I thought the visual effects in Free Guy were amazing, blending a video-game with a real city to create Free City. Also, Reynolds playing both Guy and Dude in the same scene was a very convincing effect

Manuel Orozco maybe shang chi but No way home Vistula had a lot mistakes in the Vistula effects in a lot of scenes. Marvel visual effects lately are awful. The only movie in the fase 4 with good cgi was eternals

This win was pretty obvious given the number of nominations, the look of effects in the trailer, and that Paul Lambert hasn't lost an Oscar (yet) and as well as winning visual effects for Blade Runner 2049 which was also by Denis Villeneuve he also won for First Man

I understand it winning Best VFX, I understand it winning Best Score, I even understand it winning Best Cinematography (even though West Side Story was also deserving)
However it taking Best Production Design away from Nightmare Alley?
NA whose entire Production Design made a masterpiece that cultivated the entire tone for the beautiful movie.
Taking Best Editing? When it hadn't won a single Editing award all season? It lost Editing awards to No Time to Die, Tick Tick Boom, King Richard and West Side Story.
It also did not have the Best Sound. The Power of the Dog, although subtle had more impactdul Sound mixing and Editing.
It deserved VFX, and Score. It also won all the precirsor awards for Best Cinematography so sure give it that Oscar. But Dune is not a 6 Time Academy Award winning film. This was pure laziness from the Academy who just knew Dune was going to win awards and decided to give all the technical awards, even though technically certain categories Dune failed to outdue its competitors. Im personally salty for NA losing BPD, and not winning even 1 Oscar

Ya Cinematography was pretty mixed for me too ...I mean I loved Greg Fraiser's work, but Januz Kaminski did an even better job.....

Kind of hahaha. Special effects are fantastic, but the movie is incredibly overrated. I never thought Marvel would be overthrown by anything here.
