she will commit suicide. When I tell her that the Watchtower is going to collapse she panics.

My sis is 54, married with no children, and this religion runs her life, she wants it that way. We are on civil terms and speak every now and then mostly about our mother who is in long-term care and has mental illness. At the time I discovered his books, I was actually online in seach of the Aid for Understanding Study book and All scripture is inspired.... I was deeply affected as I read Bro. I was a JW about 30 years ago. Was a bit shocked to find out recently how 'watered down' they have made things. Clearly my eyes were opened a long time ago by reading Orwells 1984 then Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan (neither 'apostate') but that was enough to make me see. So yes, I think you are right my friend. They are going to collapse at some point.
