This made me think about a conversation I had with a friend who was wise WAY above his years. I was about 10 riding motocross stopped chatting with my friend's older brother, about 16, next to this big jump I wanted to try and he was like, "You haven't hit that yet?! Oh man you got it." And I said, "Yeah you're probably right, I want to do it but I'm scared!" and he just looked at me and was like, "... so then do it scared." And it blew me away, because he wasn't dismissing the fear like I expected him to, he totally understood and acknowledged it, and was like you're scared? So what, do it anyway. Do it scared. And I think about that REMARKABLY often even still, and this was almost 20 years ago now.
"Don't be a pussy", as in "Don't be a scaredy cat". Being a chicken means you cluck & run around, refusing to go through with the act (like when two drivers play chicken). A scaredy cats will either just sit there and lick itself, ignorant to the pressure of any commands or it will scurry off in such haste that will include a jump, flip or any other crazy cat like manoeuvre (see Internet) which will itself will be more challenging than the act. In either case, the cat isn't genuinely scared, why would they be? They have 9 lives. They might run from a dog but that's just smart. As soon as they are out of reach, they just chill, no matter how nuts the dog might be going below. The cat will chill just out of reach. So what I'm highlighting is that a scaredy cat isn't a scared cat or a cat that's scared, a scared cat would throw itself out of a building window just because it doesn't want to a be picked up. Can you picture a cat shaking, fearful of its abusive owner? It doesn't happen. So for example, when a group is encouring someone, they get called "chicken" first. If the person gets up in response to do it straight away, the group starts calling out "scaredy cat" because they have stepped up like they have no fear but this never works as encouragement, the person is only reminded they don't have 9 lives. When does anyone get called both these names then just go ahead and do the act? I haven't seen it. However, when someone is called a "chicken", if they aren't,m and they start to explore the idea, they may invision themselves doing it, they are still scared but they go through the possible scenarios, building up courage. The group sees this and they start to yell "Don't be a scaredy cat", meaning do it scared. "Don't be a pussy". So that's it kiddies, remember. "The more you know, the more you grow".
@@FromThe3021 I hear ya, but Not exactly, because that implies, don't BE scared. His advice wasn't do be scared, it was like, "That's fine, be scared, do it anyway." So not exactly. I've thought about this a LOT in my life lol.
I think that's a failed statement. He never delves too deep, but is good at packaging many, varied concepts into something more edible for people who care about the topics but have no time or will to learn about it on their own, because most of that into isn't nearly as entertaining as Jordon. I feel like he's prodded a LOT of people,, just a little bit. Perhaps enough for them to look further into the concepts themselves... People can love or hate him, but I think it/'s getting harder to sell the story that he's a harmful influence, Nothing he suggests is anything other than beneficial to one's life. Lol seems like they gave on on trying to label him alt right, as they did years ago and failed miserably. I don't always agree with JP but making this stuff more accessible is arguably more important than any of the ideas he speaks on.
Theo's "My Man" to Jordan Peterson held so much respect and love for Peterson that Theo's face it up with the smile as he said it. I hope Jordan Peterson noticed.
It's really touching when you encounter someone with a big load of empathy and clear channel genius, so that he or she gets whatever you say, however obscure. This one I read in one sitting I was so famished for the material.. Then went back and read it again, taking notes and, again beginning to try on the behavior. He is completely without arrogance or hubris.

@@leftybronson8800 Well of course....but not in the context of JBPs thought. I don't necessarily think he thought that either when he said he had just made it up. Theo, I really appreciate your humility in this conversation. So many people who interview Peterson are "high intellectuals" and seem interested in proving his equal, but you are open and vulnerable and draw out a real joy in him as you talk about your flaws. Theo has a poets soul. When he said that he looked into the eyes of that man in africa and thought he might have been 3 million years old. Like you could dive into his eyes and never hit the bottom is just BARS. God bless Theo for his genuine eloquence and his sweet outlook on life. Mans a treasure
That's exactly what "Don't be a pussy means".
"Don't be a pussy", as in
"Don't be a scaredy cat".
Wow. I’ll try to remember that next time I’m at my local wakeboard park. Thanks.
@@FromThe3021 I hear ya, but Not exactly, because that implies, don't BE scared. His advice wasn't do be scared, it was like, "That's fine, be scared, do it anyway." So not exactly. I've thought about this a LOT in my life lol.

Dr. JP is one of the single most influential people on earth today.
So thankful hes recovered.
We love you Dr. JP.

I remember another Pisces, the bassist for Yes, all aglow when the best of their keyboard players came aboard. Yeah well he gets accused of being too aggressive in interviews but that is usually because the host immediately puts him on the defense and is not interested in a discussion just an argument.
The insight I'm getting from this conversation is beyond what I would have imagined. It is describing what my life is at this precise moment. What a wonderful emotion I am feeling right now!
