I think that this drill is likely THE most important one in ANY combat sport or self defense class… yet I’ve rarely seen it done. When you don’t fear getting hit it gives you such an advantage over the vast majority of the population.
Great stuff as always Coach! 👍

Obvious this training is very good, but what I like the most is the little instructive glimpses we see in these clips. The whole "I will talk you through it" as you prepare the group to begin drilling. A good instructor must address the human nature of the students with understanding and without judgment. Creating this environment where everyone feels safe enough to put ego aside is extremely important because ego and self-consciousness are the biggest barriers to learning. I deeply admire the way you manage the class as an instructor.

Very nice video, people often overlook the real aggression spirit: there are no rules, or maybe only one: survive.
We do also a similar kind of training in France, called the "RED Training" were we do learn basic fighting skills, grappling/floor combat, knife and stick defense... and protecting yourself is the most important thing in a violent altercation.
You Sir are a good mentor, and yes, sometimes you got a black eye from the training, but if it can save your life, then I will take the black eye anyday.
Once again, violence is the latest response as you said but when it become unavoidable, you better be prepare for that storm...
All the best from France !

It's mainly psychologic. I got used to it in sparring and fights. If the strikes don't put you down right away (like a hard liver shot or a KO), that means you can keep working. Pain and blood are not much when you realize it's superficial.

This is such a good idea and I totally agree with you on the kenpo guy. I did kenpo for a looot of years and it’s very simulated, you pull punches especially since you’re trying to go for weak targets - eyes, throat, groin. I’ve no idea what this situation feels like so this drill is such a smart idea so I wouldn’t lose my head if it ever did!

I always tried to explain to the guys and girls that I trained with when I was kickboxing, if you don't competition fight or go heavy sparing how do you know if you can take a hit and fight back. Fighting is not all about hitting someone its about, avoiding the hits coming you way if you can, taking them if you can't and hitting back hard under duress. Getting hit hurts, no ifs or buts about it, nobody likes getting hurt, but accept it's going to happen and dial the reply upto 11 and hit hard, Maximum Fucking Violence is the thought process. Great video, this guy knows his stuff.

I have come across many, many, many dubious so called experts on here and have called many out on both the techniques they are showing and their training methods. (Resulting in challenges to fight some of them😅). But coming from a background of 20 years of martial arts followed by 20 plus years of combatatives including CQB and Krav Maga, I can say in all honesty that this is the first guy I have seen who knows what he is talking about and what he is doing.

Did over 10 years of martial arts, did couple years of prison time, became the president of my wing, and I would say if you have good training and a able body then you will always be shocked and defeated no matter what (unless you chose your opponents, weaker), what you need is his golden advice, get in a small room, get cornered, get a few guys to attack you and train with this method he is showing. If you get hit with a metal piece on the head you should stand not fall if you have years of training, so this unlock is needed.
