Nicely done, Fil! Those upgrades look like a no-brainer for anyone with one of these rigs. Thanks for braving the downpour to get us those running shots and I'm looking forward to the full run video. I suppose you could throw a ton of money at this rig and make it a little better in terms of crawling, but as you say, better to enjoy it for what it is - a very sweet looking and good performing scale trail runner! Cheers, enjoy that beer! 🍻🍻😎😎👍👍
I do like those links and the skid plate! I may have to look into those for mine. The transmission does tend to grab almost everything you drive over so that may really help out!
Great upgrade parts, not surprised the links were bad as it stood out in your build. The skid plate hiding a lot of hang-up parts on the gearbox area. Tamiya still has not made the CC series a great crawler, but like I say about my CC01 more a challenge to go out with.
The CC series was not meant to be an all out great rock crawler, saying that I have had great fun with my old CC-01 over the years playing on the rocks
Awesome upgrades Fil. I like the high clearence links most and that the skid covers a big area of the chassis. I don't have the comparison how it ran before, but the after looks awesome.
Did you say- Mossy rock?? I think you meant the CC-02 is hard to drive on the MauzyRock... But I digress! Those hop ups seem great, and not just for show. I'll be curious to check it out in action. For my CC-01 I chose to forego trying to make it "perform" and went with a more scale approach. (well, working on it). Cheers!
I made a video on my clean up process a few years ago. Back then I still didn't really know what I was doing, so my videos were a little more crude. But here you go: ruclips.net/video/kkP9PTLSv7U/видео.html
I just picked one up to build while out of town for work. Built it up. Definitely not in the class of an SCX, Vs4-10 or anything like that, but should be fun! I plan on building my own links, some better tires and just enjoy it for its’ limited abilities and short wheelbase!
Dude, it's SO much fun! No, it's not a TRX-4, but after driving these super capable rigs, the CC-02 is a breath of fresh air. Yeah Racing skid plate helps a lot! And good tires are a must! Have fun dudeQ
Aluminium suspension links I think you need a total of eight of them as each axle needs 4 pcs. 2 uppers and 2 lowers. I believe YR sells them as a set of 4 uppers and 4 lowers.
@@poorboysrc yes I do, I had to modify the wheels, because the hups are slightly bigger. Like a few mm. But they work very well. Keeps the centre of gravity lower
I stopped buying from RC Mart when they increased their shipping prices by a huge amount to the UK at the start of the Covid19 breakout. It's a shame because I used them regularly and they were always competitive and reliable. I've used A.T for a lot of parts since then and sometimes it may take a little longer to process and deliver an order, but most of the things I buy are shipped for free. They have regular discount sales too and I got a complete set of metal suspension and steering links for my SCX24 Deadbolt in January that only cost $12.41 Canadian delivered which arrived in 7 days. Can't complain about that! Your F.J is beautiful and you are right, the CC-02 is a good little chassis and a lot of fun if you accept it for what it is. I really like mine and don't regret buying one. Stay excellent my friend 🙂🎸🤘🏼
Yeah that jump in shipping costs is a lot to swallow. Like you said, it's too bad, as their product selection is huge! I'd like to support them more, but the shipping is a killer! 😭
RCMart is an excellent shop and online shop here in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 They are always fully stocked with OEM, original Tamiya spares, hop ups, Yeah Racing, etc… 👍🏻😉😊
Yeah man!! Even I’m impressed with their stock. They have 2 street level retail shops, one open to public warehouse shop in an industrial commercial building and probably a warehouse somewhere locally. It’s insane as far as RC shops goes. I’m lucky to live close to one of their shops, just one highway exit away.
Yeah, man, lovely video, buddy! I loved the run footage, and as always a fitting tune to get the mood right, even it's nasty wet and cold... Great upgrades, as you mentioned, there is risk the skid plate might get caught up... And why aluminium knuckles? I would get brass, a bit more weighty... The links look awesome! Looking forward to see what else you got coming for it... I have a ton of upgrades already in stock for mine, but haven't got the actual kit yet. 🤣
Stocking up on upgrades before you get the kit, I love it! Hahaha! I've done that a few times, too. It's so nice building a new kit with all the upgrades right there.
Looks like very nice upgrades. Eventually, I will test a crawler some time in my life. It's not something that I find interesting but shouldn't say anything until I try it 🙂
I said the same thing about 10 years ago. Then I drove a crawler... We coined the phrase: "There's something you'll never understand about RC rock crawlers until you've driven an RC rock crawler." There's something very satisfying about learning how to drive and build these rigs. I think you'll love it! ❤️
Those links made a big difference. There's still that sharp point sticking out, as you said, but the tire will hit the obstacle 90% of the time before the link does. Whereas with the stock links, the link hit the obstacle before the tire. Definite improvement!
Love my CC01 and i was always surprised at what it could do for the fact its not a rock crawler chassis. I have been thinking about the cc02 but i really wish they would beung out a CR02
The CC02 is a worthy follow up to the CC01. The sloppy steering on the CC01 drove me nuts, and the CC02 has refined that mess. It's a fun little truck! 👊🏼
Excellent upgrades. I love upgrades 😍 Those link arms look great and that skid plate will help a lot Damn i have spent many many thousands on RC Mart over the last 8 years, they are great they have everything u need Enjoy that Moose piss i mean beer 😂
Awesome mods. I have the skidplate, too. But, I do like those lower links. I opted for the green adjustable link set with a slight upward kick. My only problem is that I haven't even taken it out yet. A year with it, and I've just been upgrading it. Yikes. I swear it's not a shelf queen!!
Nice! Does there seem to be a reason why they left that “bump” in the links, i.e., why not just make them smooth? Does that “protect” where the driveline connects to the axle?
The bump in the lower aluminum link? I think that's there because they designed the link to sit as high as possible, effectively tripling ground clearance. The kick down portion has to be there to mount to the axle. But it's behind the wheel now, so it doesn't affect clearance. 👊🏼
Hi Phil, I have the Tamiya CC-02 chassis. I got the Mercedes SUV. I like it, but it is not a crawler. It is a trail truck and only basic crawling. I got the Tamiya soft tires for mine. The original tires are so hard. I also got a lot of GPM metal parts. The lower link metal parts really help. Only buy the ones from Tamiya. All of the rest will break during the installation. I would like to get a metal chassis, but have not found one yet. Thoughts?
The G-Wagon is a beauty of a shell! But I don't think I've ever seen a metal chassis for the CC02. It's pretty robust as-is, I'm confident the plastic will hold up. As long as we don't go dropping in a 6S Lipo, lol! 🤣🍻👊🏼
thanks for sharing. ive just built this kit. struggling for wheels . but mark has found me some i think . i’ll be upgrading it bit by bit . just doing the body . my favourite 4x4 is the f40 . are you tempted by fms versions . thry look stunning
Yeah Dom, the FMS FJ's are so nice! I'm still really enjoying the CC02, so maybe I'll add an FMS down the line. Look into some steel 1.55 beadlocks, they carry weight down low, and the 1.55 profile looks perfect on this chassis! 👍🏻👊🏼
Nicely done, Fil! Those upgrades look like a no-brainer for anyone with one of these rigs. Thanks for braving the downpour to get us those running shots and I'm looking forward to the full run video. Thanks buddy! It was actually quite nice out there in the rain, not many people out there on the trails, which made filming a lot easier!
Great upgrades Fil.....
But you forgot the most important -
The fire extinguisher! 🔥
😂 😅 🤣
Lovely running footage matey. 👌
👍 👍 👍
Hahaha 100%! - How could I forget??? Good news is, the trunk of the Camry doesn't smell like scorched Mabuchi anymore! 🤣👊🏼
Nice upgrades i have done a few i want to try making my own skid plate
That's a good idea. Pick up an old fender from an auto body shop and start cutting. 😆👊🏼
I do like those links and the skid plate! I may have to look into those for mine. The transmission does tend to grab almost everything you drive over so that may really help out!
Yeah that low belly transmission was getting hung up quite a bit. The links helped a lot, definitely an improvement over stock.
I just built my first tamiya last weekend and I might b hooked. Like the videos bro
Which one did you get?
@adrianharrison5208 tt02 subaru. Can't get my steering right though. Waiting on upgrades
Thanks for watching, dude! Glad you're enjoying the vids! Good luck with your TT02! 👊🏼
Those links definitely give it a different side look. The truck looked great going up the water.
Yeah it looks a lot more aggressive from the side, doesn't it? Performs better now, too!
I do like the way the links look.
They're pretty sweet, right? Very aggressive looking.
Vary nice scenery. Seemed alot better.
Lots of mossy rocks out where I live, great for winter rock crawling.

@@adrianharrison5208 I know, but the design of the CC02 I would have thought a bit closer.
That's why I love the CC01/2 platforms, they're more of a challenge to drive out on the trails.

Thanks pal. Yeah the high clearance links make a major improvement on the trail. It's no Beluga, but it's still a fun little truck. 👊🏼

Upgraded to the max with some awesome parts. Excellent vid bud!

Yeah I just kept the stock uppers for now, they'll do the trick.
