David gets special recognition and his first words to thanks it is: I'm so glad I didn't got stuck im traffic. Such a simple guy, that's why we love him.
What always gets me is how proud everyone around him is, while David just can't believe that they actually mean him. During the whole thing he looks like he's waiting for the punch line. Like he expects someone to jump up and say: "It's all right, David - this was a joke here is the actual winner." Just shows how humble and down to earth he is despite the huge fame he gathered during the time as The Doctor.
My husband correctly me as well as we had just been married and standing in the cold outside the church I said, gosh, it's bloody cold! He turned and looked at me with disgust and said don't swear. He is lucky it was our wedding as I would've walked straight out. Instead I made his life a misery the last 46 years, hahaha
I agree with you, but give it time. Actors generally don't get knighted until after years and years of service to drama, and David will hopefully have a long, fantastic career ahead of him. Hopefully he will receive an Order of the British Empire soon, though.
I don't know what is more touching, his lost and emotional look, or Georgia trying to hold back her tears! Total absence of ego, Olivia Colman really hit the point. It's nice to see that sometimes good things happen to those who deserve them
I love Olivia Coleman, too, but I disagree with her wording. DT has an abundantly healthy ego. Otherwise, he wouldn't have anything to give. What she has conveyed is that he is totally authentic, humble, genuine, and open. He commits 💯 to the roles he embodies, be they comedic, goofy, dramatic, heart-wrenching, or being himself. He does so without a shred of self-consciousness and is totally comfortable in his body without inhibitions. He is totally unaware of what he possesses, which is obvious to those who experience him and that totally endears him to us. I especially love that Georgia seems to be a regular person vs. a trophy or Barbie wife.
old comment but have to add this. agreed, when i learned they got married and didn't know much about david, my thoughts were "oh, of course, he married the cutest actress of the show" but that reaction shows it is real love, not some "celebrity marriage"
@@thecursed01 Oh, I'm not sure if you're British or not, but I can assure you she isn't a famous actress here (and I mean that with no disrespect). She married David for David -- she is not seeking anything untoward. The funny thing is: her father also played one of the original Doctors... fate has a sense of humour...
David Tenant is the only actor who inspires me to watch something simply because he plays a role in it. It's a guaranteed seal of quality and thrilling performances.
@@aidenlarson9911 He had presented a trophy earlier in the evening and the person awarded was stuck in traffic and didn't make it in time... So that's that :-)
Every now and then this will pop up in my recommendations and I'll watch it again and I always think it is the most wholesome reaction I've ever seen. The confusion, the shock, the disbelief at all the lovely things people were saying about him...and seeing the reactions of others as well, there was barely a face there that wasn't looking at him walking onto the stage with a look of pure admiration and pride for him, knowing he truly deserved it. A true talent.
He was filming Dr Who near my home years back, I must have been around 7. We waited outside just to see all the production, then a lady came out, took my Dr Who annual inside to see if she could get him to sign it, around 5 minutes later I was handed a signed annual and some Dr Who £5 notes by David Tennant himself. That’s something he didn’t have to do but I will forever remember. A genuinely kind and great person, deserving of the award.
David comes across as a genuinely good person. He is talented, but he also seems quite grounded. There is a kindness to his performances, an authenticity and warmth. His doctor was funny, quirky, sweet and decent. I’m not at all surprised he is so loved by his peers.
When my youngest son was watching Doctor who, he always got excited and had this clever instinct about the story arc. He wrote to himm saying it was his 8th birthday he sent an autographed card even with the words Happy birthday Kyle. My 2 young people as they are were my carers for ages. Kyle wrote him and got 2 cards back.. one for me saying get well too. Kyle hits 10... another card saying happy 10th. Then David's mum died of Cancer.. Kyle went straight into drawing mode and drew him a picture of Davids mum up in the sky with wings smiling at him! And a few weeks later got another card saying thank you Kyle. Then 2010 came. David was leaving. That was the last card with him as the doctor. Kyle was 11 and Matt Smith was in. Kyle still loves Doctor Who. But for 4 years David sent 6 photo's all signed. What a lovely guy. And yes a very modest man. It made me laugh listening to them exclaiming that both of them have kids about Kyle's age (now 20 and at Uni) going up and saying "you were my Doctor" age comes to us all. I am all too ewll know coz I'm 48 as well!!
I got to meet him at Motor City Comic Con this past May. An announcement was made that David would be staying on until ALL autographs were done. He had 3 photo sessions with Freema and then the photos with just him so there wasn't much time to do the autograph sessions. He really cares about the fans.
Yeah. When he hears his dad's voice and starts to look like he is about to cry and, without even looking, her left hand moves up to touch his shoulder in support...that is love right there.
Especially when his dad started talking about him. Loved it when he said, "But then, as you must realize, I'm his dad." Now, his father may be gone, but in the end, he was proud of David. As we all are.
I actually like the side stories. It showed what is worse. Literal manipulation or conventional manipulation. Are we the monsters? Or is Kilgrave the only monster? Guess what, Purple Man can't even tell the difference. Authenticity is hidden by regular people. If we were all authentic all the time, there wouldn't be a blur line. Also, not all of victims attacked Jessica, only three of them, the 4th one tried to stop their stupidity.
Not only did this man deserve this award, he deserved to hear a full theater hoot and holler, cheer, and applaud for him getting that award. Now, when can we expect a knighthood?
I'm pretty sure that it was one of the last interviews his father did before he passed away. When his dad appeared, you saw David's face crumble slightly, but you could tell he felt happy that his father was onscreen, praising his son. Loved it when he said, "But then, as you must realize, I'm his dad." Wonderful way to end a praising compilation of a talented actor and incredible human being.
I agree. In my opinion he was and always will be the best Doctor! I’ve never cried so hard as I did when he and Rose parted on the beach and when Tennent regenerated into Smith while saying “I don’t want to go”….soul killing grief!
@@kerrijohnson2303 He really did give us 3 breath taking seasons, and when he finally did say "I don't want to go" it felt like David was saying it himself too. Hands down the best doctor, whether it was him leaving us in tears burning up a sun to say goodbye to Rose or giving us a laugh seeing him banter with Donna. But hey, it looks like what I've been wishing for for years has finally come true!!- He's back and gonna be appearing as the Doctor again in 3 specials next year! FINALLY
@@dareka727 I totally agree. His natural personality and stage presence and good nature just made his doctor the most natural fit..he was funny, but if angry, he was scary angry..his tears on the show seemed so real and he was so sad and gutted when sad things happened, he was witty and kind, lonely and deep and insecure, he rolled with whatever the doctor had to face and it never seemed like he was acting..it felt real. When river whispers his real name to him when he meets her the first time and his reaction and his race to save her in the library had me going crazy. It’s just him. He’s a really good and easygoing and happy guy in real life and it comes through in acting. I liked Matt smith a lot but doctor who will never be as good as the tenth to me. I quit watching when Matt left. I wish he’d go back to who full on and I’m sure he’d do it if offered. It would bring the show back on top. As is the show is just blah and getting worse.
@@kerrijohnson2303 Yes! That's why there's no other contender for 'my Doctor'. He was always so passionate and emotive and not just with the delivery of the lines, but in his whole body language and facial expressions too. He did feel very natural in the role. It's always a very immersive experience watching him, he is so charismatic and captivating as an actor, that his tears brought about my own, his laughs too. The glimpses of the Doctor's loneliness and insecurity that peak through his otherwise seemingly endless brilliance play a subtle part in making the Doctor more relatable. And David Tennant nailed this. It all felt so real, a Doctor unlike any other. The relationship between him and River that unfolded in just 2 episodes in the library was brilliant. The 'I point and laugh at archaeologists' and sonic screwdriver comparisons and 'pretty boy' to her whispering his secret to him and him saving her. Loved it. Maybe a main reason his version of the Doctor is so distinct is because a large part of his real life self is reflected in it. I quite liked Matt, and stopped watching at some point in Capaldi. It was never going to be easy for anyone to come after Tennant I guess. I did like seeing the backstory to River Song play out with Matt, but could barely get through any Capaldi. It would be soso good to see him back in the role full on. If the 3 specials coming next year draw in a big enough crowd, he could be called back by popular demand. Well we can only hope.
more than that i think it's also just the fact that david has pretty much always been a huge doctor who fan and getting to actually be the doctor is basically the role of a lifetime for anyone, let alone a lifelong fan.
I can't imagine the feeling of having an entire concert amount of people cheering you and you only for who you are and what you've achieved. Must be amazing.
Six minute video of colleagues, friends and family singing David's praises and how wonderful he is. David: takes the trophy, wide-eyed, and looks around for something to say. David: "...I am so glad I didn't get stuck in traffic." That's why people like you, man. Never change.
I met David while at work at a service station, He was the loveliest and most genuine guy! No whole charade, just a man with his family and so polite to everyone!
Watching David look around is surprise and joy when he realises it's him is warming. His face when his dad first appears is beautiful. When he starts tearing up half way through... He's an amazing actor and deserved this
I've watched every NTA ceremony since 2006 and I have never, before or since, seen an audience stand up so instantly! That was actually very touching. 🥺💗💗
The genuine shock on his face as it dawned on him. A modest, simple guy loves his work. You know what they say about actors; there are those who are humble and those waiting to be humbled.
I just heard that Reverend Sandy Macdonald had recently been diagnosed with the illness that ultimately took his life, David's reaction is very real here.
I love how for the first few minutes its Broadchurch and his realistic roles, but then as soon it hits 3:02 and we hear "I'm the Doctpr" he has that slight smile come on. He IS The Doctor, for so many of us. And he is so much more. Thank you David.
Also, Georgia Moffett is so adorable. David and she really are in love. You can tell how much she cares about her husband and loves him by the way she looks at David and supports/conforts him the whole time. Its making my heart melt, really. I mean it’s incredible to see real love those times especially from celebrities who got temptations to cheat every time. Anyway, I wish these two the best🥰
@@imabittersweet no one said she was. Georgia Moffett is her real pre-marriage name - Peter Davison's name isn't actually Peter Davison, it's Peter Moffett. He, like many actors (including David!) used a different name for their acting careers to the one they were born with.
@@dragon_toad Well Muhammad Ali kinda implied that, saying she was "the offspring of the best showwriter" (because that doesn't really sound like Peter Davison to me, him being an actor and all) Also yeah I know how pseudonyms work
that video they played has to be worth more than any award. his father and his best friends all celebrating him, with his wife beside him. that had to have been one of the best moments of his life.
I adored Christopher Eccleston's Doctor and wanted so much more... so when this new guy (who I'd never seen before in anything ever) turned up, I was determined not to like him... But then in that first episode, when he said, "It... is... DEFENDED."... I began to doubt my resolve. Then David proceeded, over the next few years, to give me the very best incarnation of The Doctor that I could have possibly imagined. And him and Donna together... my favourite pair by far. So yes... Despite my absolute determination not to give him any kind of chance, by God, He... Is... MY DOCTOR.
Oh man, the Christmas Invasion. He literally came swashbuckling in out of the TARDIS, like nothing we'd ever seen before...sparkling with razor wit and Errol Flynn flair, breaking the Sycorax's staff over his knee, quoting the Lion King, and pushing the BIG RED THREATENING BUTTON. He just swept in and took ownership of the whole show. With those enormous, shining eyes and 100-kilowatt smile. Smote, I was.
I was the same. I’d only seen him in one other part and he played a cruel character so well I thought it couldn’t work. I’ve not watched dr who since he left as he was and I my dr.
You pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. I loved Eccleston and still do wish he had stuck around longer another season at least and than Tennant brought in for his 3 seasons. Tennant is my favorite Doctor and Donna is also my favorite companion, Doctor Donna forever!
This is so genuinely sweet. The whole thing. David, his wife, the way she looks at him, his look as if he's going to be in tears, all the testimonials. "I'm glad I didn't get stuck in traffic"
he didnt even realise it was him at the start. he leaned over to olivia cos broadchurch came up and mustve thought it was somebody related to that maybe behind the scenes cos they do honour directors etc. you can see it slowly dawning as he watches and georgia getting emotional. adore this
Hollywood consists mostly of hookers, pimps and pedophiles anyways. Talent is hardly ever a measure they use, more about how nice you look and very likely also if you jump in bed with the right people. Best to stay far away from it, it is a very toxic environment.
"Most underrated...", by whom? We literally watched a video where he received a special recognition award because he is so highly rated. "Most underrated" is the most overused compliment you could give a person.
His portrayal of Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter struck me. even though quite a small role really stuck with me, every time I read the book I can’t help but imagine David every time. It’s perfect
Oh yes. I really had a strange feeling because I had read the book and I immediately thought he didn't stick at all to Barty Crouch's description... Then I just thought: "Sure he doesn't look like him, but I don't care, he's so good! Best demented looks I've ever seen!" And then the Doctor, D.I. Alec Hardy and Crowley came along...
He really is an actor's actor. His range is phenomenal. When I first saw him as Ten, I didn't even realize I'd already seen him in Harry Potter. Took me YEARS before I made the connection. And then to see him as a cop and then again as Crowley soon after was yet ANOTHER double dose of whiplash lol.
I think I’ve probably watched this TV moment 7 times in the last few years and it’s only now hit me how his wife is close to tears too. She’s touching his shoulder - support when he’s emotional - but she clearly knows how important this would be to him and is emotional herself being so happy and proud of him. ❤️
I only recently became a fan of Tennant's, crunched thru his Doctor seasons in two weeks. That scene made me go 'WTF?!' because never having watched DW until the latest season, I don't think it ever occurred to me that a Doctor would fight his regeneration, that he would like staying as he is and not fight becoming someone new, even though they are all him. That just hurt. I felt so sad for him.
@@noonecandeflecttheemeralds544 he is the best and most genuine doctor who ever and i hated to see him get regenerated but i have to say the 11th doctor is 2nd best for me

What always gets me is how proud everyone around him is, while David just can't believe that they actually mean him. During the whole thing he looks like he's waiting for the punch line. Like he expects someone to jump up and say: "It's all right, David - this was a joke here is the actual winner."
Just shows how humble and down to earth he is despite the huge fame he gathered during the time as The Doctor.
Makes me laugh when he realizes and turns to his wife and she has to say "Don't swear!"

The look on Georgia's face and the way she touches his shoulder when his dad says "he's gentle" - oh that's love!
old comment but have to add this. agreed, when i learned they got married and didn't know much about david, my thoughts were "oh, of course, he married the cutest actress of the show" but that reaction shows it is real love, not some "celebrity marriage"

I know right? I LOVE this so much. It's so touching 😢
Same here! Just popped up again for me. Have to watch it every time. It's so precious.
Awh what did it say?
You are genuinely so lucky
lol u ded
Bless you !
Benjamin Joseph Kidd-Bentley That is beautiful.
@@leolion3323 yea .. if you ever watch him chatting with kids.. he gets down to their level so he is very good with them.
I got to meet him at Motor City Comic Con this past May. An announcement was made that David would be staying on until ALL autographs were done. He had 3 photo sessions with Freema and then the photos with just him so there wasn't much time to do the autograph sessions. He really cares about the fans.
You can tell from his wife's face, that she truly loves him.
Impossible not to!

It's so sweet that his dad and him have similar voices. I imagine that is what David will sound like in 30 years.

David Tennants performance as The Purple man or Kilgrave in Jessica Jones was probably the best thing this year.
+Aemiro Habte It was a device to connect Kilgrave's parents.

Isn't purple man suposse to be purple? I mean, i only read a comic of purple man from the 70's, so, how could i know how he is now.

Heart...Melt!❤️❤️
He teared up when his dad was on the screen
When he sees his father on the screen, the look on his face crushed me. Had a good cry at that...
Me too, and it happened each time he saw his dad too. His dad must be a great father to have that sort of reaction from his son, I love it.
You can see he almost smiles at every scene of Doctor Who which shows that he knows that Doctor Who was his best performance yet.
