    Wonderful build, like the Blu and the matted black roof. The running video in the wood going over those rocks and the roots sticking out of the ground, first tes went well. And the extra footage at the end I'm still laughing. 💥💥💥✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️👍🤜🤛

      It did really well, I am going to yank the transmission and stick the low speed gearing into as it is too fast for me out there and will give it some more guts when try to climb over things. While it is not truly a rock crawler truck it is mostly going to get driven out there and needs to be able to handle all that stuff! I am also sticking a Hobby Wing 1080 ESC in there for some drag brake. For a completely stock truck with a basic servo and esc it did very well, with some upgrades it will be great! I am glad you got a chuckle out of the ending, I am sure everyone can relate!

      Thanks you! I am really happy with the way it looks and with a few mods and tweaks it will be a really great performer! I don't know how folks get such great action shots while driving, it was all i could to to drive, video and walk without falling on my rear the whole time I was out there!!! These guys with movie like footage of the trucks always in frame perfectly deserve a medal!!!

      Thanks! I think it is generally an appealing color for kits and one that looks great on many body styles. Blue, red and black seem to be my go to unless I am copying the box art paint schemes.

      Thank you. I agree Tamiya nailed the body set on this one and it looks great all done up. With a few cheap upgrades and the trans rebuilt with the low range gearing I think it will be a great performer out there. It did surprisingly well with the generic cheap servo and the plain 1060 ESC so once those are upgraded it should really do well.

    Hi there Addam, you’ve created a master piece and a good choice of colour, that blue and black colour combination is beautiful! A lot of work indeed. I hope you enjoyed building the CC-02 chassis. I’ve made a basic interior to the G500 of mine, it serves two purposes, the hiding of the internals, and allows you to attach the cabling for the lights to the lighting module, with only the power lead to worry about, when removing the body. Great video. Take care and best wishes wishes to you and the family 😁😉😊

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thank you John! I do want to do an interior of some sort, that I think will be a winter project. I a going to toss in a HW 1080 ESC, a 35kg servo and swap the trans gearing to low range. I think after all that it will do extremely well! It did surprise me how well it did with the setup it has now and will only get better with the planned upgrades!!

      @@AddamsPlayground As you talked about the lights I had a little deja vu. I might be wrong, but I think it's a standard light electronic. And this was buildet into the Amewi RTR Oshkosh truck. Maybe using another slot might improve the function of the rear lights.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      @@RCBirds the stock light kit is just always on lights front and rear from what I could tell. I put in a cheap aftermarket kit and it works well enough. I may try and tinker with it again when I do the mods I have planned soon.

      Thank you!!! The blue really sparkles in the sun but looks great in the shade as well. They did a tremendous job in capturing a lot of body details I the molding of it and makes it look that much better once painted! With a few upgrades and tweaks it will be a very good performer as well. It is did well for the setup it has but will be even better with some inexpensive upgrades and the low range gearing.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      Thanks, I wanted something not typically seen as far as the color goes. There seems to only like 4 or 5 colors being produced in RTRs and I was not a fan of the light blue on the box images so just dug into the paints and picked one I thought would turn out well. I was going to go with a gun metal but thought is would clash with the black roof and fenders so I stuck with something safer!

      Thanks! I don't like the lower tier versions at all but the upper tier versions of it I like a lot. @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Rich! Build it with low range gearing, the high range is too high for good trailing. You'd have to run behind it at full speed!! Low range gears, a decent servo, a 1080 and decent speed crawler motor and it is a great little truck. This had a super cheap 4 for $20 servo in it so it did fairly well for the running gear!

      Thank you!!! It turned out looking really good and I think with some inexpensive upgrades and the gearing change in the trans it'll be a great truck out there. I did find the body clip, it took a good bounce off of a clod buster tire and ended up in plain site so luck was on my side! I id fling an e-clip into another dimension the other day so not all oft hem take lucky bounces! (and no, I wasn't using the good e-clip tool either, old habits die hard!!)

Nice job

      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! I was not a big fan of the box art color and had initially planned on doing it in gun metal but when I sat down with it I thought it may be too much with the dark gun metal body and the black roof, fenders and trim. I think the blue was a good choice and not one of the common colors you see them in all the other releases of this body style. The light kit is not the best but it does at least change some. You have to give it a decent amount of throttle for them to realize you are on the gas and go out. I wanted some dynamic lighting on it and this better than the always on lights it came with. I think I got the light kit off of amazon like a year ago for ago $13 so not as performance driving as other light kits out there for sure but does give it a little something. To be completely honest I don't really ay attention to them when driving much. I notice them from time of time but I am focuses on the body position and the tires more than anything!

      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thank you!! A nice brushless setup would be nice but the price increase for it is so much more. I am still stuck in the old school brushed motor days! I like brushless but for one brushless setup I can get two brushed ones. If this was going to be "the" truck I ran all the time maybe but since this will be a once in a while truck it doesn't justify the budget for one. I have thought of putting on of the brushless setups in the SCX10 I built not too long ago as that is my favorite trail truck/crawler at the moment!

I am sticking the 1080 esc in there to be able to program in some drag brake. I don't want full rock crawler, hold it on a hill all day amounts but I would like some to be able to slow the descent down things easier then trying to feather it in reverse. I also need to yank the transmission in put in the low range gearing. The high range is too much for how I am going to drive it. Thanks for watching and for checking in!!!

      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! It is a really nice kit and I did not like the generic shocks but they did seem to work rather well out there. The tires I feel like they should feel ashamed for producing! The only thing they may be good for is for being on display and not caring if they get flat spots in them (I doubt they would though, they are too hard!) or you could use them as corner markers for a temporary track!!! The wheels look nice, I will likely use them for something.

  • @canuckchuck8836

    Excellent finish work as usual! Which gear set did you install in the transmission? Do you find the springs really stiff? I finished building my Bronco chassis last weekend and this weekend will be painting the body shell...hopefully! The shocks were not as bad as I was expecting. The verdict on the spring rates is still being debated internally. They seem too stiff to me...
    Anyway, awesome build! Thanks for sharing.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      I used the high gear and it is too fast for my taste. It do pretty well over all with it being in high gear out on the rocks and I think the Holmes Hobbies motor helped with that. I do want to put a 1080 ESC in there to give it some drag brake mostly for holding power trying to go forward and rolling back is not something I like. The suspension worked rather well to be honest. Spring may be a tiny bit on the stiff side but that should help once I add an interior.

      Thanks Steve! I did build with the high range and it is going to get the low gearing put in. I am also going to add the HW 1080 ESC in there for some drag brake and a better low end control and also going to replace the generic 4 for $20 servo I used and stick in one of the 35kg servos. I think with that setup it will do extremely well out there. It surprised me on how well it did with the setup it has now so I know it will do very well after the changes!

    Looks great Addam! Love the blue. Do you know if it can be geared like a true crawler? Can’t really tell in the video but I’d love if you could set it up with a really low gear ratio so you could really crawl with it.

    • @AddamsPlayground

      I do hope to get it up on the bench tomorrow to get the trans pulled and put the low range gearing in it. While I am in there I will be taking the 1060 esc and swapping it with the the 1080 ESC to give it some drag brake and better low end control. Also I will be swapping out the very basic low torque servo ( one of my cheap4 for $20 ones) and replacing it with a 35kg one I have. I think with all that it should drive exceptionally well!! It did really well completely stock but suffered a little from the higher gearing and weak servo. I am sticking the 1080 in as I have one already and I prefer the drag brake and being able to tune out the motor whine with the program box if needed.

      LOL, good question... I am sitting here trying to remember but I cannot! I will check when I head out to the garage later and let you know for sure. I am pretty sure I went with PS16 as I knew I was going to back it with black but I am not 100% Kind of the problem of not planning everything out! I was originally going to go with a gun metal but thought is would clash with the black roof and fenders so I stuck with something safer like the blue! I will respond back this afternoon with the proper answer

      It was the PS16 and then backed with black. So not as bright as it could be but brighter the 59 would have been. Sorry for the delay I got side tracked a lot yesterday

    bonjour, how did you get the matte black color on the lexan, (roof and fenders) thank you

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      I carefully cut off the overspray film from the outside for the fender and the roof section and painted it the with the PS5 Black. You need to mask off the windows by hand on the outside to match the masking on the inside. You also need to make sure the overspray fil does not lift when you are peeling up the fenders and roof area. If it peels up it will not stick back down and you will have to peel it all off and mask it out by hand. I had already painted the fender black underneath the body in those areas to make sure if the paint on the outside gets scratch the body color does not come through. It is a lot more work doing it this way but it looks great. If you wanted to you could use the PS Matt clear on the outside instead of the black but it is the same amount of work so I just used the rest of the can of black I was already using!

    I’m curious why Traxxas chose to use the 4 door version. In my opinion the 2 door is way better looking. I have the blue TRX Bronco & the color is almost exactly the same. I just got the new Chevy TRX truck but to be honest the TRX Bronco is the least used RC out of all my Crawlers. I actually started to think about selling it but it’s probably better to keep it. What electronics did you use?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      I think Traxxas went with the 4 door to make the wheelbase the "standard" size so the 2 door may have looked off on there scale wise. This one has a much shorter wheelbase compared to the others. I really like my TRX4 sport, it does really well but also doesn't have all the 2 speed and diff lock stuff on there so it's a lot lighter overall. I hate selling kits, I always end up regretting it. But if it doesn't get used and you can enjoy putting the money into something else then that's a win. For this build I built it completely stock minus the motor. It came with the hobby wing 1060 and it has a Holmes hobbies 13t 5 slot crawl master sport 540 motor. It is rocking a 4 for $20 metal.gear servo for the initial run. It did surprisingly well with that poor setup. I am swapping in a 1080 and a 35kg servo and also lowering the gear ratio in the trans. I think it'll do a whole lot better and be better suited for slow crawling and technical stuff. A little too fast and unrefined as is.

    • @fishnrc294
      @fishnrc294 2 года назад +1

      @@AddamsPlayground Sounds awesome. Yes some of the more simple Crawlers seem to do well even stock. I have a TRX Sport truck pretty much stock except new servo because the original died & metal beadlocks & some free mods like removing the front bumper & the rear is high & tight. But mostly stock & man that thing can go up spots that the TRX Bronco with locking diff adjustment & 2 spd can’t go or simply can’t make it up. And more & more from experience definitely seems like simple to a certain degree is good. No need for a bunch of high price items but definitely spend where it makes the most deference if needed. I’m finding really good servos make a big difference if your really trying to Crawl but it’s hit or miss I’ve had a few that should’ve been good but weren’t much better then stock. I do have a few Reefs servos & definitely makes a huge difference. But it’s not easy spending 100$ plus $’s on a servo. My Gen 8 V2. Still has the 20kg Amazon servo in it & have had no issues. Hit or miss!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      @@fishnrc294 Yeah, I have not gone down the high priced servo route yet. I know they are amazing but I have a hard time putting that much money into an upgrade. I have gotten some decent ones for around $45 from amazon but I have not run them enough to say they will hold up. They are the Flash Hobby 45kg ones and they are faster and stronger then the cheaper 35kg servos. As long as it is fun and keeps you entertained it really doesn't matter what the cost is. I have had the biggest smiles on my face with an old poor performing RadioShack buggy and have developed a hatred for an expensive good hobby grade kit so fun and cost are not always matched!
