Love your video content, and the Tamiya you built. You inspired me to purchase this model. Although to be honest I was a bit skeptical, but after the way you built it, painted it, and the wheels/tires you installed on the blue beauty, man! I want one now. btw your videos are always crisp and clear and every aspect my friend. Kudos to you.
Wow, thanks for the fantastic comment, man! I really appreciate it! I'm glad you're enjoying the show, thanks for being here. As for the CC02, you're gonna love it! Have fun! 👊🏼🤗
Great and interesting building video Fil. The car looks great. And yeah, Tamiya and LEDs're not the best friends. I had to order whites for the reverse lights. In the MFU-kit they're red. Colouts of thevwores didn't match wich the ones in the manual and so on.
Talk about a rabbit hole, I've been upgrading my CC-02 and haven't even taken it outside yet. It's no shelf queen, but I'm just saying to myself "just one more thing I need to get it ready!"
I did the cc02 unimog and just have to say, I really enjoyed the build. It was the same colour shell as its box art for the uni and it is a nice colour. Mine low ratio both diffs locked and yes it's slow, but not much stops it. I also made my own shell mounts so it's magnetic with a quick release power coupling for the LEDs. Nothing fancy but it works.
Nice Video. The CC02 is a great and unique little kit, I only wished Tamiya would bring out a portal axle hop-up option, that would be the cherry on the cake, especially for the CC02 Unimog.😅
It is a great little kit. Will be building my 2nd one shortly. Definitely need both diffs locked, made the mistake of leaving the front open on my first one.. won't do that again! 😂😂😂

Hi there Fil, another most excellent build video right there my man! I really do like the look of that chassis (or "shassy as it's pronounced!!! 🤣😅👍Only kidding mate, I just remembered one of our earlier conversations!) This is definitely on my radar when funds allow. The colour choice is spot-on too, this is going to look killer out on the trails. Bummer about the missing LEDs, come on Tamiya! Have a great day, dude! 😎👌👍

Bro. No joke. It’s is fiddly. I messed up few times. Really the entire build is easy. But hard. Especially for my first model and rc car I assembled. It was a learning curve. I have few things I need to redo. Like the mount hole for front shocks. The instructions says one hole but the shocks aren’t perpendicular to the ground. And I have the 4 link bars backwards. And it takes time to drive the screws in and out by hand. There is no great Philips screw driver that’s fits perfectly to use a small power tool. But I found one close enough. The chassis took me about two days 6 hours a day. The body. … bro….., I’m scared. I don’t want to messed it up. But I know painting it would be very meticulous. I’m still studying the best way to tape it up and trim and all that good stuff. But man it sure is super fun. Especially at my 39 year old ass. Welder and car nut. I had RTR nitros before. But assembling these model RC is way to F-ing cool man
Tamiya makes an awesome screwdriver kit, it's got the proper JIS screwdrivers, and all the hex drivers you need. 👍🏻 As for painting, it's easy to screw it up, and hard to make it perfect! Haha! I've got a full video series dedicated to painting bodies. I strongly recommend you watch them all and familiarize yourself with the concepts discussed. If you get stuck or have questions, just email me. 👊🏼🍻
They never have given the required amount of lights with the unit, does it still make the whining noise. Nice they include a roof rack with the body. Good the lower gear ratio, but why not a slower motor. I like the bigger tyres looks so much better and will grip over stock.
This looks like a good build and I have some great jungle trails here in Malaysia that be perfect for a crawler. There some greats tips I'm going tk pick up a BBX I Japan in April but I may pock those up also or the new NSX it's going to be a tuff pick.

I built the CC02 Mercedes SUV. I enjoyed the build. I was very disappointed that Tamiya only had metal parts for the chassis in the front and in the rear. Why not a full metal chassis? I still have not seen an after market metal chassis. Not sure why? I also got lots of metal parts from GPM and Tamiya for my truck. The original tires for this kit are rock hard. I got Tamiya tires that were much softer and way better. I also installed a Holmes Hobbies 550 brushed motor to try to get some more torque. That motor is a tight fit, but it does fit. Thoughts?
The plastic/steel chassis is an interesting one. Tamiya certainly marches to the beat of their own drum. At the end of the day, the CC02 chassis works, it's just unusual. The stock tires are good for drifting, lol! So upgraded rubber is a must. Overall, it's a really fun little chassis, just not quite up to SCX10 stature yet.
