Only stock thing is axle housings and rear half shafts. I still have a build thread on it in the forum (Norwegian Twin Turbo Rat Rod) Been in the hobby for 32 years, but have been intrested in rc for about 37 years which started with Tamiya and Kyosho catalogs in around 85, and then RCCA magazines from 87' and nearly two decades forward. Hi there im back in the hobby😁ive just finished the BBX box art colour & just opened the box to a tamiya ford bronco ❤ ,doing it your colour & bought the berings ,built madcap in 1990 & re re of the boomerang in 2011 😉
That is a nice Bronco body for the CC02. Not a bad color choice either. The body shakes on the mount rods a bit in the video but that’s to be expected. If I recall correctly I have the Hilux from 1981, the Bruiser rerelease kit, the Pajero CC01 kit, the Unimog 425 CC01 kit, the Wild One kit, the GF01 kit, and the Sand Rover rerelease kit. Of those I put together the Sand Rover, the GF01 which I modified to accept the Wild Willy body from the WR02 kit and the Wild One I used to make the Knight Customs Sand Rail. The others I have yet to build. I fitted the ones I have built with Fast Eddy Bearings from Ebay as I knew about the less than reliable bushings included in these kits.
On about my 35th Tamiya. I have a project ATM with a 1973 Bronco body on a CC-02 running a Beier SFR-1 sound and light kit. a few 3D design and printed parts. Next Tamiya to build is Merc C11 after TD4
I love a good Tamiya kit. The expectations for a Tamiya are fun over performance with great scale details. Currently there are three built on shelves; a dancing rider, a lunchbox, and a tt01. As someone who enjoys building kits I try to keep one on deck for sick days or bad weather days. Currently I have a tt02 and a dual rider in waiting.
I think they knocked it out of the park with this body. The 2 door looks phenomenal and they include lights which is killer! Bummer for no interior but that's an easy work around. Thanks for another great video matt!
Really look forward to seeing you customize this. Never done a Tamiya build but this 1 looks good. This is most tempted I've ever been to considering one. Nice video!
Bronco looks cool. Hopefully Tamiya bring out some more scale truck bodies. Edit since I watched to the end: Over 200+ RCs, 90% would be Tamiya. I love building kits and painting. I like character and quirkiness, so I am fine with them not being exceptional/perfect runners. I like owning a CC01-2 as much as a SCX/Enduro etc.
What's funny is Tamiya had the classic Bronco on the IFS CC01 and the new Bronco is on the solid axle CC02 😆. Also there's also a Unimog and D90 Defender CC02s also available~
I think I own 18 but could be off a couple three. They are just a cool company that does emphasize detail, and I love it. The amount of body options on some of their chassis are fantastic.
Built a fair amount of the Clodbusters back in the 90s for rock crawling. Used a regular #1 and #2 Phillips screwdriver and complained the entire time🤣
Iv never built a tamiya.... iv owned one... but it was like a cheap monster truck. This was 20 years ago haha. Thus is cool, I like that they did the 2 door. That's the bronco I prefer The 4 door looks odd... the 2 door is a proper bronco. But anyways. Great work, love the colour. Great run footage to.
Thanks Matt for another great video, I always look forward to your posts! Well, looking around my hobby room I am counting 12 Tamiya rigs that I have built and only one has been given away away, where are you super blackfoot!. There are some from my teenage days like a TA02 Toyota prerunner and TA02 Celia and alongside the TA02 there is my Subaru XV01. I am particularly proud of my race clod with New Era chassis and more recently acquired near mint Bullhead and a shelf queen TXT-1 that has never seen dirt.
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks bud!!! I get lots of inspiration from your builds and have been addicted to crawlers and in particular scalers since 2005 when I was a member of ORCRC (Oregon RC Rock Crawlers). I have many builds but I'm not going to brag, because that's the Tamiya way haha.
Brother, I have built like 7 kits from tamiya . I have 2 cc01 kits witch I think they should off built the ford Bronko on. And I the cc02 Mercedes. Great kits . You can make a cc01 in to a bouncing low rider.
I'm looking forward to the Anniversary Porsche build. I have roughly 40 Tamiya kits around. Most of them are at least partly disassembled to save space, until i have some shelves available to show them off.
@@scalebuildersguild well, they made and make so many rally cars.. Also i raced Tamiya F1s in the '90s so things stack up. I just have completed my dragon series collection (five buggies). Gonna pick up my FireDragon from the Packstation tomorrow. 🤗
Nice looking Bronco. I currently have 3 Tamiya kits, but I think I've owned 6 over time (never should have sold that Blazing Star!). I've had the most fun with their rally cars.
Built two Tamiya kits over the winter: a Hotshot and a Grasshopper. Fun builds and nostalgic driving experience in the buggy sphere. I’ll add more Tamiyas to my collection in the future, but probably not anything on the CC01/02 chassis. Just too many good high-performance crawler/trail-truck options out there to be hindered by Tamiya’s quirks. This Bronco body looks ok standing still, but it sure flops around a lot in video.
How ironically that the CC01 does sort of have inner fenders but if was going to get one (which I'm not) being a Brit it would be the upcoming CC02 with the Defender body! Plus already have the Double E Defender,a CC01 and several Axial based trucks so it would honestly be a waste of resources! In historical order, Clodbuster, Juggernaut 2, Tamiya Highlift, TA-04, CC-01 x2, TT-01 (too many to count), M-06 x2, M-05, and an XV-01. Several different body options on the CC-01 I had the old Bronco, Wrangler, old FJ, and Pajero. Their bodies are indeed fantastic in forming, except the samba VW Bus has a few areas the lexan is very thin. They are always an enjoyable build.
Great video and I love the style of your reviews, very entertaining and great footage of the Bronco in action. 👍 You've got to love Tamiya, but they're definitely quite different, very quirky! I've got a little Tamiya CC01 Pajero hardbody and an original Grasshopper II still working, from way back when, when they probably employed little Tamiya elves to make them! The CC01 is quite tough and fairly capable, the Grasshopper...not so much! 🤣
Ha, I got you beat, I've got a first release Rough Rider and a 959 among others. The rough rider is literally a piece of crap. They used the rigid styrene body to stiffen the flexible frp deck so the first real jump the body broke at the weakest part (which happened to be where it attached to the rear roll bar). Another quirk is they still use the snap on tie rod ends which weaken after 2 times and constantly fall off or break.
Great video! Love the look of the 2door version. And i really like the CC-02 chassis even if it's not scale accurate. What I am also very curious about, is the Ford Escort Hoonigan in the thumbnail. They look great together!
lotta rc broncos on the market at the moment! I'm rather curious to see how this body compares detail wise to the 2 door proline one, scale/size differences over looked of course.
Stock bearings? On a Tamiya? Hahaha! This almost looks like a hard body, and you've done a great job with the matte black, Matt! 😉 I believe this is at least the 4th body on the CC02 chassis; G500, Unimog, Defender D90 and Bronco. The wheelbase is also different between the G500 and the Bronco. I was reeealy hoping you did a video on the D90, as I'm planning on building one with my girlfriend (a surprise for her). I do like this body better, but since she is a Defender girl, it will go easier on her ($$$). 😛 I'm thinking of changing the wheels and tires, mounting the body with magnets and putting some sort of interior. Our inspiration will be the Grasmere green Defender Heritage Edition, one of 3 Heritage models Land Rover came up with to celebrate the end of the "traditional" Defenders before the newer model. 🤩 Why the different servo mounting options? Performance or the ability of adjusting to different bodies? 🤔
Really love the look of this kit compared to the Mercedes. Can't wait to get it running! It's my first trail truck, what's a good servo (in kg & speed) to have for these things? Thanks and great videos of it running!
For a trail truck that sees light rock crawling duty, nearly anything off the shelf will have enough get up and go. Look for something with 150 oz/inches or more.
I agree... It drives me nuts just for the wrongness. Tamiya spends decades putting Jeeps, Landrovers and Landcruisers on the IFS and coil CC01. Now, what do they do?
@@scalebuildersguild I was going to say that it used not to be, but then, RWD Brat, AWD Lancia 037 (2nd and 3rd time around) , RWD Quattro 🤤. One exception I will give them is the Wild Willy. The original Formula Offroad Jeeps built in Scandinavia were sat high on buggy sand tyres and converted to RWD with V8 running gear taken from American imports. Tell me this isn't the real Wild Willy (time stamped) ruclips.net/video/9HdCkAK8fc4/видео.html

I’ve lost count of how many Tamiya kits I’ve built, but the most memorable one was the Bruiser in 1985
I really like that it’s a 2 door. I know I’m in the minority but I can’t stand the 4 door version.

You aren’t the only one who favors 2-door over 4-door, including Jeep’s, there isn’t an abundance sadly of 2-door Jeep’s either
4 door just doesn’t look right.
The 2 door is the way to go for these.
I agree! The 4 door is not a true bronco IMO.
17 on my shelf, 9 yet to be built, and the CC-02 2021 Bronco on pre-order.

Ich mag den CC02 als Plattform und denke, dass er ein gutes Potenzial hat. Wird es so gut kriechen wie Axial oder Traxxas? Nein, aber ich glaube nicht, dass das der Punkt ist. Danke für deine Kommentare!
A new idea for your soon to br released sticker sheet, "That's the Tamiya way!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Great idea! Thanks for watching!
Always enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Very noice! I miss my cco2 jeep Wrangler
Wow what a beautiful rig!
It is! Thanks for watching!
I have an old Clodbuster and it currently broken.
I want these kits. Question is there bearings now or are they still pushing bushings.
Great video! Love the look of the 2door version. And i really like the CC-02 chassis even if it's not scale accurate. What I am also very curious about, is the Ford Escort Hoonigan in the thumbnail. They look great together!
That's also a Tamiya kit, Escort on a MF01X with some custom flourishes. Thanks for watching!
lotta rc broncos on the market at the moment! I'm rather curious to see how this body compares detail wise to the 2 door proline one, scale/size differences over looked of course.
I see the year of no lexan is going well 😂 but it is a great looking kit and great video 👍
Who said that 😂?
I'm up to 40'ish now. 39 since quarantine :)
Wow! You've been busy!
We all want to see RC cars with no body posts , i like your videos Can you do review on fms 1/6 willys
Thanks for watching and I will not be doing a review of the FMS 1/6 Willy.
Stock bearings? On a Tamiya? Hahaha!
This almost looks like a hard body, and you've done a great job with the matte black, Matt! 😉
I believe this is at least the 4th body on the CC02 chassis; G500, Unimog, Defender D90 and Bronco. The wheelbase is also different between the G500 and the Bronco.
I was reeealy hoping you did a video on the D90, as I'm planning on building one with my girlfriend (a surprise for her). I do like this body better, but since she is a Defender girl, it will go easier on her ($$$). 😛
I'm thinking of changing the wheels and tires, mounting the body with magnets and putting some sort of interior. Our inspiration will be the Grasmere green Defender Heritage Edition, one of 3 Heritage models Land Rover came up with to celebrate the end of the "traditional" Defenders before the newer model. 🤩
Why the different servo mounting options? Performance or the ability of adjusting to different bodies? 🤔
Right you are, I keep forgetting the Defender and the Unimog!
Yeah, that's a very fine Bronco. But I am more keen on the mk. ll Escort next to the Bronco. Any info on that project or video?
That's also a Tamiya kit, Escort on a MF01X with some custom flourishes. Thanks for watching!
That's the Tamiya way 😂!
