    • @RujioWR
      @RujioWR 2 месяца назад

      @@schoolofselfprotection @sceptickeptic3794 Of couse I dont know the thoughts of the instructor and dont pretend to. But I will try to answer the question - which is, to be fair, a regular question with no offense.
      In my mind the push before the strike makes sense for a couple of reasons:
      - You force the agressor to move backwards against his will. That will create a big psychological change for the aggressor. The dynamic changed direction making the agressor focus on defense rather than offense
      - By moving foward you leave the most dangerous zone which is about an extended arm length where the agressors punch has much more power. Therefore you soften the impact of the aggressors punch as well as limiting his options (assuming he is not a wrestler)
      - By moving the agressor he now has to worry about more things and cannot concentrate soley on his attack. Because he also has to worry about his legs, not tripping, keeping balance. While being pushed in an actual hurtful and agressive way its much more difficult to pull a weapon lets say
      - You probably want to move due to the possibility that you might be attack by multiple attackers. Its always harder for them to hit a moving target than a stationary one
      - By moving you gain speed and momentum. It is difficult to describe but it certainly does some psychological change as well. You are now doing something (instead of freezing in place), changing your mindset. And escpacially moving forward is a manifestation of determination eradicating thoughts of defeat.
      - Plus if you actually bring your body mass into movement this opens up much more options for you because you can have the momentum work for you not only psychological but also physical
      - Since agressor picked you he must have thought he has the upper hand. Demonstrating some determination and actual physical strength by pushing him (meaning taking control over him against his will) seems to be an effective way to make him surprised about his own missjudgement. This adds further valuable milliseconds to your adventage
      - By pushing you are definitly disrupting the agressors plans to continue. Whatever he thought to do next now he cant because his stance is destabilized, leaving him without a plan, therefore reactionary.
      - You might smash the agressor into something unpleasent like a wall which is nice
      - Agressor might trip and fall down which is nice
      - Spiking in Chest Area creates a focus point for the agressor. The elbows then follow on a slightly different line (not to chest but to the head). Since you are changing levels and angles the likelyhood of success raises instead of relying on just one angle
      - The spike is just a very solid defense move. You are completely covered (the head that is, but you dont want to present your belly anyway). To me this spike / push is universally so good that you can basically always do it as a first move. And in my mind its incredibly valuable to just have one move you always do first. Especially for beginners. In a fight situation the brain becomes stupid and (I at least) tend to just forget everything. One thing that basically always a good move in the very beginning just to help "kick you into the mode" might be very valuable so that you dont freeze trying to remember which technique was taught against this very specific attack (which you cant identify fast enough anyway).
      I hope this provides some reasons you can accept as reasonable.
      Best regards

    These instructors make me laugh man. A 6ft+ muscular framed 30 something man can of course elbow the absolute shit out someone. What about people that need to defend outside of that body type? Pure aggression is a TERRIBLE self defence tactic. If you don't annihilate you're opponent which you won't if you are much smaller then you are surely gonna piss them off into a frenzy. Gotta wise up. It's not a muay Thai match!
